We have another unscheduled spotlight this time about Steve Epting's legendary CAPTAIN AMERICA run with Ed Brubaker that introduced the world - or should I say the comic readers - to the Winter Soldier since all the normies had to wait for CAPTAIN AMERICA AND THE WINTER SOLDIER.
As to the genesis of this post, there I was just minding my own business and looking for some original CAPTAIN AMERICA / WINTER SOLDIER art to include in the part about all natural 46E - 27 - 38 cosplay Busenwunder Angie Griffin in the cult siren / pop culture trivia section of my RED SONJA / Frank Thorne spotlight post because as I have mentioned ad infinitum in my recent posts my old picture archive is in digital limbo.
Which means that I am practically starting at zero but since I always try to avoid posting material I already used in previous posts I went to the blog archive to see which original CAPTAIN AMERICA art by Steve Epting I have already posted and I was very surprised to find out that I did write about Ed Brubaker's run on CAPTAIN AMERICA a few times and I also did a few Steve Epting spotlight posts but it seems I never wrote about both.
Since I had already said all there is to say about the Ed Brubaker run on CAPTAIN AMERICA by the time I did my first Steve Epting spotlight post I kept mostly to his work on THE AVENGERS . Which includes one of my favourite parallel world where everybody dies stories The Gatherers which apparently had enough fans to get the omnibus treatment and I had the luck to recuperate at least that tiny part of my former comic collection when they were offered at amazon with a bit of a discount.
Anyway, coming back to the topic of this post longtime readers know that I don't like to do a Marvel Comics post right after another Marvel Comics post - and with RED SONJA , THE INCREDIBLE HULK's Crossroads , the Andy Kubert Psylocke spotlight and the Gambit spin - off post we already have four Marvel Comics posts in a row - but with the way things are going who knows if I can still access all the original CAPTAIN AMERICA artwork on Steve Epting's next birthday. In any case a CAPTAIN AMERICA spotlight post for Steve Epting is long overdue - especially since I could not write one on his last birthday - so there's no time like the present.
One last thing, while I titled this a Steve Epting post there may be also the odd page by Luke Ross or Butch Guice included who helped Steve Epting out when the dreaded deadline crunch loomed near. And now let's get to the good stuff back to a time when writers knew what Captain America was all about without turning Mr. Rogers into a Hydra operative.

WE LOVE A MAN IN UNIFORM : UNDER SIEGE 2 - THE BAD SEQUEL !
Looking for stuff about war movies or at least about the military trusty VIDEOBUCK presents another video store bargain flick with UNDER SIEGE 2 - called MAXIMUM ALERT 2 in Spain and RED ALERT 2 in Germany - which is a worthy addition since it performed way below the first part.
WE LOVE A GIRL OUT OF UNIFORM : ERIKA ELENIAK IN UNDER SIEGE !
