Well, just the other day I found some original FANTASTIC FOUR art while working on something completely different - as it always happens - and when I put it into the corresponding folder I realized that I had more than enough material for a new post. And since it has been more than three years since my last Jack Kirby FANTASTIC FOUR tribute post - and I need to make another post shorter so I can finish with it - let´s get into media res.
Unlike in other posts I went with quality over quantity which means that instead of putting as many pages from the same issue as possible I chose the original art pages of the highest quality. At the moment Marvel Comic has released some new Artisan Editions - which are smaller than the Artist or Artifact Editions and in the softcover - including one about Jack Kirby´s FANTASTIC FOUR but while the Artist Editions of that are out of print I don´t consider them a viable option. The reason - at least for me - to get an Artist Edition is to see the original art pages in their original format.
They might be more expensive but if I pay 100 plus bucks - which is more than 200 bucks in real money - I want something special to make up for all the comicbooks I had to sell and the new Artisan Editions are just souped up Marvel ESSENTIALS. And you could buy those for ten scheckels a piece.

We´re going old school with the next video examinating the original 1976 Fantastic Four cartoon with all the original members, not the one with Herbie. Most people probably already know this but in case you haven´t heard it elsewhere there is a persistent urban legend that the robot Herbie replaced Johnny Storm on the team in the cartoon show because parent groups were afraid kids would light themselves on fire to emulate the human torch. Like in Fantastic Four issue 285 " Hero " which is not only one of the best Secret Wars II tie - in issues ( which is also a prime example why it is my favorite crossover event and one of the reasons why it pains me so much to this day that I had to sell the now out - of - print omnibus hardcover ) but one of John Byrne´s best issues of his entire Fantastic Four run. Anyway, like I said, the urban legend is that Johnny Storm was replaced out of fear kids could burn themselves or other things when in reality they had to do it because another company had plans to develop a Human Torch live action tv show - which in the end sadly never happened - so somebody else had the rights to Johhny Storm.
One of the reasons why I decided to include the video above is that it is extremely difficult to find a video from the original Fantastic Four cartoon.
I usually try to keep things well balanced between comic book stuff, pop culture tidbits and ultimate sexbombs but as you can see we had a lot of comic book related birthdays up until now. That´s because on the other side I do not want to make things more confusing than necessary and try to keep the birthdays of the same day in one post. If possible. Anyway, with that said we come to the part most of my readers are waiting for because on March the 27th we have one of these ultimate sexbombs.

Now aside the ever changing unrealistic breastsize, as readers of this blog know I have been a big fan of the cult siren - in every sense of the word - since forever and a day and I bet there was a whole plethora that was relieved when I made the decision to split my blog into a comic book blog and a boob blog because they weren´t inundated by dozens of Mariah Carey posts anymore suffering all those hot pictures of the sex symbol.
Of course this meant I was given free reign to my obsession with Mariah Carey and to give you an idea : on the boob blog there where so many Mariah Carey posts that I had to create one big Über - post with links to all the other posts so I could put it in the links. Sadly Debbe Dunning who turned 52 on July the 11th never starred in a Russ Meyer movie despite having the body for it. Cynthia had played Edy Stark in previous Andy Sidaris movies ( probably neither related to Tony Stark nor Arno Stark ) but she didn´t leave a lasting impression on me before GUNS where she looks sexier than ever.
Now undercover as a lounge singer in Las Vegas this movie gives Ms. Brimhall the perfect opportunity to overload your pleasure centers with ultra sexy performances of the title song and " Sooner or Later ". While her onscreen lip - sync is quite horrendous, her actual singing voice on the soundtrack is quite respectable. Man, that Andy Sidaris guy sure knew how to make movies because with that beginning you are already happy.
If you watch the movie you have to wait till the credits, because there is a short scene that was cut from her initial dance scene at the beginning.
Another great scene is her performance in her black push - up corsage.
This part of the movie is the best part or the worst part depending on the fact in which format you have it. I found GUNS on the internet and one of the negative things I found out about the version on my DVD is that a part of Cynthia Brimhall´s spectacular breasts are cut off in the close ups.
The other bad news is that while it says it´s the uncut version for 18 year olds there are two scenes that were cut. One where the agent whose cover identity is a magician kills two gangsters who killed his brother and the other one where the chopper with the bad guys is shot down and you see the wreckage and the dead bodies. While that in itself is annoying now that I have seen the uncut version the scene in the movie where the bad guy Degas - played by Erik Estrada - says that they must kill the magician in retaliation for killing two of his men finally makes sense.
Andy Sidaris was probably THE BEST director of action movies for adults and his cast is a WHOS´S WHO of playmates : 40DD Playmate Of The Month November 1984 Roberta Vasquez , hot 34D Page 3 girl turned sex therapist Ava Cadell , 41D Penthouse Pet Of The Year 1993 Julie Strain , Samantha Phillips, 34D Playmate Of The Month May 1994 Shae Marks , 36D Penthouse Pet Of The Month February 1993 Julie K. Now I´m probably the only person on the planet who hasn´t yet seen the animated version but longtime followers of the blog can attest that I have always been a big fan of alternate timelines like Marvel Comics What If ? DC Comics Elseworlds , Avenger´s The Gatherers or X - Men´s Age Of Apokalypse runs - especially alternative timelines in which everybody dies.
