Which is why picking the art for this post was so difficult. There were so many good original art pages that it was difficult to bring it down to 23.
Because I wanted to include so many personal favorites but I also didn´t want to break up issues. So this time around I have first and foremost tried to include pages from the stories and characters that I most fondly remember and as always your mileage may vary. Anyway, since I had to leave out so many pages don´t be surprised to see a second part of this very soon. And now feast your eyes on one of the greatest Superman artists that ever lived. As I said in my last post it was a stroke of equal parts luck and genius that I decided to go over the list of celebrity birthdays once more because our first candidate is a new entry and for some reason she was only number 375 on that list. So we are starting on February the 15th Zsusza Csisztu who turned 50. I thought I had already posted something about her since I wrote a special post on my old boob blog about this " faked " Power Girl.
There was a clip on the internet about her for some time with subtitles so I don't know what it said originally. It's supposedly about a female news anchor who had taken breast expansion pills with astounding results.

I had no idea from which tv station the clip was the only thing I had was the title " Csisztu Zsuzsa " which could have been her name, or the name of the tv station or of the tv show. We are staying with the greatest things to grace a tv screen - although we throw a bit of that comicbook stuff in there - with Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons who turned 66. I almost couldn´t find the post where I had already written a lot about the comicbook series but that was because it was in 2012 and I didn´t have a " Simpsons " tag back then.
Anyway, now that I have found ACH DU LIEBER ! MEINE GERMAN COMIC READS again I luckily don´t have that much to explain about the german versions or which series I still read. Since I don´t make it to Ludwigsburg or Stuttgart as often as I used to I mainly buy Weissblech Comics when I am at the newsstand like CAPTAIN BERLIN, ZOMBIE TERROR, their newest hit series ZOMBIEMAN or the classic HAMMERHARTE HORRORSCHOCKER.
I started to read Brian Michael Bendis´ new SUPERMAN series but like I already explained at length in this post I don´t like the german translation so I will have to get the US hardbacks. Apart from that I am still reading the new AMAZING SPIDER - MAN but I couldn´t stand the level of SJW preaching in AVENGERS. Some of the art by Ed McGuinness still looks good but the characters are utterly ridiculous or completely unrecognizable.
As for Simpson comics I almost never buy them at the newsstand but whenever I see a trade for 5 bucks or below on amazon I just add it to my order. Which happens more often then you might think. That´s one of the reasons why I find it so hard to pay 5 bucks for a floppy : for the same money I can get a trade at amazon. I also bought the RADIOACTIVE MAN compilation hardcover at half price and daimn, that sucker is fatter than you think. But I am not reading as much Simpson comics as I used to do.
There is the odd special or one - shot whenever I need to fill up my order at the online comic store but that´s it. The only series I at least try to keep up with are the SIMPSON`S TREEHOUSE OF HORROR specials. The good thing here is that if I miss an US issue I always can go to the german version. And I also found an oversized special from that series at amazon´s bargain book section. Anyway, here in Germany the episodes are still on the air and still promoted heavily and it´s also constantly in reruns on at least three channels so there is no shortage of SIMPSON`S content on tv.
Coming back to der ultimate Sexbomben we have Wencke Myhre who celebrated her 73rd birthday. I had the hots for her when I was in school.
Because she was not only funny and had the tireless body of a playmate of the month when she was in her prime but her wardrobe could even rival Caroline Munro´s Sinbad outfit or the uniforms of the female members of the Legion of Super Heroes. Fashion went horribly wrong somewhere from being only one step above lingerie in the 80s to what women wear now.
I have no idea how she pulled it off but despite her stunning physique that made movie actresses jealous and always wearing mini skirts and plunging cleavages she never was typecast as a sex symbol in Germany.
We start our Dearly Departed section with two comicbook related anniversaries. The first one´s name may not be familiar to german comic readers but Willy Vandersteen definitely had a huge impact on the german comic scene. He was the artist on Suske en Wiske which was called Spike and Suzy in Britain, Willy and Wanda in the US. and Ulla und Peter here in Germany. While the main series didn´t have much success there was a spin - off book Jerom that became hugely popular under the title of Wastl.
Especially when the main character gained super powers. The series first came out every two weeks but because of the high demand by readers soon switched to a weekly publication. This book was the sh!t. Before Superman, Spider - Man or Captain Marvel Wastl was my go to superhero.
This series was read by every kid in my school and was finally ended with issue 173. Willy Vandersteen also worked on a Winnetou comicbook which is why I mentioned him in my big GERMAN COMICS 101 : KARL MAY´S WINNETOU spotlight post which all fans of westerns should check out.
The second one is better known since Sax Rohmer created of Fu Manchu who appeared in novels, movies and comicbooks as the big bad in The Deadly Hands Of Shang Chi, Master Of Kung Fu - which is not only one of Marvel Comics best Bronze Age series but one of its best series period.
For those who came in late and missed out on all the kung furying / karate chopping martial arts action I wrote two posts about the series in general and did five spotlights : one for each of the artists, Gene Day , Paul Gulacy and Mike Zeck , a special post on Gil Kane who provided a lot of the early covers and one for all the other artists who worked on this great book.
For decades I have said that before making an Iron Man, Thor, Hulk or Avengers movie where Marvel has to put millions into the cgi they should do an Iron Fist or Shang Chi movie because all you need there are kickass ( in this case quite literally ) martial arts. But now that the Shang Chi movie seems to be finally on the horizon I fear into what kind of SJW preaching garbage the Disney guys will turn it to. I mean on the Iron Fist tv series all the clueless non comicbook reading millenials were up in arms because the main character was played by a caucasian male who not only was a white dude in the original comicbooks but the whole series does not work if it´s not a white guy. Which every person who has read the series understands.
But Hollywood has never bothered to read or respect the source material so why should it be different ? In any case, before Disney fills everybody´s heads with the doubtless SJW clichefest they always produce now here is the untold truth about Marvel Comics real Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu.
Since this is a Superman related post we are making a very quick stop on February the 16th ( and we´ll come to the reason why in a moment ) when Ice - T turned 62. Not only is he an award winning musician, iconic rapper and accomplished actor he also managed to get married to a real life blow up sexdoll who is the personified wet dream of every black man : a white sexual freak built like a sister with an ass that just won´t quit.

