And while a lot of people may not think that he has had an impact on their life there probably would not have been any movies with Iron Man or Tony Stark without him. Because what you see in any of the Marvel movies from the first Iron Man to Avengers : Endgame that´s David Micheline / Bob Layton / John Romita Jr Iron Man. But we will come back to that in a bit.
There are of course a plethora of other comicbooks David Micheline has written over the decades most notably the Aquaman run in Adventure Comics with art by Jim Aparo in which Black Manta killed off Aquaman´s infant son ( one of the watershed moments in comic history ), Avengers from 1978 to 1982 with George Perez and John Byrne and Amazing Spider - Man from 1987 to 1994 with Todd McFarlane, Erik Larsen and Mark Bagley.
Speaking about Todd McFarlane, those who read my two posts about Todd McFarlane´s run on The Incredible Hulk with Peter David might remember that I promised my next Todd McFarlane post will be about his rendition of the webslinger and it will probably be part of the David Micheline run.
I don´t have the time to list all of the series he worked on but I he wrote some VALIANT books and Action Comics for 3 years so he will pop up in future posts about VALIANT and John Byrne´s SUPERMAN relaunch. David Micheline´s track record with characters is also very impressive as he co - created Claw the Unconquered, The Star Hunters, Venom ( another movie you can thank him for ), Carnage, Ant - Man Scott Lang ( ditto ), the Taskmaster, the Ghost ( ditto ), Bethany Cabe and Jim Rhodes ( ditto ).
And while I haven´t done yet any posts expressively for David Micheline he was part of the team - together with Bob Layton and John Romita Jr. - that brought Iron Man back from possible cancellation and I have written about that run - or better yet runs since they were on and off on that book - ad nauseum starting in 2013 when I pimped the Iron Man by David Micheline, Bob Layton and John Romita Jr Omnibus hardcover that was sold through amazon Germany for a measly 57 EUROS ( I bet everybody who didn´t believe me that it was a bargain price is kicking himself now because the current price is between 115 and 620 bucks ) back then.
I continued the topic of his run on Iron Man in my first real Bob Layton birthday post in 2013 - where I almost forgot his birthday but managed to get a post in under the wire - while the 2014 post concentrated on the return to greatness when I started reading american comics and Bob Layton and David Micheline engaged in the first Armor Wars. The post also included some art pages from issue 232 by the great Barry Windsor Smith.
In 2015 I got on a bit of tangent because I know that money is always tight for comic readers so the post was mainly about which issues of Iron Man have already been reprinted where and in 2016 I decided to take a break from Iron Man and do a spotlight on Bob Layton´s Hercules mini - series .
So as you might have guessed from the title this post is once again all about IRON MAN but since it´s also about David Micheline who was one of the writers - the other being Bob Layton - I am not doing the usual black and white post where I include a lot of original art pages. You have enough of that in the main post about Marv Wolfman´s NEW TEEN TITANS so here are a few pages where you can enjoy David´s wonderful writing abilities.
Usually I try to switch things up with a comicbook related birthday, then one about a cult siren and then something else but - as longtime readers know - things don´t always work out that way. One day when I can find them on amazon I´m even going to watch the first season of Veronica Mars to find out how it all started.
One of these days I´ll have to get the first season of Veronica Mars to find out how it all started since I came in at the tailend of that season - as usual. Besides Veronica Mars Charisma Carpenter was also in episode 11 of season 5 of Burn Notice where she showed she still can deliver the goods.
In Germany only the first three seasons of Burn Notice have come out on DVD and right now I´m halfway through season 2. I´m not sure if I should wait any longer to see if they will do the rest someday or just get them through imports. Now that I´m invested I want to know how it plays out and there is even a spin off with Bruce Campbell´s character Sam. In any case Charisma´s funbags alone are worth the price of admission . Daimn!

Instead of the usual cartoon we have a different kind of animation Today but I think my readers will appreciate it nevertheless. So how come I have never heard of DOCTOR PUPPET ? This is the most brilliant Doctor Who related thing and the perfect way to introduce kids to the glory of Who. Come on BBC, you need to get behind this and pimp the heck out of it.