Even if the What If ? comics don´t always have grade a artists ( and they DO have some great artists like Gil Kane , Gene Colan , John Buscema and Ernie Chan , Sal Buscema , Frank Robbins , Jack Kirby , Carmine Infantino , Tom Sutton , Walt Simonson , Ross Andru , Joe Sinnott or Tom Palmer to name just a few ) the stories more than make up for that - in most cases.
Now on one side I am glad that a lot of people are exposed to this material - even if only one percent of this huge audience is willing to check out the original comicbooks because it takes an effort - and I am not sure if we would have gotten the latest What If ? omnibus without the cartoon.
On the other side you know that all this hype will lead to the usual over - inflated prices which is why I jumped at the chance to get volume one at a decent price. I mean, at a hundred bucks for around 800 pages it is 20 Euros above what it should cost and it´s only going to increase from there. I am still waiting on the second volume because for one I don´t consider those issues as essential as the ones in the first volume. And secondly, since it has a higher page count than the first volume it has a higher price tag so I´m waiting to see if I can also get a bigger discount.
Since Stan Lee and Jack Kirby´s FANTASTIC FOUR was the comic series that put the science in science fiction in the Marvel universe Today´s featured cult tv show is Misfits Of Science, known as The Rebels Of Science in the spanish speaking world and as The Specialists On The Move in Germany.
Pop culture relevant tidbits : you might recognize two cast members from their later roles as Max Wright garnered worldwide recognition as Willie Tanner on the mega popular 80s sitcom ALF and Courtney Cox who is best known as Gale Weathers in the Scream trilogy but mostly as Monica Geller on Friends. Apropos, Courtney Cox and Max Wright had their own little Misfits Of Science reunion when Max appeared in two episodes of Friends.
I´m still trying to get more readers from Spain but I have to admit I don´t know how successful I´m going to be with My Science Project since I have not seen it. What I do know is that the film has the word " science " in the title and what I have heard about the movie has been unisono positive.
DEPARTEMENT : LET´S DO THE TIME TRAX AGAIN, IT´S JUST A JUMP...
For my non spanish speaking audience we are taking a look at Time Trax a science fiction tv show with a lot of potential that offered a different take on time travel and which was taken down before its time. You can find the ad for that series on the back of a lot of comicbooks from 1993.
DEPARTEMENT : SHE BLINDED ME WITH SCIENCE - WEIRD SCIENCE !
Speaking about comicbooks there probably is no other series that comic fans, afficionados and critics alike connect with science fiction like the Weird Science anthology from Bill Gaines. Since it had an impact on such famous science fiction icons like George Lucas it stands to reason that it also had an influence - however small - on Marvel Comics FANTASTIC FOUR.
As a big fan of the EC Comics I´ve done a number of posts on the subject : I did a special black and white tribute post to William Gaines in 2017 with two full stories, one by Johnny Craig and one by George Evans, in 2018 I did two posts, one for the horror books and one for the other titles EC published and I also did special spotlight posts for Jack Davis and a black and white post with the complete original artwork of the story And All Throughout The House by Johnny Craig from THE VAULT OF HORROR 35.
I didn´t write any EC Comics posts in 2019 but in 2020 I wrote a post in honor of the late William Gaines with stories by Johnny Craig, Graham " Ghastly " Ingels and Joe Orlando - who got a spotlight post - as well as one in tribute to the late Bernie Krigstein and two about Johnny Craig . And last but not least last March we had the obligatory William Gaines tribute .
Besides publishing the best comic in the genre of horror, science fiction, war, crime fiction and many others ( which every comic book fan or comic book creator worth his salt needs to read to understand what you can do within the medium of comic books ) he also created a whole new genre with the creation of Mad magazine when his competitors, censorship and the Comics Code Authority forced him to cancel his most successful titles.
Unlike Tales From The Crypt, The Vault Of Horror or Two - Fisted Tales there has been no movie adaption of Weird Science ( There is a Weird Science movie with Kelly LeBrock and a tv series but they are not based on the EC comics and since I have already written at length about it in these posts I won´t go into more detail. ) so I was looking for an appropriate movie when I chanced upon The Brain That Wouldn´t Die from 1962.
Now I did find two versions of the movie : one hosted by the Mistress of The Dark herself, Elvira and one without Elvira´s famous commentary and antics. Although I have no idea who would prefer the second option.
Staying with girls with a lot of bounce in their big pumpkins, I have not seen many episodes of Tiny Toons - I think I was busy doing one of these boring life things like going to school or work when it was on - but for some reason I caught one with Julie Bruin, their answer to Jessica Rabbit.
Which was a stroke ( no pun intended ) of luck since Julie Bruin sadly only appears in that very episode. I think the most I saw from the Animaniacs universe was the spin - off show Pinky & The Brain because my brother is a huge fan of that one. I also had a nice stack of the german comics from Dino Verlag - somewhere between ten and a dozen - since I grabbed them whenever I found some issues in good condition in the 1 Euro or less bins.
Now while I have posted this before I don´t really consider it a re - post because the other video has been deleted. Which was one of the reasons why I wanted to include Julie Bruin in this post. The other one was that I haven´t posted any of the animated Julie Bruin GIFs that I found online.
Since I have already mentioned him twice in this post and it´s not that often that you find a Russ Meyer movie on YouTube here is as a Schmankerl for my german followers the cult movie The Devil Women From Titfield.
After that much death, sex and violence, well, mostly death and violence since I don´t have a problem with the sex part. Although now that I think about it there sadly has not been that much sex or nudity. Anyway, to end on a positive note here is an incredible tribute to the late Bill Withers.
