Comic book legend Doug Moench celebrated his 71st birthday on February the 23rd and if the blog header alone is not enough of an indication about how much I love THE HANDS OF SHANG - CHI, MASTER OF KUNG FU then the many posts I wrote on the subject alone should give you an idea.
For those who came in late and missed out on all the kung furying / karate chopping martial arts action I wrote two posts about the series in general and did four spotlights : one for each of the books artists, Paul Gulacy , Gene Day and Mike Zeck and a special post on Gil Kane who provided a lot of the early covers. I have been pimping the book like crazy and I like to think that I had a small part in convincing Disney to finally reprint this.
Right now I still haven´t read the third omnibus but I have bought the fourth and final volume as a present to myself when it was offered at amazon Germany for 70 bucks. Which is not only a huge discount from the regular price of 125 Dollars - 119 EUROS in german comic shops - it´s also less than what I paid for volume three. I don´t know if I will get the other two as omnibus though because I am not such a huge fan of Paul Gulacy and I have already bought the first Epic collection of MASTER OF KUNG FU with the second one coming out in July ( again just in time for my birthday although I will have to wait until it is at an affordable price ) which covers the rest of the first omnibus and half of the second one.
Now if all Doug Moench did had been writing THE HANDS OF SHANG - CHI, MASTER OF KUNG FU it still would have been enough to secure himself a place in the comic olymp but he didn´t and I wrote a special post about all the series he worked on in 2016 . What I appreciate much more now then when it was coming out is his writing during Gene Colan´s tenure on the Batman titles since I really didn´t get Gene Colan back then. I became a bigger admirer in recent years which led to these three posts about that.
Okay, this is the part where I talk about the genesis of this post which most readers probably skip to get right to the art. For those who are still with me as I have written in my last post I postponed this one because I knew it would take me a few days to put the material in order. What I didn´t know was how long it would take. As I have also said I have already done posts on the three main artists Mike Zeck, Gene Day and Paul Gulacy.
Which made me wonder : what about all the others ? Because aside from these there have been a lot of creators, some of them big time artists, who have graced the pages of this title and who never come up in all the discussions of the book. So as somebody who always puts a spotlight on all the underrated, underappreciated or overlooked comic book creators I have decided to put all the other artists in this post. There is some Gene Day art in this because apparently I have the most original art pages by him in my MASTER OF KUNG FU folder. There is also a lot of Mike Zeck art although not much original art in good quality. I have also included two pages from WHAT IF ? 16 which look really great. Anyway, let´s see what the rest of my readers have been up to and get to the art I selected.
We start with the anniversaries of notice that I missed since my last post and on February the 27th we had somebody who I am already missing greatly since he was one of my favorite artists, the late Norm Breyfogle .
For me Norm Breyfogle was always in my list of the top five Batman artists.
Of course everybody has their favorites but for me the number one spot clearly goes to Jim Aparo. His Batman was in all the stories I read, in The Brave and the Bold and later Batman and the Outsiders one of my favorite books of all time. He drew most of the iconic stories and his Batman was always very consistent unlike Neal Adams´ Batman who looked different depending on if it was in World´s Finest, The Brave and the Bold or the Batman stories. Still Neal Adams is my number two because of all the great stories of my youth that he drew with Batman going up against Ras Al Ghul bare chested and kissing Thalia. But Norm Breyfogle comes close behind.
I don´t remember how many books Jim Aparo and Neal Adams drew each month but when he was on the Batman books Norm Breyfogle drew both books almost continuously. There were a few stories where other artists stepped in but I don´t recall if that was to give Norm a breather to catch up on the monthlies or because Norm was drawing another project. But if you read Batman between 1987 and 1993 it was all Norm Breyfogle. As for the other two Batman artists in my top five list I would say Marshall Rogers and Don Newton ( I always liked his art ) with a honorable mention for Kelley Jones who for me drew one of the best and most underrated runs.
Coming back to Norm Breyfogle, as longtime readers know even before his death I had started to actively seek out more of his work. Which was in big part due to the research for this blog. Because you never realize just how much some artists have done unless you really have to take a good look. At the moment I have completed most of his mainstream work like on The Spectre but there are some independent books that still elude me.
I have managed to find two issues of Danger Dozens but it seems nobody has this. I hope that somebody reprints this but it seems highly unlikely. In any case, I have found a lot of original art from the series online which will probably end up in a post somewhere if I can´t do a review. It will not be my next Norm Breyfogle post because there are a few pages left that I couldn´t fit into my last one and I want to get that out of the way first.
