Odds and ends or Let´s finish this post !

This is the last spin off post - although it will be the second one on the blog - and the reason why I am finishing it last is that unlike the other spin off posts where I had some common element ( like french stuff and sci fi or bikini babes and Baywatch ) here are all the thing that either didn´t fall into that category or where I didn´t want to put birthdays from one day into two different posts. So this post will be a bit all over the place and also contain a bit more comic book related stuff then the other two.

With that said we get right to it on March the 21st and Mark Waid who turned 57. Now I have to say that I was a bit reluctant to include him because of his recent behavior which is not only offensive to comic book fans but also destructive to the comic book industry as a whole. But in the past I have included a lot of comic book creators where I enjoyed their artistic work while I definitely did not enjoy their personal attitude.

One of the main reasons for including Mark Waid was that he did a run on the second volume of THE FLASH which I did enjoy very much. And while he didn´t start the run - that was William Messner Loebs who is one of the many writers who is all but forgotten by today´s comic book readers - he did flesh out the character of Wally West ( who is still my favorite Flash ) quite a bit. Especially in the stories Born To Run and The Return Of Barry Allen the second of which was basically the blueprint for Eobard Thawne a.k.a. Professor Zoom a.k.a. The Reverse Flash in the CW FLASH tv show.

The second reason why I am including Mark Waid in this post is that I have a lot of links for new readers thanks to my almost weekly FLASH FRIDAY series that is on hiatus right now. I still have posts planned for the two storylines I mentioned in the paragraph above but I don´t know when I can get to it so all my new readers - as well as those who might have missed them - can check out the issues I posted from Mark Waid´s run on THE FLASH which are issue 113 , issue 114 , issue 115 , issue 116 , issue 117 , issue 118 , issue 119 , issue 120 , issue 121 , issue 122 , issue 123 , issue 124 , issue 125 , issue 126 , issue 127 , issue 128 and issue 129 . Whew !

I also did a special post for the late Mike Wieringo who was the penciler for a fair share of issues as well as providing covers for a lot more of them so he had a big impact on the look of the series for a long period of time.

Speaking of favorite artists who have passed away and who worked on THE FLASH Paul Ryan did a lot of the issues above and a few more that I posted but I am not going to put all of them in this post especially since he also worked on other titles that I featured like AVENGERS or AVENGERS WEST COAST. Another series was THE FANTASTIC FOUR and I am still working on bringing my readers the new FANTASTIC FOUR FRIDAY WITH PAUL RYAN feature. At the moment I have more than enough original art assembled but I still have to go through it and - what is the biggest work - find all the corresponding color pages. In the meantime you might want to read my special Paul Ryan spotlight to find more about this great artist.

I also want to include another of my rare amazon.de bargain book picks ( which will probably already be gone by the time I finish this post ) which is the hardcover of DAREDEVIL Volume 7 which contains issues 31 to 36 of Mark Waid´s run with Chris Samnee. For a measly 7 EURO. And while you might not think that picking up the seventh hardcover of any ongoing series is a good idea I totally recommend this. Yes, this is the final part before they restarted with a new number one and you might want to read the previous six books before this ( which you should do anyway ) but this is a mostly self contained story, the writing by Mark Waid is top notch as it is during the whole series, Chris Samnee may not be suited for every series but here he delivers some of his best art and if you are a fan of Marvel´s monster characters ( like me ) you can look forward to the entire Legion of Monsters : the Zombie, the Living Mummy, Satana, the monster of Frankenstein and Jack Russell a.k.a. the freaking Werewolf By Night.

Another reason is that you might be interested in one of the DAREDEVIL BY MARK & CHRIS SAMNEE omnibus and this is an inexpensive way to sample it. Longtime readers might remember that Mark Waid´s DAREDEVIL was one of the last two monthly titles I read from Marvel ( the other one was Mike Allred´s SILVER SURFER ) and I wrote a bit about it in this post .

Now you might expect a video about Mark Waid´s run on THE FLASH but I already posted it on a previous FLASH FRIDAY and I didn´t find good videos for his great work on DAREDEVIL or CAPTAIN AMERICA. The last of which almost was my second amazon pick but according to the reviews the binding on the CAPTAIN AMERICA BY MARK WAID omnibus is not very good. I also covered Mark Waid´s CAPTAIN AMERICA in these two posts .

