Now I have mentioned him in a few times but I have not written a lot about Jim Starlin himself in those posts. I did one post on THE INFINITY GAUNTLET but that was more focused on George Perez art, there is what I hope to be the first post in a series about the issues Jim Starlin drew of Peter David´s CAPTAIN MARVEL but that also was more about my gripes and likes with Peter David and I still haven´t gotten around to write the DEATH IN COMICS : THE MANY DEATHS OF ADAM WARLOCK spotlight.
Even my first Jim Starlin post I wrote way back in 2014 and which was supposed to be about his comic DREADSTAR was more about how I discovered it, the EPIC ILLUSTRATED magazine and the original Marvel Comic graphic novels and how they were presented in Spain and Germany.
Which is the reason why I wanted to return to Jim Starlin´s DREADSTAR since it is one of those forgotten or never discovered series ( especially here in Germany ) that every comicbook fan worth his salt should read before dying. It´s one of the most brilliant books out there you will ever experience, not only artwise but also where the storytelling is concerned.
My dilemma here is that I don´t have a lot of time to do these spin - off posts and I still want to put something awesome from DREADSTAR on the blog. To make matters worse while I DO have a lot of good material most of that is scheduled for other posts about DREADSTAR and the prologue THE METAMORPHOSIS ODYSSEY. So I am including some color pages that are not essential to those and I hope I can do the subject justice in the future.
We are still running behind on our celebrity birthdays which we pick up on the 5th of October when Terri Runnels celebrated her 53rd anniversary.
She is of course best known as Golddust´s bitch Marlena, the original wrestling MILF before the term MILF was even invented. Terri always looked like the small version of a blow up sex doll - the travel version that fits in your suitcase - and she was always at Golddust´s side sucking seductively on a big cigar while every male in the audience fantasized about getting some oral lubrication from Terri. Naturally all of this was just part of a cheap ploy to distract them so they could be brutally clobbered from behind .
Another great television moment in wrestling history had to do with the consequences of a fight in which Golddust lost Terri to Flying Brian Pillman and all the wrestling fans wishes came true when he made her wear a skimpy leather porn outfit. I don´t know if he really used Terri like a fillipino prostitute in his hotel room to vent his uncontrollable sexual stamina and nobody´s talking about it so we can get no confirmation.
The line between manager, valet and sex slave has always been blurry in wrestling and it is a well known fact that Arne Anderson used Tylene Buck as his personal blow up sex doll because he claimed he could help her with her career and other members of the NWO - no pun intended - like Scott Hall frequently used all the valets for shall we say recreational purposes.
Later on the degenerates from Misfits In Action subjected Tylene to all night sex position warfare and she really served under canadian Lance Storm who together with the other members of Team Canada tag teamed relentlessly pumping the busty blonde until she became a willing member.
It is also common knowledge that Billy Kidman drilled Torrie whenever he could while the rest of the Filthy Animals really lived up to the name by taking turns banging Torrie Wilson´s pornstar body into submission when they were on tour. Which was on three hundred ( that´s right, 300 !!! ) days of the year. Rumor has it Konan was especially eager at taming Torrie.
Besides participating in the usual badly shot WWE Diva videos like Divas in Hedonism , Divas Tropical Pleasure or Postcards from the Carribean ( the only WWE Diva video I can really recommend is Divas Undressed because the main part is a competition and therefore they could not screw this up ) another of Terri´s greatest moments in wrestling history was when she competed in the Miss Rumble Contest during the Royal Rumble in 2000.
Not only did she wear a suit that left little to the imagination - her entire backside was practically naked - she also knew what the audience wanted and leaned wide over the top rope to the point where she almost fell off.
I also have to give props to nubian sex goddess Jaqueline who seldom got as much play as she deserved for being an afro american wrestler with huge melons. Her swimsuit barely covered anything and her giant 38E milkshakes were in full effect. Of course the WWE had to ruin the end - like they do in most bikini, swimsuit, wet t - shirt or other Diva contests that could arouse their audience - by bringing on some old wrestling fossils. I don´t know why they have to be so giant erection stoppers.
Since we are on the subject of female wrestlers I want to continue my tribute to the late Ashley Massaro who made her debut by winning the 250,000 $ 2005 RAW Diva Search thanks to her stunning 36C - 24 - 32 measurements beating out cheerleader Layla El and Elizabeth Mikloski.
Ashley was never the most successful WWE Diva or the best female wrestler but she was still a great athlete with incredible muscle control, she had a lot of fans, she always was in a good mood and always made a great show. And not only because of her very skimpy wrestling outfits.
