Nestor Redondo's forgotten SWAMP THING 2

Continuing with SWAMP THING MONTH our journey through DC Comics SWAMP THING series bring us back to Nestor Redondo's contribution to the series which is - as I said in my first post - not very appreciated.

And it's not that Nestor Redondo was a bad choice to follow up Bernie Wrightson's SWAMP THING run since more than a super hero title SWAMP THING is a horror title and Nestor Redondo was a regular contributor to DC's horror anthologies like HOUSE OF MYSTERY and HOUSE OF SECRETS .

It's just that an artist of the calibre of a Bernie Wrightson casts a big shadow and it would have been difficult for any artists aside from a selected few to follow something like that. It is the same with THE FANTASTIC FOUR which is one of my favourite comicbook series from Marvel Comics not only because of the great writers that have worked on the title over the course of the decades and also some of the best artists so the list of creators reads like a Who's Who of the comicbook industry.

Still there are only two runs everybody ever talks about and those are the initial run by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and the run by John Byrne.

Likewise with SWAMP THING the two runs that are always dissected are the initial run by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson and the Alan Moore run.

And like with THE FANTASTIC FOUR the whole run of SWAMP THING is worth reading since it has some great writers and artists working on it.

Which is why I started SWAMP THING MONTH ( formerly SWAMP THING WEEK ) in the first place. To bring some attention to all of the parts.

Anyway, since it would be too much work to get back to my previous posts with original art by Nestor Redondo to get two more full tribute posts I have decided to just continue and since I can't fit all of the new original artwork by Nestor Redondo in this post ( and also because issue 24 is drawn by Ernie Chan , one of my favourite artists who worked on such titles like THE INCREDIBLE HULK , BATMAN , DETECTIVE COMICS , JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA and most famously CONAN THE BARBARIAN ) the majority of it will be in this post and the rest in our next post with art from SAGA OF SWAMP THING from the pre - Alan Moore period. So in this post we have material from SWAMP THING issues 11 - 15, 17 and 19.