I wrote my first Norm Breyfogle post in 2013 into which I put everything you would ever want to know about him including the kitchen sink. My second post was about when they finally started reprinting his work on the Batman titles in chronological order in Spain ( with the original text in spanish and translated to english by Yours Truly ) and my third post had artwork from various of the books he worked on as did my fourth one .
And finally I did a spotlight post on his work on the Batman titles last year.
I wasn´t sure if I should include Oana Andoni who celebrated her 41st birthday Yesterday in this post because I just wrote about her in the KARL MAY / INTO THE SPIDER - VERSE SPIN - OFF POST but I just know that if I leave her out I will forget her birthday next year. I have mentioned the blonde Busenwunder from romanian tv station Pro TV a few times and for those who want to know how I became aware of her I explained it at length in this post . Anyway, it has been a long time since I wrote about her because I always wanted to do a follow up post but then all the videos with her I had bookmarked were deleted so it made no sense to do it.
Another reason why I never made the follow up post is that there is not much information about Ăœber busty Oana Andoni especially in regards to her breast size. This must be a thing with hot news casters since she is not the only one where finding some information is almost impossible.
Ever since I first wrote about Enki Bracaj I have been getting request for more videos with her since those are not that easy to find on YouTube but it seems I never get to do it. So I am including links for the best ones I have left right below. There are a few ones I am keeping just in case but these are the best ones of Enki in action that I have not posted yet. As for news about everyone´s favorite news girl aside from an interview where she went on record that her breast size is 34DD and all natural ( sadly I can´t link to the interview because the website is NSFW ) there is nothing new to report. Here are the videos with Enki in all her glory :
7:47 min of Enki letting it all hang out / 7:14 min of Enki´s boobs trying to bust free / 6:05 min of Enki fronting / 6:00 min of Enki letting it swing / 5:56 min of Enki letting it all hang loose / 4:55 min of Enki pushing her big boobs together / 4:47 min of Enki trying to keep the twins down / 4:17 min of Enki delivering the goods / 3:46 min of Enki getting jiggly with it
Coming back to Oana Andoni she was born on the 28th of February in 1978 which makes her 41. 41 is also probably her cup size, 41DD or 41E in the least. In her case the term melons is right on spot. OMG ! You can find a biography here but for some reason my google translate function doesn´t work so if anybody out there wants to lend a helping hand and translate it it would be much appreciated. When I didn´t need it google translate was constantly going off but now that I really could use it it doesn´t work anymore. What you can peruse without any translations is this link to a gallery with some pictures of Oana Andoni and at least she is on facebook.
What I still remember from when google translate worked is that there was a big scandal in 2016 because Oana wore a very transparent shirt during a live newscast - or what ever you call the piece of clothing that tries in vain to cover up Oana´s gigantic double airbags - and so the audience could see more than usual ( sorry, I haven´t found that clip yet ) which surely made for excellent ratings. I don´t know what they are complaining about since this is exactly what every male viewer was praying for years.
So here are the breast Oana videos I have not posted yet and I hope I can post the next ones pretty soon because I still have a lot of them left.
We are staying with blonde sexbombs who would be great in a Power Girl movie with Monica Farro, a former Miss Uruguay and star contestant on argentinian dance show Bailando Por Un Sueno who celebrated her 43rd birthday. I have already posted a few clips from that show so I don´t have to explain it ( basically it´s the porn version of Dancing with the Stars as the female contestants have all done porn or at least appeared in adult movies and instead of normal dances they do super steamy stripteases ) which is the reason why I thought I already wrote something about her.
Including her in these posts is always astruggle because she is just too sexual. I have put her in previous posts as well as a few NSFW GIFs but for this post I thought it to be more prudent to put her in a spin - off post together with russian Schaubusenbesitzerin ( some things you just can´t translate ) Anna Semenovich. In the case of Anna it has nothing to do with her material being too explicit I just wanted to post more pictures.
As for videos with Monica, all the clips with her erotic strip dances from Bailando Para Un Sueno are of very low quality as are most of the others. And even if some of them were available - like her threesome or foursome sex scenes from Sexo Seguro - I could not post them in clear conscience.
Our last anniversary for February the 28th is the late Arnold Drake. If you are not familiar with his name don´t worry, I had to do a bit of research myself which made me decide to pay homage here. Most people don´t know his name but he surely left his mark in the comic book landscape because he co - created The Doom Patrol with artist Bruno Premiani, Stanley And His Monster with Win Mortimer and Deadman with Carmine Infantino at DC and at Marvel he created Mesmero, Lorna Dane and Havok and co - created the original Guardians Of The Galaxy with Stan Lee.
