TALES FROM THE KRYPTONIAN: It's Defenders Donnerstag with Joe Sinnott !

It has been over a year since our last spotlight so it's time to continue our series on Marvel Comics first official " non team " the Defenders.

Deja Vu. The strange feeling you have seen, heard, done something or been somewhere before. I don't know what it is with the DEFENDERS but it never fails. First up, I could have sworn I had made a few DEFENDERS posts but when I looked it up I had only done one. Also when I looked it up I thought it had been only a month since then so I was not sure if I should do another one but when I looked twice it had been over a year.

Also I wrote in my last post that I had been preparing all the material for a DEFENDERS post and that I was up to issue 75 of the DEFENDERS which was more than enough for the first post. Well, when I went looking in my folders for this post all of it was gone. I had nothing. Zilch. Nada. Nix.

Because as longtime blog followers know my old laptop went kaputt and took my old picture archive with it. So yep, I had to start from scratch.

Again.

Which also means that there may be some pages in this or future posts that I have used before. As usual I went to the old posts to eliminate any possible redundancies but with over 1,300 published posts I hope my readers can give me some leeway if I don't inspect every one of them.

That said we come to the contents of this post which are a bit all over the place. In our last post we started at the beginning of this team but rather than continue where we left off I have decided to include the best of the best of what I have at the moment since I always try to give my readers the best bang for their buck. Well, " best bang for their buck " may not be the best term for this occasion because TALES FROM THE KRYPTONIAN is one hundred percent free but you know what I mean.

We already did the rundown of the team's history, we have already done my thoughts on the book and on the team and I have already mentioned my favourite team member - the nordic Busenwunder Valkyrie and her indestructible giant - sized metal bikini ( her teutonic twin torpedoes gave young Subzero all kind of unsavoury ideas and I always wondered if her huge melons had the same poined enlarged shape as her phallic full metal bra or if she had to squeeze her XXL funbags into it and they popped right back to their original perfectly form when she took it off ) so from here on out it's carte blanche for whatever the heart desires.

So aside from the best pages I have included a lot of material by the late great Joe Sinnott since he is one of my favourite inkers and I have not done a spotlight post for him in a while. And also because they include a character to whom we will return in the pop culture trivia section since he has a rather interesting backstory. That said I have already taken up more than enough of your time so let's return with our public defenders.

While I am not very comfortable with Luke Cage and Danny Rand always being associated with the Defenders - which is mostly due to one short lived DEFENDERS series with art by Terry Dodson ( with the same logic you could also declare Power Man as a member of The Fantastic Four since he substitutede the Thing for a short while ) and the tv series - I currently don't have another post where I can include some Heroes For Hire links so this one will have to do. Now in this bonus section we are concentrating on the martial art half of this dynamic duo as Iron Fist is the topic of not one, not two but three instalments of Brian Cronin's Comic Book Legends Revealed over at COMIC BOOK RESOURCES. First he analyses if Iron Fist and Coleen Wing were originally going to be a couple and speaking of origin - ally it seems that Iron Fist drew inspirations from all sort of things from a Golden Age hero by Bill Everett to an obscure Western character created by none other than Joe Simon and Jack Kirby.

Now some people immediately associate John Rhys - Davies who played Wilson Fisk in The Incredible Hulk On Trial with his better known roles like Sallah in the original Indiana Jones movies or Gimli from the Lord Of The Rings adaptions. But for me he will always be Professor Maximilian Arturo from the classic Sliders tv show where he appeared alongside science fucktion cult siren Kari Wuhrer who really knows how to scorch up the silver screen with her bonerinducing 38C - 24 - 33 measurements !

Kari is best know for her role of Maggie Beckett on sci fi cult show Sliders. She was put on the cast as the boner guarantee for the male audience and they got more than their money´s worth in the Wild West episode where she´s almost spilling out of her snug saloon girl corsage.

When I cast Kari Wuhrer as Gypsy in my Casting the JLA movie series Gypsy hadn´t appeared on The Flash. So when I chose Kari for that role Gypsy´s super powers did not include vibing between dimensions but when people read it now they might get the impression that I chose Kari because of the tv show where she was sliding between the dimensions .

In the original comicbooks Gypsy was a member of the " Justice League Detroit " which came after the satellite era - and you can find some original pages from that period of the League in my Dick Dillin JUSTICE LEAGUE tribute post - which did not include any of the bigger members.

In the story Aquaman decided the Justice League of America had stopped being just that " of America " as it had grown apart from those it swore to serve and protect by being cooped up in a satellite above the earth.

With the League satellite destroyed ( this was also shown in issues of BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS by Mike W. Barr and Jim Aparo THE best Batman books of all times ) Aquaman went looking for new blood and this is where we got such new characters like Gypsy, Steel and Vibe who didn't have many fans and were some of the most cringe worthy team members until they were adapted for a new audience in the CW shows.

There is an omnibus which includes the entire story and I was tempted a few times to buy it ( while I am not a big fan of the art at that period of the Justice League Of America's history it looks better in the omnibus format and I always wanted to read it since I only know a few bits that appeared in Germany's SUPERMAN TASCHENBUCH by Ehapa Verlag ) but as always I kept it off too long and then the opportunity to get it with a decent discount had passed and then I had to sell my comic collection.

