We're halfway to Jim Aparo's Artist Edition !

Mea culpa. Regular blog visitors may recall that I did a post with the full original artwork for issue 141 of THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD by Jim Aparo instead of writing about the content of the new Artist's Edition about Jim Aparo that - fingers crossed - is going to be released at the end of this month. And that I promised to do the post about the Artist's Edition soon.

Well, as it turns out " soon " meant five months but we're finally doing it.

Not that I haven't been busy in the meantime with three posts in tribute to Peter David and Dale Keown's run on THE INCREDIBLE HULK, four posts on Steve Mannion , a spotlight on Dale Eaglesham's JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA run which lead to an Alex Ross tribute post which in turn led to an ASTRO CITY post and a post on urban legends , followed by another post with the complete original artwork of issue 275 of CAPTAIN AMERICA by J. M. DeMatteis and Mike Zeck for the 4th of July followed by a post on Dan Jurgen's run on the Superman titles, a post on Keith Giffen's run on THE LEGION OF SUPER - HEROES , two posts about a plethora of asian sexbombs I found while trying to finish up another post, one completely unexpected post on ONE PIECE and three posts on Marvel Comic's CONAN THE BARBARIAN - two on John Buscema and Ernie Chan's run and one on Barry Windsor Smith's start of the series - on which I have been working on and off. So yes, there is a reason why this post was delayed so long.

But now we're finally doing it and it's about time because as I wrote in my post on THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD 141 this is supposed to whet your appetite for the Artist Edition and we are already at the middle of the month when it's supposed to come out. And this should be a fairly quick post : just list the contents of the book, include some original artwork and finish up with my usual mix of pop culture relevant facts and funny personal anecdotes of my time as a comicbook reader back in the days when I still had a comic book collection worthy of being called such.

Easy, peasy, lemon squeezie. Right ? Wrong. For one, as longtime fans of the blog already know I have written a plethora of posts on Jim Aparo and THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD . So I don't know if I have any personal stories left to tell. And second, BECAUSE I have already written so many posts I may have posted some of the art included in the Artist Edition before. Now I went through all of my old posts to see what is redundant but because this post is supposed to highlight Jim Aparo's terrific art I have chosen the best pieces of art even if I have posted them before. Of course there will be a lot of new stuff and but are were some instances where I could not find the original art or the coloured versions. Sorry.

As for the contents of the Artist Edition, I'm going to list them

better late than never