The reason why I wanted to bring Arnold Drake to your attention is that lately DC´s band of misfits has generated a lot of buzz first on the new Titans tv show where the episode with the Doom Patrol was one of my favorites and then with the new Doom Patrol spin off series. So far I have only seen episode one but it seems they are adapting the famous Grant Morrison run more than anything else. And I have to confess that as iconic as this version is I have actually never read much of it aside from one issue that I bought way back when I started to do my military service in Munich and walked into my first real comic book store. I just grabbed everything that looked new or unfamiliar and spent about a hundred bucks on comics.
And back then even the comics with the good paper only cost about 1.50.
I always meant to buy the omnibus and I was tempted a few times when it was offered for 55 EUROS or less but I never got the cash to spend and it never worked out. So I know more about the Doom Patrol when they had a new roster and Steve Lightle and later Erik Larsen were the pencilers.
When I read about them it was when they teamed up with other DC heroes in books like Crisis On Infinite Earths or The New Teen Titans.
And with that we are back with the tv show because I liked the Doom Patrol from Titans and I was surprised that they changed the actor who plays the Chief Dr. Niles Caulder. Not that Timothy Dalton is a downgrade.
Coming back to magical cleavage windows, Power Girl Anna Semenovich turns 39 who also could easily fill out that role or star in any Russ Meyer movie with her bonerinducing 43E ( !!! ) bust. I don´t know what it is with former female athletes that makes them boob out that much after ending their career ( you may remember hungarian gymnasts Csisztu Zsuzsa and Stefany Hohnjec who turned into mega endowed brabusters ) but I guess that when they stop with the doping it gives the female hormones that have been suppressed so long a chance to come back with a vengeance and turn them into the ultimate Sexbomben. Now in the case of former figure skater Anna Semenovich I don´t want to say she was born for porn ( which totally could be the title of a reality tv casting show for porn stars in spe ) but nomen est omen and she has the word " semen " in her name.
If Oana Andoni´s XXL boobs are melons Anna Semenovich´s giant - sized double airbags are easily the size of medicine balls. Really big ones. With her breathtaking measurements of 43E - 24 - 36 it didn´t surprise anyone that she went into showbiz after her very successful career as a figure skater during which she won several national and international medals.
She didn´t follow up with the usual model career but with a body that is predestined to induce huge erections it would have been crazy not to cash in on that and Anna has done shootings for the russian editions of FHM, Maxim and PLAYBOY much to the delight of her horny country men.
Anna also had musical aspirations and after being a part of the russian girl groups Charlie´s Angels and Blestyashchie ( The Brilliants ) she went solo.
One last thing I have to write about with Anna Semenovich is her acting career and as a former figure skater and with her Ă¼bercurvaceous porn star body she has become a fixture of russian entertainment be it appearing on a tv show where she struts her stuff in the sauna even though she sadly is wearing a bikini but thankfully squeezes her huge milkshakes into a tight cleavage afterwards, doing a testosterone booster commercial or most notably starring in the russian movies Gitler Kaput from 2008 and The Taming Of The Shrew from 2009. And you can find even more pictures and sexy videos of Anna Semenovich ( as well as Monica Farro ) in this post .
It´s back to comic books with Ed McGuinness who celebrates his 45th birthday and I have the feeling that I somehow missed the boat when it comes to him. He is one of the artists that I used to follow but since he only does the occassional Marvel project with heroes I don´t care about - like Deadpool - it has been ages since I read a new comic book by him.
I tried to read the latest Avengers relaunch ( I have lost count how many times they have relaunched this book now ) and his art is solid as always but it´s just impossible to read it. It´s like the guy who wrote it only knows some weird unauthorized mexican comic book versions of the Marvel characters or has seen some of the cartoons and got them mixed up with all the bad 90s cartoons. I don´t recognize any of the characters anymore. So it has been quite a while since I wrote about Ed McGuinness.
Aside from popping up in various solicitation posts ( which I did a lot of back when you were actually excited to hear about new books coming out from Marvel or DC instead of gritting your teeth waiting to hear who f - worded which character up ) it was back when Jeph Loeb relaunched the Hulk with a new number 1. I did a special post about that issue trying to find out who was behind this new red Hulk ( and I only want to mention that the person who turned out to be the red Hulk was on my list of suspects ), I did a short post on issue 12 which had some printing errors - at least the copies my comic shop got - and I also mentioned his run on HULK in this post that is an overview of my favorite periods of the book.
But who knows ? I still want to do a post on his great work over on DC like his run on Jeph Loeb´s Superman Batman and not only because it gave us one of the most famous - or infamous depending on your stance on Power Girl´s boobs - DC moments involving Power Girl´s magical cleavage window.