Although the removing of her clothes had an undeniably big impact on her career. Longtime followers of the blog know that I have often commented about the differences of the female wrestling divisions of the WWE and TnA iMPACT Wrestling, the main one being that the knockouts are more focused on real wrestling while the Divas are more wrestling centerfolds.
Lately that has changed a bit ( although I haven´t seen any WWE wrestling lately and I´m not even sure if there still is a TnA wrestling company ) but during Ashley Massaro´s time in the WWE female wrestlers had to fit into Vince McMahon´s idea of the Diva division. Which meant that they were one step above wet t - shirt / bikini contestants ( of which they had quite a lot ) or playmates ( and a lot of them did nude photoshoots for PLAYBOY ), nice to look at and if they had wrestling moves even better but their main purpose was to be drooled all over by male wrestling fans.
Now you can see that as either a good thing or a bad thing but coming back to Ashley Massaro and removing clothes there was a lot of that going around during her time with the WWE. Not only because most of the Diva matches were Bra And Panty matches or Fulfill Your Fantasy matches ( in which the participating blow up sex dolls had to dress up as the fans favorite sexual fantasy ) but because Ashley also competed in a Divas Lingerie Pillow Fight match and a Playboy Bunnimania Lumberjill match.
On top of that she won the first ever Bra And Panties Gauntlet match as the last diva standing still wearing her clothes and to please her fans she removed them herself before making her exit. I am also sure she won a lot of points when she stripped down Kristal, Michelle McCool and Jillian Hall in a Fatal Four - Way Bra And Panties match at the Great American Bash.
Before getting into wrestling Ashley was a very successful model who was Miss Hawaiian Tropic USA in 2002 and Miss Hawaiian Tropic in August 2004 and posed nude for PLAYBOY in 2003, 2004 and 2007 ( the first two times under the name Mackenzie Ryan ) which helped her gain a lot of fans.
She also played Athena in the episode Combat on Smallville ( where she is beaten by Erica Durance ) alongside wrestler Kane who played Titan.
Today´s Ashley Massaro match is against brabuster Jillian Hall and while regular readers might get a feeling of deja vu this is not the same match I posted last time. This titanic clash of the tittilating blondes took place on March the 2nd in 2007 and for me Jillian Hall was always sorely underused ( no pun intended ) by the WWE who only saw her as comic relief. With her Power Girl - esque 36E - 26 - 36 measurements she was predestined for the role of the ultimate wrestling sexbomb who drives all men crazy but all of that ejaculation wrestling sensation potential was wasted. Anyway, this was supposed to be the last part of my Ashley Massaro tribute but while writing this part I came upon a new one that deserves to be shared with all my faithful readers so we will see her again in the next installment.
Longtime readers know that one of my pet pevees on this blog is celebrating all the brave actresses who turn insufferable dreck into bearable entertainment by taking their clothes off or at least show what their Mama gave them and who don´t get enough recognition for that .
So I just have to mention sci fi cult sexbomb Olivia Thirlby who turned 33 on October the 6th. So far I have only seen her in Dredd where she did a really terrific job portraying everybody´s favorite leather clad blonde DD bombshell with legs up to her chin, the seductive Psi Judge Anderson but that role alone has secured her a position in the cult siren hall of fame.
The only negative thing I can say about the movie is that Olivia´s nude sex scene was way too short and filmed too much out of focus. What good are all the high definition cameras, blue rays and giant plasma screens with perfect picture resolution if the picture is all blurry ? This is the worst misuse of digital technology since Disney shrank Lindsay Lohan´s booming teenage boobs in Herbie Fully Loaded. What a waste of time, money and resources not to mention an incredibly horny sexbomb like Olivia Thirlby.
I don´t understand why they didn´t show the scene right and why it was not longer because in my opinion the movie could have only benefit from it. I mean we already got the adult rating and it´s not like we would have done anything different with blow up sex doll Judge Anderson in that situation than what the perverted perp really wanted to do with her.
On the same day cult sexbomb Julie DuPage celebrated her 47th birthday who may not be known to american audiences but I first saw her on the french tv show Extreme Limite . The show was called Die Draufgänger in Germany which means The Daredevils so you might say that in some way it is connected to comics even if in title only. I tried to find it on Blue Ray or DVD but there was another show of the same name later on and it´s the only one that you can find. In any case, Julie DuPage doesn´t have super big breasts but boy, did she know how to squeeze her funbags right.