There are a few celebrity birthdays from Today that I have to mention, starting with Jerry O´Connell who celebrates his 46th anniversary. He has been the voice of Nightwing, Captain Marvel and Superman and appeared on Crossing Jordan. I tried to to watch the show but in the first episode I saw she let herself get railroaded in the courtroom even though she was the foremost authority in her field. I don´t know but I got the feeling the writers of the show tried to make her like Temperance Brennan on Bones but failed. Jerry also played Sheriff Dan Lamb on Veronica Mars with bikini 34D siren Charisma Carpenter best known as Cordelia on the show Angel.
One of these days I´ll have to get the first season of Veronica Mars to find out how it all started since I came in at the tailend of that season - as usual. Besides Veronica Mars Charisma Carpenter was also in episode 11 of season 5 of Burn Notice where she showed she still can deliver the goods.
In Germany only the first three seasons of Burn Notice have come out on DVD and right now I´m halfway through season 2. I´m not sure if I should wait any longer to see if they will do the rest someday or just get them through imports. Now that I´m invested I want to know how it plays out and there is even a spin off with Bruce Campbell´s character Sam. In any case Charisma´s funbags alone are worth the price of admission . Daimn !

When I cast Kari Wuhrer as Gypsy in my Casting the Justice League movie series she hadn´t appeared on The Flash. So when I chose Kari for that role Gypsy´s super powers did not include vibing between dimensions but when people read it now they might get the impression that I chose her because of the tv show where she was sliding between the dimensions.
The other thing is that way back in 2006 ( yep, this blog has been around that long ) I wrote a special post called GYPSY IST VERWIRRUNG ! about a story that was a two - fisted combo of JLA CLASSIFIED issues 22 to 25 and JSA CLASSIFIED 14 to 16. The art is by the often underrated Tom Derenick while the story was written by veteran comics scribe Steve Englehart and it´s - how can I put this nice ? - racist towards gypsies. I don´t know why.
Maybe teenage Steve went to get his fortune told because the carnival gypsy not only was just a few years older and had the measurements of a playmate of the year, she also had two giant sized tits like big melons and all the guys in class went to her to stare at her pornstar worthy cleavage.
But instead of reading his palm the horny nymfomaniac used him as her living dildo in dozens of secret only known to gypsies sex positions thus ruining him for all other women then left town without saying goodbye.
Whatever the reason there must be some serious trauma involved there.
Kari also was in Hot Blooded, a really bad movie that doesn`t even have full frontal nudity. Nevertheless it´s one of my favorite movies with Kari because she looks really hot in this one. You get to see a lot of cleavage and boobs and in the first sex scene on the bed you can see her sexy ass.
And because one scene where she´s at a gas station and pulls down her leather top to make the desk clerk horny. She´s really pulling it in all directions so you get to see her full boobs. I have no evidence but I swear I can see some nipple. I bet Kari had to do this scene a hundred times as the crew was sabotaging all takes just to see her boobs again and again.
In any case, I had this scene on a video tape on a loop and I must have heard the words " This material just doesn´t breathe ! " a hundred times.
Like I said there is no full frontal nudity in this cineastic masterpiece but you get a bit of sideboob in a scene that was heavily cut on german tv.
They cut parts from when she´s using a whip to get into the mood and pours hot wax on his body. They also cut some parts from where she´s on top of him which I didn´t know until I found the movie on the internet.
Damn you, german tv for keeping Kari Wuhrer´s sideboob away from me !
There is however no sideboob involved in our next birthday babe, Denise Richards who turns 49, only full frontal in her most famous scene from Wild Things - for which she could have used a body double but she declined.
