I know that some of my readers expected a post about Bernie Wrightson since Today would have been his 70th birthday but it´s still too early for me to process his passing. So in the meantime I am doing a post on which I was quite frankly already working in Berlin. Not that I want to give the impression that I am working day and night on this blog for the benefit of my readers. My brother informed me that some of my announcements about our convention appearances sound like I see myself as a rock star.
Which is probably the farthest away from the truth. In any case, I did schlepp my laptop all the way to Berlin in the hopes of posting some things on facebook during the con. As it turned out I couldn´t even get a connection so while I was trying in vain to enter the internet I started preparing this post. Speaking of trying to get a connection, the first day we arrived in Berlin there was an extremely busty sexbomb at the Hostel that would have been right down my alley but I was too bummed out to approach her and even if I would have managed to work up the courage to speak to this living blow up sex doll she would have probably just brushed me off. I didn´t write a lot about Joe Kubert in this post because I have already done so multiple times and I don´t like to repeat myself. Now don´t get me wrong, I copy / paste as much as the next guy because otherwise I would never finish these posts ( and you will get a lot of that in the following section ) but if you repeat something too often it gets boring for the readers. Apropos, I also told the story of my personal meeting with Joe Kubert at one of the first Comic Salons in Erlangen I went to more than once and the last time was in a post I wrote back in 2016 which naturally includes a lot of his great art. I should not have to mention this but besides working on such classic super hero books like Hawkman or Ragman ( whom some of my readers may know from his appearance on the Arrow tv show ) he excelled in depicting real life war stories which he did in such series like G. I. Combat, Our Army At War, Weird War Tales, The Unknown Soldier, The Losers and Sgt. Rock, the book he´s best known for.

Rounding up Today´s bonus comic book content you may have noticed the cover of Das Geisterhaus from german publisher Condor in this post. The series presented various issues of DC´s House of Mystery series to the german comic reading audience and for those visitors of the blog who also read german comics the always reliable Jacub Kurtzberg from DAS SAGTE NUFF has compiled a list of what was reprinted in which issue. While the covers may not be that appealing it offers a real treasure trove of artists including Joe Kubert, Bernie Wrightson, Jim Aparo, Ernie Chan, Alex Nino, Ernie Colon, E. R. Cruz, Alex Saviuk, Don Newton and Eduardo Barretto.
It seems that I have not written many post between the 23rd and 26th of October in previous years and I don´t have the time to go through the list of each day to see if there is somebody that I should mention. So I hope that all hot babes whose birthdays fall into that time frame will come to my attention in some other way. And as there also are no comic related birthdays that I covered previously we go directly to Today´s birthday list which is rather short. But as usual there are cult sirens aplenty. Speaking of which, we start with Robert Picardo who celebrates his 65th birthday and after going through his imdb rap sheet I realized that I have seen him in a plethora of movies and tv series before he starred in his breakout role of the Emergency Medical Hologram on Star Trek : Voyager, possibly the worst Star Trek series ever. I can´t say for sure because I gave up on the newest version after two episodes. Anyway, longtime readers know my disdain for Star Trek : Voyager and the only reasons to watch the show were Robert Picardo and Jeri Ryan who played the inflatable DD Borg playmate with the big melons and a skin tight bodysuit Seven of Nine.
For that Jeri Ryan earned herself a proper cult siren entry in 2015 which I re - posted in 2017 . Fun fact : Jeri Ryan and Robert Picardo reunited on the set of Body of Proof. Coming back to Star Trek : Voyager I´m sure there were thousand of Star Trek fans who wanted to be ass - imilated or better tit - milated by Borg sex drone Jeri Ryan and have Sex with Nine.

Changing the pace originally I wanted to include another top ten list with the worst horror movie remakes but then I decided that since I already posted one such video why not do something more positive ? So instead of a list of movies you should avoid here is a somewhat different top ten list that includes Alyssa Milano´s breast movie Embrace of the Vampire.

As every year I don´t get to write too many posts before Halloween but I still want to reduce the huge pile of Halloween - or horror - related videos I bookmarked. So here is a Teens React video about 1970s horror movies, sadly without the usual highlights for which I always get into trouble.
Speaking of Halloween, I always include some reading recommendations which usually fall into the horror type genre so this year I want to pimp a different kind of Halloween story. And while Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale´s BATMAN : THE LONG HALLOWEEN does have a lot of spooky elements ( when you get down to the basics you could argue that Batman is a horror comic since so many members of his rogues gallery seem to be taken from nightmares and Batman´s modus operandi is dressing up as a giant bat to scare the living daylights out of criminals who are a superstitious and cowardly lot ) at it´s heart it is a classic Who Dunnit murder mystery.
Which was the reason for it´s incredible success because back at that time that was something that was solely missing from the Bat universe.
Okay, on one side it is a bit hard to swallow that the supposedly greatest detective on the planet needs a whole year to unravel this riddle but if he solves the case in the first issue you don´t get twelve more issues. In any case, if you haven´t read this story - and with new comic readers starting every month because of the movies I guess there is quite a number out there - give it a try. There are plenty of options available from the cheap back issues to trades, hardcovers or even absolute editions and even if it is not a horror comic per se it´s the perfect read for one Halloween night.
Taking a hint from Monty Python´s Flying Circus once again we are taking a break from all the gloom and doom with the nicer things in life which in this case are provided by romanian news anchor Oana Andoni. As I had promised in my last post here is the next batch of videos with the real life Power Girl. I don´t expect them to last long so enjoy them while you can.
So far we had two videos talking about horror movies so I think it´s time to include something a little bit more substantial. It has been a long time since I posted an episode from Are You Afraid of the Dark ? ( a series I discovered and came to appreciate thanks to the research for this blog ) and here is The Tale of the Midnight Madness one of their best stories.
And for those who prefer more mature horror here is The Evil a.k.a. House of Evil. I found this some time ago and almost passed it up when I saw it stars Richard Crenna best known as Colonel Samuel Trautman from Rambo.
By the way, another reading recommendation are the Rambo books by David Morell. Especially the first one has a let´s say mind blowing surprise.
I want to wrap up things with a less creepy cartoon, Dr. Seuss The Cat In A Hat and we will all pretend the movie with Mike Meyers never happened. Although when you think about it the way the cat just invades the kids home and then doesn´t go away is unsettling from Today´s perspective.
