While I still have four more posts to complete finishing up the last one went quicker than expected so I thought I could throw another one in the mix. And keeping in mind that I solely depend on the pictures I find while finishing up my posts I went with the subject I found the most material about : DOCTOR STRANGE . And as it couldn't be any other way we start with Gene Colan's groovy version of Marvel's sorcerer supreme .
Now I was a bit hesitant to write this post and not just because I still have other posts to finish. I also was not sure if it wasn't too soon after my last DOCTOR STRANGE DAY post but I looked it up and I wrote that back in April. And as incredible as it may seem while I have done one DAREDEVIL spotlight post , one about THE TOMB OF DRACULA by Marv Wolfman and Tom Palmer , three ( !!! ) about his work on the BATMAN titles and three posts with various titles he worked on I never made one about one the titles he's best known for. I mean, by the Eye of Agamotto, the cover to DOCTOR STRANGE issue 172 is even part of my blog header !
Also this post gives me the opportunity to include some of the videos I had to cut from my other posts. But more about that later. now seeing as this is not the first time I mention the good Doctor Strange in my posts and neither my first Gene Colan post I don't feel the need to go into a lengthy explanation about what makes this character or this creator so special. If you want that there are enough articles out there written by people who are more knowledgeable and more eloquent than me. And keeping in mind that this is supposed to be a quick post ( yeah, like that ever works out ) we go straight to the artwork I selected for this post.
One last thing, you may notice that I start with the big numbers and then go to the small ones and that's because I'm going in chronological order.
And as any comicbook historian worth his salt knows back in the 1960s comicbook companies had to pay a fee for every new title they published so to save money most publishers just changed the name of an existing title and continued with the numbering. So the very first number 1 of DOCTOR STRANGE was in the second volume while his first solo issue was DOCTOR STRANGE 169 continuing the numbering from STRANGE TALES.
Since my PAUL SMITH X - MEN post has been blocked so I can't work on it for the moment let's see if we can wrap up things at least here. As this is not my first Doctor Strange post I could not find a video about that series that I have not posted. But I got one about another famous sorcerer from pop culture - Michael Moorcock's Elric Of Melnobone - and the art is by P. Craig Russell. Who may not have done much with Marvel Comics master of mysticism but he drew the fan favorite and critically acclaimed one shot What Is It That Disturbs You Stephen ? which is his redrawn version of Doctor Strange Annual 1 from 1976 with which he was not satisfied.
As longtime blog followers know long before the Doctor Strange movie came out there was an attempt to launch a Doctor Strange tv series with a tv pilot that didn't exactly set the world on fire as I have posted both - the full length tv pilot and Brandon's Cult Movie review of that particular train wreck - before. In any case I want to include this episode from Ayer Nomas that covers the failed tv pilot for my spanish speaking fan base.

But seeing as I don't remember when I last read a comicbook it is also not getting lower in the near future. Anyway, at the moment my free time is focused on finishing all the posts that I started on the blog - hopefully before the end of the year - and if I'm still alive in 2023 maybe I can read some of the big omnibus books I bought last.
From Crayton's comicbook hunting we come to a completely different relic hunter as we are taking a look at the making of Stephen Spielberg's iconic Raiders Of The Lost Ark ( Hunters Of The Lost Treasure in german ). They announced a new Indiana Jones movie with Harrison Ford and I don't know how I feel about that. On one side he is really getting too old for these kind of action packed movies on the other side it's not as easy as with James Bond to pass the mantle. There they can just take another 00 agent and promote him to 007 but Harrison Ford IS Indiana Jones.
They tried the passing of the torch to a younger generation in the last one and failed so epic that anyone does their best to forget - or at least ignore - that ever happened. So as long as the new one is better than the last one I'm happy. I think a good idea would be to make a different kind of Indiana Jones movie that has less action and instead depends more on Harrison Ford's abilities as an actor in the vein of Daniel Craig's Skyfall.
Going back to horror from action adventure we switch from relic hunters to ghost hunters with a John Sinclair audio drama for my german fans.
Staying with der classic german horror we examine The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari which I have already included in previous posts as the film was much more influential than just inventing the horror movie genre. Ja.
Since we are already on the subject of german black and white movies here is The Inn On Dartmoor from 1964 with Heinz Drache who starred in The Brides Of Fu Manchu but is best known in Germany for appearing in Edgar Wallace films, most notably The Mysterious Magician and the sequel Again The Ringer ( german title was News About The Magician ).
So we've come full circle back to magicians and horror which is a good segueway to another episode of Inside Of You and the guest of honor is Tom Holland whom you know from his participation in Psycho II, Fright Night, Child's Play and the Stephen King adaptions Langoliers, The Stand and Thinner. I told you we would come back to Stephen King later on.
While the quality of the Stephen King adaptions may vary most movies have at least one redeeming thing and of course one of the best things - if not THE best thing - about Thinner is 38C - 24 - 33 science fucktion cult siren Kari Wuhrer who really knows how to scorch up a screen with her fantastic funbags as Kari plays the quintASSential gipsy woman that everybody would love to slam - bang behind Henderson´s tool shack.

Then also did anyone notice that they always said that they could not get involved and change things but in the end they always did it ? The worst at this was Wade and she was a character I hated because she was so annoying with her hippie mentality. So when they got rid of that flat chested drama queen after the introduction of Kari Wuhrer I wasn't sad.
They tried to turn it into a show with two wild guys and two sexbombs but let's be real here Sabrina Lloyd just wasn't in Kari Wuhrer's league.

Most people have already forgotten it at this point but Robin Williams also starred in a comicbook - or rather a comic strip - movie, Popeye from 1980 which I saw in the movie theatre. Popeye's love interest Olive Oil was played by Shelley Winters who blog regulars might recognize as the narrator, host and also executive producer of Faerie Tale Theatre.
From Farie Tale Theatre we come to Thimble Theatre which is the name of the comic strip where Popeye, The Sailor Man made his debut as a background character. This may be a re - post but I wanted to include one Popeye cartoon episode for my german followers and I think that if nothing else this is of much higher quality than the last one I posted.
