I wrote in one of my latest posts that I hope to return to our usual comic shenanigans soon and seeing as I didn´t get to do a post on Jack Kirby´s last anniversary and I had also mentioned his series THE DEMON in that same post I wanted to put more great original Jack Kirby art on the blog.
From all of Jack Kirby´s creations at DC Comics THE DEMON is not as well known as his FOURTH WORLD epic or OMAC ( which foresaw things like cell phones ) so I didn´t expect much when I started reading these issues.
Now don´t get me wrong, as somebody who always had an affinity for the weird, undervalued or long forgotten characters of comicdom Etrigan was definitely on my radar. And not only because Jack Kirby based his looks on a disguise Hal Foster used in one of his PRINCE VALIANT strips. I am also very interested in the occult and the supernatural which is nothing new to those longtime followers who have read my posts on recycled covers from the german horror pulps JOHN SINCLAIR and GESPENSTER KRIMI .
Anyway, while I had this great interest for Etrigan I read more appearances of him in other magazines or in series written and drawn by other artists - especially John Byrne´s BLOOD OF THE DEMON - than the original version.
Like a lot of comicbook readers I passed on this book so imagine my surprise when I started to read it and was quickly completely immersed.
There is this prevalent notion that Jack Kirby´s writing is not as good as Stan Lee´s writing and that it´s hard to read his solo books. Which is true if you expect the same marvelous hyperbole and exalted exaggeration Stan Lee deservedly was well known for. In life he always got a lot of flack because people felt that he took a lot of the credit other creators were due but you can´t deny that there are some of the very best issues in comicbook history that were penned by him. Like I said, if you read a series like THE DEMON expecting to get a similar experience as from your usual Marvel Comic mag by Stan Lee you are in for a big disappointment.
But if you go in with just the exception of letting Jack Kirby be your tour guide to the supernatural underbelly of the DC universe you will get a blast out of it. Granted, Jack Kirby doesn´t write like Stan Lee but that doesn´t mean that it´s inferior. People are different and Jack Kirby had his own ideas and concept and there is a crazy abundance of that in THE DEMON. It´s seems like he is throwing five new concepts at you in every issue and there is no shortage of crazy ideas. So strap in for a bumpy ride.
While this video is not explicitly about THE DEMON it does tackle the subject of Jack Kirby´s religious beliefs and how they influenced his work.
Keeping kind of a theme going here are 11 Extremely Hot Female Horror Villains and I have to mention that german audiences never got to enjoy the full extent of 35C - 24 - 36 Angie Everhart´s depravity in Tales From The Crypt´s s Bordello Of Blood because her best scenes were censored.
Not sure if it was because of the nudity or the oversized demon tongue.
What I DO know is that the tv movie Satan´s School for Girls from 1973 not only sounds like the title of an issue of Jack Kirby´s THE DEMON, it also stars strangely enough not one but two heavenly bodies, two angels.
Charlie´s Angels to be exact with brunette 38B - 24 - 33 bra buster Kate Jackson and blonde 35C - 22 - 33 bikini body Cheryl Ladd. You know, I never got to watch many episodes of Charlie´s Angels when it originally aired but for me Farrah Fawcett was a cut above the rest. The one who got the closest to her level of sex appeal was Cheryl Ladd while I always had the impression that Kate Jackson never took advantage of her playmate body.
In Germany she was very successful with her series Scarecrow And Mrs. King ( which in Germany was changed to An Agent With A Heart because the original title didn´t make much sense in german ) but at that point she had already made the transition from possible MILF you wanted to bang to the desperate housewife you end up with at the swinger party.
There´s no secret message hidden in Kat Graham´s Put Your Graffiti On Me that is revealed when you play it backwards. It´s just a music video that I included in various posts but had to take out again for various reasons. And since I don´t have another music video that fits the theme of our post I want to use the opportunity to finally put it on the blog.
Coming back to things that go bump in the night, I haven´t seen much episodes of the original Scooby Doo cartoon since I mostly saw them in the holidays in Spain. Lately I have watched more of them, especially the newer series and a few of the movies. One I can wholly recommend is the Batman crossover which is one of these whacky ideas that should not work but does. And as always my utmost reading recommendations goes out to Scooby Doo Team Up. Some of the issues are hit and miss for me - when it´s a cartoon show I am not familiar with - but overall it was DC´s best team up series during its run. Which should tell you something.
Speaking of recommended things I would love to bump at night, I can´t be the only one who would prefer it if the Melon Mistress of the Dark Elvira would show me her funbags since I couldn´t care less what´s in her bag.

Coming to Today´s celebrity birthdays, we have two comicbook related ones, Phil Foglio and Tim Sale so last year I made another two - fisted double feature ( since I didn´t have enough material for a full Tim Sale post ) which includes some birthdays from April the 30th and Today.
Speaking of which, Douglas Barr turns 71 who is best known for his role of hapless Howie Munson, Colt Seaver´s cousin on The Fall Guy. As my followers know I watched The Fall Guy religiously so I must mention him.
Longtime readers know that while Markie Post was practically in everything that was on tv in the 70s and 80s she became one of my ultimate sex phantasies on the show The Fall Guy which every male that was alive in the 80s remembers - and we will get to the reason why.
Like most growing teenagers I watched that show religiously but the biggest part of its appeal for me were sexbombs like Heather Thomas and Markie Post who didn´t appear as often in a bikini as I would have liked.
Well, Heather Thomas did since that was her main purpose on the show but Markie Post´s appearances in bikinis on The Fall Guy were very few.