Despite that lack of knowledge I have written about Gypsy a few times on the blog - besides the aforementioned entry in my much beloved CASTING THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA MOVIE series which got so long because it gave me an excuse to wax philosophic about a superhero team that I have been following for a big part of my comicbook reading journey - the first was a post in 2006 called GYPSY IST VERWIRRUNG ! about the JLA CLASSIFIED / JSA CLASSIFIED crossover A Game Of Chance that had some really racist comments about Gypsy. That's right, long before SJWs and feminists jumped on the comicbook band waggon yours truly was fighting against discrimination standing up for women's rights.

I also briefly mentioned her in my post about artist Peter Krause's ( now there's a german name if I ever heard one ) impeccable work on Jerry Ordway's brilliant THE POWER OF SHAZAM series and the only reason why I am including the link is that I also wrote a lot about the Beastmaster.

The next time I mentioned the racist tendencies in A Game Of Chance was in my Curt Swan tribute post from 2020 where I also included some of the gorgeous pages by Tom Derenick - who for me is one of the most underrated comicbook artists working in the field right now and one of the reasons why he doesn't get the recognition he deserves is that he is not on DC Comics top tier books and when he is he never stays too long.

If you like his art style and you have not already done so do yourself a favour and check out the post INFINITE CRISIS series SHADOWPACT which not only has some of the man's best work but also a compelling story.

Last but not least Gypsy played a role in the Death Of Mister Miracle storyline by Keith Giffen , J. M. DeMatteis and Adam Hughes and you can find some original artwork in my Kevin Maguire birthday post from 2019 .

Now while casting Kari Wuhrer as Gypsy was just my horny fanboy heart ( or another part of my body ) at work she did appear in a few DC Comics adaptions, most notably the mostly forgotten 90s Swamp Thing tv series.

Kari Wuhrer also did some voice acting as Black Canary in Justice League : Crisis On Two Earths, Silver Banshee in Batman Unlimited : Monster Mayhem, Vixen in the tv series and Vixen : The Movie and last but not least Barbara Gordon and Pamela Isley in Batman : Gotham By Gaslight.

Other comicbook related work includes Mike Allred's MADMAN spin - off movie G - Men From Hell and the voice of Maria Hill in The Avengers : Earths Mightiest Heroes ( which is still THE best adaption of the comic books ), Marvel Heroes, The Marvel Experience and Disney Infinity 3.0.

Kari also was in Hot Blooded, a really bad movie that doesn`t even have full frontal nudity. Nevertheless it´s one of my favorite movies with Kari because she looks really hot in this one. You get to see a lot of cleavage and boobs and in the first sex scene on the bed you can see her sexy ass.

And because one scene where she´s at a gas station and pulls down her leather top to make the desk clerk horny. She´s really pulling it in all directions so you get to see her full boobs. I have no evidence but I swear I can see some nipple. I bet Kari had to do this scene a hundred times as the crew was sabotaging all takes just to see her boobs again.

In any case, I had this on a video tape on a loop and I must have heard the words " This material just does not breathe ! " a hundred times.

Like I said there is no full frontal nudity in this cineastic masterpiece but you get a bit of sideboob in a scene that was heavily cut on german tv.

They cut parts from when she´s using a whip to get into the mood and pours hot wax on his body. They also cut some parts from where she´s on top of him which I didn´t know until I found the movie on the internet.

Damn you, germans for keeping Kari Wuhrer´s sideboob away from me !

Shooting this scene took a whole week because Kari´s on screen partner Kristoffer Ryan Winters got a huge erection every time the blow up sex doll rubbed her naked breasts all over him ( especially when her nipples were hardening ) and climaxed a few times before the end of the scene.

The lucky stiff ( in every sense of the word ) was so smitten with Kari that he agreed to not getting paid during the filming of the scene and slipped director David Blyth some cash so he wouldn´t stop shooting.

Day after day they would try to capture the scene - at least Kari did since Kristoffer was only interested in getting a full chest massage with Kari Wuhrer's awesome tits - and while Kari tried to be a professional and do her part Kristoffer squirted more and more as Kari desperately slutted it up more with each take in the hopes of finally getting it done.

In the end Kari found out what was happening and almost fucked him into a coma during a weekend long non - stop marathon sex orgy where she made him squirt his load so many times that he couldn´t get it up.

The next day they resumed shooting the scene they luckily nailed it ( no pun intended ) with the third take because by the fourth Kari´s perky porn puppies had gotten Kristoffer hard enough to cut a diamond again.

Which he more than proved when he dropped in unannounced in Kari's trailer afterwards and slam - banged the living daylights out of her six ways to Sunday. Now the good news was that Kari managed to shoot the scene by almost fucking him into a coma. And the bad news was that Kari only managed to shoot the scene by almost fucking him into a coma.

Because after spending a week of tricking Kari into rubbing her naked body - and especially her perfectly perky sweater puppies - all over his body combined by experiencing what Kari really can do in the bedroom when she lost all inhibitions and released her inner nympho Kristoffer had gotten a real liking to using Kari as his personal blow up sex doll.

