Since we still have one more day to do a quick post to wrap up SPIDER - MAN MONTH I thought I could do the spotlight on everyone's favourite cat burglar ( at least in the Marvel Comics universe ) Felicia Hardy a.k.a. the Black Cat that I wanted to do for Valentine's Day and then decided to postpone in favour of two posts about the much underrated Silver Sable.
Although to tell the truth SPIDER - MAN MONTH has been going on for more than a month because even if you do not count the second part of my latest tribute to Sal Buscema's 8 year run on SPECTACULAR SPIDER - MAN from the 27th of January ( and you totally could because there IS all new original art in that post and only the bonus section is old - well, with a few new additions ) there still is my first post about Erik Larsen's run on AMAZING SPIDER - MAN and SPIDER - MAN, specifically the RETURN OF THE SINISTER SIX and REVENGE OF THE SINISTER SIX stories from the 30th of January - even if it got an age restriction by blogger for the time being ( a situation which I hope I can remedy before finishing the post ).
So you could say that SPIDER - MAN MONTH started early. On the other hand as longtime followers of the blog know I don't get to post every day - and even less frequent since coming to Spain - so with nine posts ( and a possible second part to this very post coming up ) ten posts don't seem too many for an entire special month. By the way, since this month has all been about Marvel Comics next month DC Comics will get their turn.
I already have prepared all the material for a JUSTICE LEAGUE AMERICA / INTERNATIONAL BY KEVIN MAGUIRE post but I don't know if I have enough material for a full blown JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA MONTH or if I will just throw in some posts about various members of the Justice League of America or if I will just do a Best Of Justice League Of America month.
We will see.
Coming back to the Black Cat, only blog readers of the first hour may remember this but back in 2007 - which is already 18 years ago my how time flies when you are exiled and have dozens of posts to finish - Felicia Hardy was the winner of my COMICBABE ENTRIES for Sultry Spiderbabes with Mary Jane in the second position while Silver Sable made 3rd place.
As I have mentioned in various posts if I would do a newer Spiderbabe countdown these positions might change with Silver Sable possibly taking the number one spot. But despite that I think this is still my trifecta of ultimate Spider - Man sexbombs : Silver Sable, Mary Jane and Black Cat.
Speaking about the latter, this being a spotlight post for her one might get the impression that I would go over her long and illustrious career as a villain / reluctant crime fighter but as blog regulars know I don't like to repeat myself and I already took an extensive look at Felicia in the final Spiderbabe post where I even covered ( only figuratively because who in his right mind would want to cover up her banging pornstar body ? ) the post IDENTITY CRISIS shift in THE EVIL THAT MEN DO miniseries written by Kevin Smith with art by Terry Dodson when sexually assaulting women became the vogue backstory in comicbooks or her awful pirate costume.
So I think I already covered everything I have to say about the Black Cat.
As for the current version of her I don't even know if she is still written as being a lesbian ( I know that " officially " her sexual orientation was changed to bi - sexual but we all know that's just to appease the masses since Disney execs really wants to make all the female characters in the Marvel universe lesbian, I mean have you seen any of Marvel's female characters who have " come out " as being bi - sexual have any sexual encounters with men afterwards ? ) if she still is part of Peter Parker's extended supporting cast, still a good girl or a villain, heck I don't even know if she is still alive. Because for the most part I do not care about Disney's current propaganda comics and I think my life is better for it.
From time to time I find myself wondering about certain characters but then I find a video about what's going on in comics with the characters I used to know and it just reinforces my resolution to stay the hell away from current Marvel Comics. Instead I go back to the old school comics where you can still recognize characters since they are written how they ought to be since there is still enough material to keep me interested.
Anyway, coming back to the Black Cat, while compiling the material for this post I thought about including some original art from the comics but with Mark Bagley for instance there are enough pages for a THE BLACK CAT BY MARK BAGLEY spotlight and the other pages are not so important that it would make sense to post them outside of an artist spotlight. So instead I have selected MY favourite 23 Black Cat art pieces - at least at this moment - and I hope I can get them through blogger's NSFW control.