But seriously, his issues convinced me to buy the second Absolute Edition of Superman Batman. As regular visitors of this blog know I´m a huge fan of Carlos Pacheco and his work at DC in particular. One of my favorite DC stories is Absolute Power and I always wanted to buy as a hardcover ( I also have the trade ) but all the hardbacks I have seen so far break when you open them. I don´t know why but the same thing happened to the US editions of the hardcover for JLA / JSA - Virtue and Vice. Anyway, when I saw the Absolute Editions of Superman Batman at a reasonable price I was very tempted. I didn´t get the first volume because it contains Michael Turner´s Supergirl story and while I like his art in general it doesn´t work here ( especially the coloring looks muddy and confusing ) and this version of Supergirl never did much for me. But aside from one special issue with a lot of guest artists and one issue by Ian Chuchill ( again with the Supergirl ) the second volume is all Carlos Pacheco and Ed McGuinness goodness.
Man, it all comes back to the Power Girls. Speaking of which, one of the hottest babes on tv ever Catherine Bach turns 65 and I almost forgot it.
So I went back to my old posts to do some of the old flim flam copy / paste magic where I reuse some of the stuff I have written previously and add some new stuff. I know, it´s kind of cheap but I don´t always have the time to write something completely new. And it makes it easier to include links to older posts for new readers. In any case I could not do it here because it seems that so far I have only mentioned her when one of the other cast members of The Dukes Of Hazzard had an anniversary or on Barbara Bach´s birthday because a lot of people get those two mixed up.
Now Catherine Bach deserves a long cult siren post of her own and in fact I did a special Valentine´s Day post for her over on my old boob blog but as usual I never got around to transfer it here. I will try to do an abbreviated version because the post also covered all the other actresses who played Daisy Duke on tv or in movies as well as Catherine Bach´s appearance in Cannonball Run II which as longtime readers know is one of my guilty pleasures. But we don´t have the time nor the space for all that Today.
Anyway, as most people on the planet know Catherine Bach is best known for playing Daisy Duke on the show The Dukes Of Hazzard or as it´s known in Germany One Duke Seldom Comes Alone ( Ein Duke kommt selten allein ). The show was on german tv when I was very young but the only time when I saw it on a regular basis was years ago when I was back home in Spain and there was nothing else good on tv at that time. So I saw a lot of The Dukes Of Hazzard as well as Wonder Woman with busty Lynda Carter.
Talk about all babe tv. By the way, the perks of seeing Wonder Woman in Spain - or in the original version - is that only the Nazis speak german. When you see it in Germany everybody you see is speaking german.
So the only thing I knew when I wrote my first post on Catherine Back was that John Schneider - who played Bauregard " Bo " Duke and Superman´s adoptive father Johnathan Kent on Smallville has a german background.
And there was an episode where Tom Wopat - who played Luke Duke - visited Jonathan Kent on Smallville where he played an old friend.
What I learned through my research is that Catherine Bach´s real name is Catherine Bachmann ( it´s probably Katharina Bachmann ) and that her father is german and her mother mexican. Which may explain her drop dead gorgeous good looks. Man, there were a lot of germans on that show.
Wow, Catherine Back really had one of the best set of legs to ever grace the tv. Well, her and Markie Post but we will come to Markie in a moment.
Another thing I didn´t know about Catherine Bach is that she also was a fashion trendsetter. You probably know all this but for someone who did not grow up in America it was a big surprise to learn that the name for the cut - off shorts Catherine is wearing on the show is Daisy Dukes. That´s right, they were named after the sexy woman that made them famous.
And to think that they were originally planning to get a girl that looked like Dolly Parton ( not that there would have been anything wrong with putting a Busenwunder like Dolly on the show ) and that Catherine wasn´t sure she could wear her shorts on the show. And I´m saying " her shorts " because she made many of the costumes she wore on the show by hand particularly those seen in early episodes, including tops, the red bikini seen during the first episode, One - Armed Bandits, that was immortalized in the opening credits and her famous trademark Daisy Duke cut - offs.
Originally I was going to write that Catherine Bach should have been in bikinis more often but since I still have only seen the first three seasons I don´t know if she wore a bikini or any swimsuits for the rest of the show.
The only time I really watched more of the show was when one of the channels here in Germany showed reruns of it. So I naturally jumped at the chance when the first three seasons were offered at amazon at ten bucks a pop. From time to time I check to see where they are but at the moment they are at 25 bucks a season which is almost as much as I paid for the first three seasons together. Sooner or later I will have to start ordering them because Catherine alone is worth the price of admission.