Markie Post played bail bonds contractor Terri Michaels ( who replaced previous bail bonds contractor Samantha Jack played by Jo Ann Pflug ) beginning with Season 2 and at the beginning she played a minor role.
But Markie Post knew that she was destined to super stardom, so when the opportunity arose that one of the producers of the show who was a bit smitten with Markie appeared on the set she managed to set up a few meetings - just to discuss her role of course. Even though he claimed to be happily married the business meetings turned into private meetings which were then relocated to a secret no - tell motel where Markie used her relentless body and her natural ability to spread her legs better than a fillipino hooker to give the lucky guy who was hung like a horse a Kama Sutra crash course with more than the twenty three positions in a one night stand including sexual practices that are illegal in fourteen states.
After Markie had successfully dicktamed the guy six ways to Sunday during these weekend long squirt marathons he was only too eager to convince the rest of the guys in charge what a complete waste it would be to have somebody like Markie on the cast without letting her " show off what her Mama gave her " like they say Today and the rest is 80s tv history. So Markie got more involved in the stories where she stole the scene from Heather Thomas as soon as she donned a bikini ( mainly in season three ).
In The Fall Guy Colt Seavers always tried to avoid Terri Michaels and the reason they gave was that the jobs she got him always turned out to be more dangerous than she made them look. But if my bail bonds contractor was a walking sex machine like Markie Post with a fantastic bikini figure and legs for miles up to her chin I would have taken every job she had.
Of course I would have waited until she was really desperate so I could get a higher price and I would insist that instead of paying in cash she would have to work it off in naturals. In the show Colt Seavers has an outdoor bathtub and I would have ended the episode with Colt using Terri as his personal blow up sex doll in the bathtub while Terri spreads her legs apart.
I know that such a scene probably would not have passed the tv censors but if it would have been too much to show full frontal nudity with Markie Post they could have shown her back while she was sliding up and down on Colt´s hard boner. Or the could have shown Colt´s back so you could see Markie legs going high in the air and then opening up and slowly coming down on both sides of Colt´s back ending in a perfect split.
80s Power Girl Markie Post is probably the best known cult siren on the blog because not only have I done many re - posts of her original post .
I also keep mentioning her in other posts and her original post is in the Top Ten Posts widget that appears on every post. Since I have done so many different versions it is not so tragic that I did not do a re - post last year even though I did the last version of her cult siren entry in 2016 .
THERE`S SOMETHING ABOUT HEATHER THOMAS - AND HER BLUE BIKINI
But The Fall Guy didn´t just have 80s Power Girl Markie Post they also put blonde bombshell Heather Thomas in the show right from the beginning.
She played stunt body double ( and what a body it was ) Jody and her job was to keep the male viewers hooked by providing eye candy. She was in all episodes except for an episode in the first season. Yes, fan service is not as new as some people might want you to think and Heather Thomas mainly got the part because of her absolutely amazing bikini figure. OMG !
It took a few episodes before she could strut her stuff but once the tv guys got a taste of Heather it happened more often and the famous blue bikini scene was quickly added to the new intro of the second season.
For generations of adolescent young boys the only highlight of the week was the short moment when Heather appeared in her famous blue bikini.
Coming back to Heather Thomas, thanks to her absolutely stunning 37 ( ! ) - 23 - 32 measurements and the exposure in The Fall Guy she became a famous pin up model with posters in every hormone driven boy's bedroom.

The blonde brabuster might not be the most recognizable name in show biz, but surely the most recognizable breasts !

Whenever the subject of Jack Kirby and Stan Lee´s co - operations come up people argue who did what and who didn´t get as much credit as he deserved. What is no secret is that when Jack Kirby went to DC Comics to create series like THE DEMON or his FOURTH WORLD saga he was less than happy about the working conditions at Marvel and vented his frustration by creating the character of Funky Flashman in MISTER MIRACLE who was a not very subtle caricature of Stan Lee. Now as some might not know that was not the only time a comicbook creator sought an artistic way to address grievances with the higher ups.

We have not one but two ps in Paulchen Panther which is how the Pink Panther is called in Germany. I really tried to watch an episode in the original language but it´s too weird for me to just have the musical score instead of a rhyming narrator like in the german version. This is one of the instances where a tv show or movie is better with the german dubbing.
Today´s entertainment section is really like an episode of Sesame Street about the letter p. After Put Your Graffiti On Me, horror hostess extra ordinaire Cassandra Peterson, Phil Foglio, 80s Power Girl Markie Post, Verona Pooth, more playmates than you can shake an adult magazine at and Paulchen Panther we come to the 1956 movie Patterns. It was written by Rod Serling, best known for his work on the original Twilight Zone show.
