It's a Star Spangled Sunday with Mike Zeck !

This post was initially supposed to go online Yesterday - with Saturday being the 4th of July and everything - but because of a lot of things in my personal life I just couldn't do it. And I felt bad about it because I thought it was an annual tradition on TALES FROM THE KRYPTONIAN to write a post on the amerikans Independence Day but going back to my old posts I found out that it actually only has been a tradition since 2023 so once again we are diving into Mike Zeck's brilliant run on CAPTAIN AMERICA with something I mentioned in my last post about this topic.

For those newer to the blog I wrote my first official 4th of July post in 2023 and it was not about Captain America but rather about another patriotic figure ( and what a figure she has ) from the four coloured funny pages, Wonder Woman. And in particular about Gene Colan's very underrated run on WONDER WOMAN . By the way, for those wondering why I wrote " official " 4th of July post, in the 20 years that I am now writing this post of course there have been posts that I did on that date before 2023 - with almost 1.500 posts it is a sure thing it happened - but if I did it they were not specifically written for or about that holiday.

Now for Mike Zeck's CAPTAIN AMERICA, my first post on that was not on the 4th of July and indeed it was not on July at all but on March the 2nd in 2024 because I had just found the complete original art to issue 267 and wanted to put it on the blog as soon as possible. And my next post on that was not on the 4th of July either but on the 6th of July in 2024 and this time I went with some original pages from different issues of choice selected by yours truly. Boy, 2024 really was a good year for Mike Zeck's CAPTAIN AMERICA because you got the double dose. Which leaves 2025 as the only year where I actually did a post on the 4th of July for Independence Day about Mike Zeck's run on CAPTAIN AMERICA which included the complete original art - plus the corresponding coloured pages as usual - for issue 275 . Which brings us to Today's post and the complete original art to issue 258 which I already mentioned before.