That was not as long as I feared but it seems I have already posted all the good videos with Catherine Bach. Which is okay since most of her clips on YouTube are either very short or of poor quality or both and when you find a good one it gets deleted anyway. We also need a cartoon video for this post and one thing I am sure I have mentioned before - I´m not sure if all my readers are aware of this - is that there was a cartoon in 1983 called just The Dukes. So far I haven´t found a full episode but here is the intro.
Today we really cover a lot of movies and tv shows like with our next birthday candidate Dirk Benedict who celebrates his 74th birthday and who always plays the aceman, the spaceman in Battle Star Galactica and the faceman in The A - Team. Where he basically plays himself since you can see Dirk on the set of Battlestar Galactica in the A - Team intro.
Among the many female guest stars on the show was also cult siren Markie Post who appeared in two episodes but of course I only saw the one where she is dressed as a nun ( not LIKE a nun but literally AS a nun ) the entire time. Thankfully she was not as covered up on The Fall Guy even if she only appeared in a bikini in three episodes - at least as far as I know.
But The Fall Guy didn´t just have 80s Power Girl Markie Post they also put blonde bombshell Heather Thomas in the show right from the beginning.
She played stunt body double ( and what a body it was ) Jody and her job was to keep the male viewers hooked by providing eye candy. She was in all episodes except for an episode in the first season. Yes, fan service is not as new as some people might want you to think and Heather Thomas mainly got the part because of her absolutely amazing bikini figure. OMG !
It took a few episodes before she could strut her stuff but once the tv guys got a taste of Heather it happened more often and the famous blue bikini scene was quickly added to the new intro of the second season.
Like most growing teenagers I watched that show religiously but the biggest part of its appeal for me were sexbombs like Heather Thomas and Markie Post who didn´t appear as often in a bikini as I would have liked.
Well, Heather Thomas did since that was her main purpose on the show but Markie Post´s appearances in bikinis on The Fall Guy were very few .
Markie Post played bail bonds contractor Terri Michaels ( who replaced previous bail bonds contractor Samantha Jack played by Jo Ann Pflug ) beginning with Season 2 and at the beginning she played a minor role.
One of the producers must have realized what a waste it is to have somebody like Markie on the cast without letting her " show off what her Mama gave her " like they say Today and the rest is 80s tv history. Markie Post got more involved in the stories where she stole the scene from Heather Thomas as soon as she donned a bikini ( mainly in Season 3 ).
80s Power Girl Markie Post is probably the best known cult siren on the blog because not only have I done many re - posts of her original post .
I also keep mentioning her in other posts and her original post is in the Top Ten Posts widget that appears on every post. Since I have done so many different versions it is not so tragic that I did not do a re - post last year even though I did the last version of her cult siren entry in 2016 .
Another birthday shoutout goes to Roger Delgado born as Roger Ceasar Marius Bernard de Delgado Torres Castillo Roberto ( as someone who has experienced the difficulties german bureaucracy has with a guy that has four names I can understand why he felt the need to shorten his name ) who shaped Doctor Who´s classic best frenemy the Master. Together with Unit he was one of the mainstays of John Pertwee´s tenure of the earth bound timelord and they not only had great on - screen chemistry they also were best friends. When Roger died in an accident in Turkey John was so devastated that he decided it was time to wrap up his time as the Doctor since he could not imagine continuing the series without him.
We started this section with comic books and we end it the same way as our last birthday shoutout goes to William Gaines who created such classic series like Tales From The Crypt, The Vault Of Horror, The Haunt Of Fear, Two - Fisted Tales, Weird Science, Weird Fantasy etc., etc., etc. And with a blog called Tales From The Kryptonian I just have to mention Mr. Gaines.
Besides publishing the best comic in the genre of horror, science fiction, war, crime fiction and many others ( which every comic book fan or comic book creator worth his salt needs to read to understand what you can do within the medium of comic books ) he also created a whole new genre with the creation of Mad magazine when his competitors, censorship and the Comics Code Authority forced him to cancel his most successful titles.
As a big fan of the EC Comics I have done a number of posts on the subject : I did a special black and white tribute post to William Gaines in 2017 with two full stories, one by Johnny Craig and one by George Evans, last year I did two posts, one for the horror books and one for the other titles EC published and I also did special spotlight posts for Jack Davis and a black and white post with the complete original artwork of the story And All Throughout The House by Johnny Craig from The Vault Of Horror 35 which was featured in the Tales From The Crypt movie from 1972.
I was just about to finish this post when I realized that in Germany Fasching has already started. So for all my german readers who now have a little more free time on their hands here is another video you can watch.
New to the blog ? Everything you need to know about TALES FROM THE KRYPTONIAN : top ten posts / more posts of interest / best of the best