Julie DuPage also played another character, Lucie on another french soap called SOUS LE SOLEIL ( Under the Sun ) or simply ST. TROPEZ in german with another tv cult sexbomb, Florence Geanty who was perfectly cast as she plays the ex - stripper Marie ( who is called Marion in the german version which made it a bit difficult for me to find infos on her ) who the ex - cop of the series tries to reform. It´s not hard to see why and he even ends up marrying her but like in all soaps it has to end in tragedy.
Now very often women in soaps don´t look like they could really do the job they have on these shows - like Kyra Sedwick who in real life couldn´t scare a mouse - but Florence Geanty really has a porn star body that could have launched her into a very successful career as a striptease super star.
So far I have only bought half a season of ST. TROPEZ - for some reason they have divided all the seasons into two parts - because the other one with the best episodes of Florence Geanty is going for an obscene amount of money at amazon right now for obvious reasons. But I´m not getting any younger and I really don´t know what exactly I am waiting for here.
As always the list of birthdays in this post is completely random and highly subjective and you can find more of them from September the 26th up to October the 6th in this post . Now I know that we already have a comic related video with Judge Dredd´s Psi Judge Anderson but I came across this fantastic video that not only has the first issue of Dreadstar, it also tells you everything you need to know about what happened before. And since I plan to do more posts about this series I wanted to include it and I hope I can post the following Dreadstar videos in future Jim Starlin posts.
Speaking about the future, here is another top ten list, this time the 10 Underrated Science Fiction Movies You Must See, or in my case 3 movies I have to see because I have already seen seven of the movies on this list.
I don´t know if I would put Real Steel on that list but lately I have been somewhat obsessed with the film. Mostly because I wanted to re - watch it but couldn´t. I don´t know if my Mom took it to Spain or my brother has it or we gave it to my sister but I could not find it and so had to buy it on BlueRay ( this is one movie where the higher definition really pays off ).
Which was more expensive than I thought. With so many movies being available for a fraction of their initial price a few years after release this film still demands a high price. If you have seen the trailer you will not be surprised that the plot unfolds exactly as you would expect but I think if a movie sticks to a formula that works it´s not necessary a bad thing. In this case the film turns out better than one could expect and it has everything you would want from this kind of movie. A great part of that falls on the shoulder of the cast which is like a Marvel movie reunion with Wolverine Hugh Jackman, The Wasp Evangeline Lilly and Falcon Anthony Mackie ( not related to comicbook writer Howard Mackie ). By the way, if you haven´t seen the movie you should probably skip the next clip. Because spoilers.
We are keeping the future vibe going with a song from the spanish show LA PARODIA NACIONAL, and since it has been four years since I mention it I should probably explain it a bit for my new readers. It was a show where political topics were turned into satire to the melody of famous songs.
I guess this kind of songs became popular among the spanish populace during the restrictive regime of Franco and while in Germany most people still have the mentality of helpless peasants in dealing with the state and its elected representatives the people in Spain are much more distrustful of politicians. It´s one of the reasons why there is no real investigative journalism in Germany aside from a few exceptions like Günther Wallraff.
Anyway, during the time I was watching it LA PARODIA NACIOONAL was one of the most popular shows on tv and there were always five teams competing with each other for best parody of the week. The lyrics of the songs were written by viewers and interpreted by various artists of which LAS MIRANDAS was my favorite group - for obvious reasons. The show was a nice way of keeping up with actual topics ( which were always explained before the song and most often they did a little report with a hidden camera or an inquiry ) and see some hot women at the same time.
You can find a lot of these clips on YouTube and I picked the one below because it´s one in better quality - the show is rather old - with the hot sister team of Laura and Patricia Ugarte a.k.a LAS MIRANDAS in a really hot outfit and because it´s always interesting to see how people envisioned the future in previous eras especially when one is living in this future.
Yes, baby, I´m doing a full science fiction section with Casshan, another anime I´m not familiar with. I think there are several episodes in the video below and is it just me or were the 1990s the high point of animation ?
Speaking of high points of entertainment and series I am not familiar with I thought that Blake´s 7 was just another of those cheesy old british sci fi series. But when you can get past the low production values and the bad special effects it´s quite the imaginative, inventive and surprising show. For starters the beginning blew me away because it was quite unusual.
Much more sociopolitical implicated than one would think as it tackles a lot of things that go wrong in Today´s world. So far I have kind of watched it while finishing up this post ( these old shows also make excellent audio dramas ) and I am at the sixth episode and can´t wait what happens next.