So if she wanted to finish the picture ultimate men milking machine Kari Wuhrer had to indulge his sexual cravings and when she was not lying on her back spreading her legs wider than a seasoned phillipino hooker after the shooting she was busy deepthroating his gigantic manhood or even giving him a double breasted deepthroat dick massage between takes.

While the sexual favours she had to grant him during the day stayed on a relatively even level the nightly sex - athlon olympics quickly escalated and his urges became more and more perverted. Otherwise Kari could not have survived the constant onslaught especially on the last round where Kristoffer brought in five black athletes with extremely huge schlongs that could give breeding stallions penis envy.

Once she saw those giant monstercocks Kari naturally panicked and tried to flee but Kristoff handcuffed her to the bed and to calm her down he promised he would make sure they would not do stuff that was too wild.

Things started slowly and while going one on one with each of the guys was no picnic at least during the first day they took turns domesticating her but on the second day they were already tag teaming Kari in pairs.

You have people go on how great the first seasons without Kari were but for me there were a lot of things that never made sense to me. Like them always standing around and giving longwinded speeches after opening the slide portal to the next world.

Aren't these things open for only a short time ? But instead of jumping in as fast as they can they stand around, go shopping or read a newspaper.

Then also did anyone notice that they always said that they could not get involved and change things but in the end they always did it ? The worst at this was Wade and she was a character I hated because she was so annoying with her hippie mentality. So when they got rid of that flat chested drama queen after the introduction of Kari Wuhrer I wasn't sad.

They tried to turn it into a show with two wild guys and two sexbombs but let's be real here Sabrina Lloyd just wasn't in Kari Wuhrer's league.

So this is not the first time I brought up Sliders or Kari Wuhrer - as my longtime followers can attest - but something that completely slipped my mind until I came across an episode is that four years before Jerry O'Connell played teen prodigy Quinn Mallory on Sliders he wrapped up the show My Secret Identity ( Ultraman, My Secret Me in the german version ) where he played a teenager who suddenly gets super powers.

And while it is not based on a comicbook his bedroom is plastered with Marvel Comics and you can see several of them in the intro of the first season. They disappear in the intro for season two but any deduction that this may be because the tv producers thought they could appeal to a broader audience by leaving out comic references is pure speculation.

One last thing about Sliders : did you ever wonder why Quinn Mallory got so little screen time in the episode In Dino Veritas from season two ? The reason for that is actor Jerry O'Connell needed time off to film Jerry Maguire. Well, in this segment of POP CULTURE REFERENCES ongoing series Drawing Patterns you can find more examples where characters were temporarily written out of shows so their actors could film movies.

With that musical overture we are travelling to the world of the orient with one of my all time favourite movies, The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad starring british 42C ( ! ) - 24 - 35 bra - busting brunette Caroline Munroe.

Caroline is a cult siren deserving the title since she starred in everything from The Spy Who Loved Me to sci fi flick Starcrash to horror movies like The Abominable Dr. Phibes and Dr. Phibes Rises Again to famous Hammer productions like Dracula A. D. 1972 or Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter.

I first saw Caroline in The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad in the cinema in Kornwestheim and Caroline´s supple cleavage - which she showcased in a variety of very tight fitting outfits - was a big part of the appeal of it.

For those readers who haven´t seen this cult classic yet they can finally experience The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad or like I like to call it Diabolik vs Doctor Who since Sinbad is played by John Phillip Law who portrayed master criminal Diabolik in Danger : Diabolik ( while the videos of Mario Bava´s adaption of Italy´s most famous fumetto have all been deleted you can find a documentary on it in my José Luis García - López birthday post from 2018 and a review of the movie in my Sal Velluto birthday post also from 2018 ) and Sinbad´s nemesis, the evil wizard Koura is played by Tom Baker who portrayed the fourth incarnation of Doctor Who which is the most iconic Doctor - and the one most people remember fondly.

I am including the regular version of The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad for those who don't want to see all the antics of Vincent and Tangella ( although I can't imagine why anybody would want that ) and just want to watch the movie. Plus to serve as a backup in case the episode of Creature Feature is deleted from YouTube ( it has happened before ).

Speaking of Sinbad, there was the tv show The Adventures Of Sinbad that followed on the heels of Hercules : The Legendary Journeys and Xena : Warrior Princess which is not a forgotten tv show for regular visitors of the blog since I already posted four episodes. The first one ( not the first one of the series but the first one I posted which had the late Bret " The Hitman " Hart a.k.a. the best there is, the best was and the best there ever will be as a guest ) in my post with Mike Mignola's excellent covers for CLASSIC X - MEN , the second one was in my Richard Corben pre Halloween post ( since it included some pages from his NEW TALES OF THE ARABIAN NIGHTS comic ), the third one in my Ann Nocenti DAREDEVIL birthday post from 2021 ( that one also included the movie The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad but in much lower quality ) and the fourth episode in my post for a certain sexbomb I won't mention since I had to take all pictures of her out of the post to keep my blog up and running.

Anyway, with four episodes already on the blog I don't feel I have to include another one Today.
