TALES FROM THE KRYPTONIAN: A Star Spangled Saturday with Mike Zeck

The past days I have been so busy working on my two posts on CrossGen's NEGATION by Mark Waid, Tony Bedard and Paul Pelletier that I forgot the 4th of July. Now last year I managed to write a special 4th of July post which was my first spotlight on Gene Colan's run on WONDER WOMAN and since it would be the turn of a DC Comics post I wanted to continue it but I don't have enough original Gene Colan artwork left for a full post.

The only original artwork where I have anything near what I need for a full blown post is from Wonder Woman's mod phase where she lost all her powers and fought evil with karate but since she is wearing a completely white outfit instead of her stars and stripes uniform that does not feel very patriotic. So I have decided to flip the script here, go with a Marvel Comic post instead and to continue Mike Zeck's run on CAPTAIN AMERICA.

As faithful blog followers may remember I included the complete original for issue 267 of CAPTAIN AMERICA in the first part from this series but like I already wrote back then it doesn't happen too often that I find the art for a full issue online. So for this post I had to select original Mike Zeck artwork from different issues but including CAPTAIN AMERICA 269 was a no - brainer because it is the first appearance ( that's for all the collector's out there who never read the comics and are only interested in slabbing elusive so - called " keys " or " key issues " ) of the motorcycle riding Team America and what could truly be more patriotic than that ?

Next we come to issues 265 and 266 which I am not only including for nostalgic reasons ( since it was published in Germany in MARVEL COMIC - SONDERHEFT 13 by Condor Verlag ) but also because it is a cool team - up between Captain America, Spider - Man ( back when Spider - Man was a cool and somewhat relatable capable super hero ) and white Nick Fury.

Nothing against Samuel L. Jackson, he plays a terrific Nick Fury in most of the MCU productions ( except for the newer ones like SECRET WAR, MS MARVEL or CAPTAIN MARVEL ) but I miss those days when you could talk about Nick Fury without having to specify if you were talking about the OG vanilla - Nick Fury or the new chocolate flavoured - Nick Fury.

And speaking of team - ups, we round the post up with some original art pages from CAPTAIN AMERICA issue 268 which is a crossover with the DEFENDERS which wraps up in the 106th issue of their own magazine.

As usual I am starting the video / pop culture trivia / cult siren section of the post with an interview and this time it is J. M. DeMatteis who wrote a lot of issues from the Mike Zeck CAPTAIN AMERICA run even if he does not talk about those issues here. I also want to include a link for the aftermath of the Secret Empire storyline by writer Steve Englehart , artist Sal Buscema and inker Vince Coletta when Steve Rogers quit being Captain America and adopted the new heroic personality of the Nomad.

And there are two connections to Mike Zeck's CAPTAIN AMERICA work : first off we meet somebody else who has taken on the identity of Nomad at the beginning of this run - and it's not who you think it is - and second Mike Zeck also did the cover of issue 332 of CAPTAIN AMERICA in which Steve Rogers - again - gives up the mantle of Captain America. Only this time it will be Johnnie Walker who becomes the new Captain America for a while before taking on the new super hero identity of the U. S. Agent.

Make no mistake, Thunder In Paradise definitely falls into that category.

Compared to this Acapulco H.E.A.T. is like Shakespeare although like all good ( or is that bad ? ) shows from the 90s it includes a certain amount of hot bikini babes which they go to great lengths to make the viewers aware of them as they put it right in the intro of the very first episode.

Now one of the things I noticed is how colorful everything was back then. The comics were like that and definitely the tv shows. And you may say that I ncluded this for the hot bikini babes but that´s not it. If you are looking for intellectually stimulating stories portrayed by the greatest actors America has to offer you will be disappointed. But if you want to see a highly entertaining show with tons of wrestlers guest starring from their heyday and cheap special effects you have come to the right place. This show was done by the guys from Baywatch and Hulk Hogan quit the WWF to film this series.

Now one reason why I haven't done a cult siren entry for Diamond is that I lost all the pictures for the post and aside from the few animated GIFs that I had already used in some posts where I did a short feature on her there was not much stuff I could have put in said post. Because besides the pictures I had also lost all of the bookmarked videos on YouTube and so far I wasn't able to find new ones so making the post was not possible.

But just when I thought I could put the whole thing on ice forever I found a channel that has most of the full episodes ( ! ) and in high quality ( !! ) of American Gladiators so I went through the episodes and I included the breast ones in the bonus section of my THORSDAY WITH RON FRENZ post.

Which were all the episodes with the classic Diamond boobie highlights.

Now I won't say that there has been no new American Gladiators content on the blog since then because I have posted some episodes of Saturday Morning Cartoons that included an episode of American Gladiators as a bonus content even if Diamond is wearing her least favourable outfits.

If she is even in it. But with all the problems in my personal life the time I can spend on making posts has become shorter and shorter so I never included the next episodes of American Gladiators. Then an anonymous source included a link to a Deviantart gallery with GIFs of Diamond and her bouncing boobs in the comment section of a recent post about Alan Davis EXCALIBUR with Chris Claremont and I promised to use them asap.

So here we are again and since I have already posted the breast episodes in the aforementioned THORSDAY WITH RON FRENZ post I am including three new episodes from the second level of the Diamond appearances.

Meaning that she does appear in theses episodes but her parts are short.

I have also bookmarked a few episodes from the third level which are all the episodes where Diamond appears but she doesn't get a lot of screen time or the ones where she does not appear and the focus is on other female gladiators like Lace who displays a cleavage to rival Diamond's.

In our next episode Diamond's breast moment is around 5:35 minutes during Beakthrough & Conquer where Diamond bumps her fists but there is also a great shot of her at the beginning of the discipline and perfect views of her body, legs and butt while wrestling with the contenders and we have two Diamond events back to back as Breakthrough & Conquer comes directly after Powerball which starts at 3:05 minutes with another good shot of Diamond right away. There is some incredible boob bounce action by Diamond in this but sadly the camera doesn't zoom in on her.

Apart from that this episode introduces female gladiator Lace with her most watched segment at the beginning of the show at 2:40 minutes.

In our last new episode Diamond's breast moments are in Joust around 33:55 but she is also in the maze - at 3:20 - and opens Powerball the breast way ever with a nice boob bounce at 19:55. There are however not a lot of good shots of Diamond there except for some slow motion.
