Regular followers of this blog know that I always check and doublecheck the things I put in the post and I thought that the picture above by Joe Staton was a cover for DC´s 100 Page Super Spectacular100 page series but I could not find it on any of the online databases. And after consulting METROPOLIS PLUS where you can see all the double page spread covers I had to come to the conclusion it only appeared as a cover for a fanzine.
Which would be sad since it is a sweet piece of art. Does anybody have more information about this ? Speaking of Earth Two´s assemblage of awesomeness, you can find posts on issues 1 , 2 and 3 of the 1991 Justice Society of America series on CRIS IS ON INFINITE EARTHS as well as issues 1 and 2 of the following series in 1992 which was drawn by the late Mike Parobeck who is best known for his work on Batman Adventures. There are also posts on the third volume of Justice Society of America - which finally was an ongoing book - but I´m not going to put up 25 links here.
Even though this section has - once again - become much longer than expected ( and this AFTER I shortened the Andy Sidaris part drastically ) I have to include one more birthday for Today with Grant Morrison since it is related to Power Girl. He has written some of the best comics to ever see the light of day which makes it all the more unforgivable that so far I have not done a proper post about him. I skimmed his vicinity with some posts like the one I did in 2017 , a short best of the best post which also includes some links to his issues of The Flash I posted. Longtime readers might remember that for a long time FLASH FRIDAY was a regular feature.
Another noteworthy comic book Grant Morrison wrote is of course the brilliant All Star Superman on which I wrote a post way back in 2008 ( I´m not sure if I ever managed to do the follow - up post ) as is Animal Man where Brian Bolland did the covers and I made a post for Brian Bolland with some of his best covers last year. Man, am I the only one would would love to see Brian Bolland do some interior work ? It doesn´t have to be an ongoing series, just a nice comic book once a year, that would be nice.
Speaking of Animal Man, that´s where the Power Girl connection comes in. There was a story with the Psycho Pirate that included the fact that the Psycho Pirate was the only one who remembered everything that had happened during Crisis on Infinite Earths since he was the right hand man of the Anti - Monitor. So while everybody else lost their memories or at least great part of what happened the Psycho Pirate retained everything.
And because nobody else remembered things post - Crisis like the Psycho Pirate did he was declared insane and ended up in a mental hospital.
Which I am mentioning because the Psycho Pirate appeared in last year´s big Elseworlds crossover event between Arrow, Flash and Supergirl and most likely has a big role to play in this year´s upcoming tv version of the classic story by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. Anyway, because the Psycho Pirate was the only one to remember the Crisis on Infinite Earths he also was the only one who remembered how the things used to be.
And that was the reason why throughout everything that followed he was the only one who knew that Power Girl´s origin was not being Arion´s descendant or a member of the Legion of Super - Heroes who lost her memory but the only survivor of not only Earth 2 but an entire parallel universe. He also is one of Power Girl´s few arch enemies or frenemies since he always lusted after the voluptuous vixen from another Earth.
I can´t fault his taste in women and he is one of the few villains in Crisis on Infinite Earths who is written realistic because the prize the Anti - Monitor promised him for his help was not only his own planet to rule but also Power Girl as an obedient sex slave. And who wouldn´t go for that ?
Coming back to Grant Morrison, there is much more to say about him than I can possibly cram into this space so here is an more than one hour long documentary about his various comics from the fine folks at Sequart.
Apropos the Maid of Mammaries, in 2016 I managed to do another post about Darick Robertson in which I mentioned the BREAKDOWNS storyline that introduced Power Girl´s famous coconut bra costume. And I just got to say that I still have not given up on a Yaya Han Power Girl coconut bra photoshoot as she has already shown that she does a terrific Power Girl cosplay and she has no problem filling out the magical cleavage window.

Today´s episode of The Fall Guy is Dirty Laundry ( episode 07 from season 03 ) and while it has Paul Anka as a guest star the real reason why I picked this even though I may have posted it before is that we get to see Markie Post in a skiing outfit. There are only three episodes where we get to see her wear a bikini so having her in skintight spandex is the next best thing.
She is also stretching her sweater out quite nicely but those legs - Markie Post had one of the best set of legs of the 80s and I bet she made entire generations of little boys reach puberty prematurely just by walking by.
Okay, in the scene above the fact that Markie Post is wearing a bikini that leaves little if not nothing to the imagination helped but her legs still are awesome. And besides the three bikini episodes you don´t get to see her wear something skin tight very often. And Markie Post makes a perfect ski bunny - as well as a more than perfect bed bunny. I don´t know about her skiing skills but her après - ski performance must be on an olympic level.
There is another very short scene in the episode ( it´s so short that it took me three tries to find it ) in which Terri Michaels ( the character Markie Post plays ) has to lure a guy into a dark alley so Colt and Howie can ambush him and get some intel. This scene shows that the producers realized what an ultimate sexbomb Markie Post was and tried to give her more screen time since this was something Jody would usually do. Now they still kind of justify it for the audience that it´s Terri who lures the guy into the dark alley instead of Jody by saying she posts his bail to get him out and then revokes it as soon as they have the information. And that it is less suspicious because Terri is a bail bonds contractor. But Jody could have posted the bail as easily and they just wanted to use Markie.
Which is completely realistic because she would have no problem luring any guy into a dark alley ( especially not in real life ). She would just say :
" Hello, I´m a nymphomanic ex - nun trying to catch up and after my nude PLAYBOY pictorial I am looking for a few horny, well hung guys to restart my porn star career. The only other reason to use Teri Michaels instead of Jody to lure the guy into the dark alley would be if he blackmails Teri later because she abused her power. And in order to keep her license as a bail bonds contractor Teri has to do certain things that are completely illegal in fourteen states.
But The Fall Guy didn´t just have 80s Power Girl Markie Post they also put blonde bombshell Heather Thomas in the show right from the beginning.
She played stunt body double ( and what a body it was ) Jody and her job was to keep the male viewers hooked by providing eye candy. She was in all episodes except for an episode in the first season. Yes, fan service is not as new as some people might want you to think and Heather Thomas mainly got the part because of her absolutely amazing bikini figure. OMG !
It took a few episodes before she could strut her stuff but once the tv guys got a taste of Heather it happened more often and the famous blue bikini scene was quickly added to the new intro of the second season.
For generations of adolescent young boys the only highlight of the week was the short moment when Heather appeared in her famous blue bikini. Like most growing teenagers I watched that show religiously but the biggest part of its appeal for me were sexbombs like Heather Thomas and Markie Post who didn´t appear as often in a bikini as I would have liked.

One of the producers must have realized what a waste it is to have somebody like Markie on the cast without letting her " show off what her Mama gave her " like they say Today and the rest is 80s tv history. Markie Post got more involved in the stories where she stole the scene from Heather Thomas as soon as she donned a bikini ( mainly in Season 3 ).
80s Power Girl Markie Post is probably the best known cult siren on the blog because not only have I done many re - posts of her original post .
I also keep mentioning her in other posts and her original post is in the Top Ten Posts widget that appears on every post. Since I have done so many different versions it is not so tragic that I did not do a re - post last year even though I did the last version of her cult siren entry in 2016 .