Speaking of series by Mark Waid I HAVE covered in previous posts I almost forgot THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD with George Perez where I wrote about issue 1 , issue 2 , issue 3 , issue 4 , issue 5 , issue 6 , issue 7 , issue 8 , issue 9 and issue 10 so far. I also plan on doing posts for issues 11 and 12 but since the art was done by Jerry Ordway and not by the great George Perez I might save them for another Jerry Ordway spotlight birthday post.

Another amazon bargain book pick I did not include are IRREDEEMABLE and INCORRUPTIBLE but that´s only because I have not read either of the series. There are always at least four of the trades in the bargain book section at any given time. In any case I still wanted to include a video for Mark Waid and in this case I picked some of his more recent comic work.

Al - so on March the 21st we had the anniversary of Al Williamson who was one of famous artists of EC Comics. He worked mostly on their science fiction titles and some of the older readers may remember him from his work on Marvel´s STAR WARS title from the 80s especially the adaption of RETURN OF THE JEDI. He also did the adaption of Ridley Scott´s BLADE RUNNER which also featured Harrison Ford. Being such a huge fan of the classic EC Comics it is kind of strange that so far I have not done a solo post for Al Williamson but on the other side I have extensively covered his contribution to the DAREDEVIL run by Ann Nocenti and John Romita Jr. .

We skip a few days to March the 24th when paisano Pascual Ferry turned 58. He is one of the artists I look for when doing my online comic shopping but he always had an unfortunate hand at electing books and that has not changed. So even if I had the time I don´t think that I would do a new post on him unless I found a maountain of original art. I mean I already did an extensive spotlight post in 2011 which included a recommendation for Andy Diggle´s ( any connection to ARROW´s John Diggle ? ) excellent ADAM STRANGE series Planet Heist as well as my thoughts about two things that really didn´t work on his run on THOR. My second post on Pascual Ferry was in 2017 and besides his best covers it features sex bomb Kelly Le Brock who shares the same birthday ( she turned 59 ) and starred in the hit comedy WEIRD SCIENCE which was also the title of one of the classic EC Comics science fiction anthologies Al Williamson worked on.

We keep the latino heat burning ( you will see further down why I made that reference ) on March the 26th which was the 71st birthday of Jose Luis Garcia Lopez. I have been a fan of his work forever and a day and I finally managed to do a post for him last year . Unlike with Pascual Ferry I still have more than enough material for a few posts so don´t be surprised to see a new one pop up in the next weeks. I may have mentioned that I was back in Spain just this month and because of my health issues I can´t travel with a lot of luggage. So I could only bring two books : one was a birthday present for my brother, a really thick omnibus which will be the topic of one of my next posts and the other was an album sized magazine with a lot of his gorgeous work ( plus original John Buscema NAMOR art ).

The second anniversary from March the 26th is the great late Leonard Nimoy and while I haven´t read a lot of STAR TREK comics I did a special comic book cover tribute post for Spock in 2017 . Normally I would have put this in the aforementioned french stuff and sci fi spin off post but I didn´t want to put birthdays from one day into separate posts and it also feels a bit out of place with all the hot STAR TREK sexbombs like Marina Sirtis, Jeri Ryan and Jolene Blalock that are featured there at length.

I usually try to keep things well balanced between comic book stuff, pop culture tidbits and ultimate sexbombs but as you can see we had a lot of comic book related birthdays up until now. That´s because on the other side I do not want to make things more confusing than necessary and try to keep the birthdays of the same day in one post. If possible. Anyway, with that said we come to the part most of my readers are waiting for because on March the 27th we have one of these ultimate sexbombs. It´s a literal cult siren in every sense of the word as Mariah Carey a.k.a. the original Screaming Mimi - because you know she´s not a moaner in the bedroom, she´s a screamer - the nubian sex goddess with the playmate porn body of sound turned 49. At least if my online sources are correct.

Because some online pages say she was born 1969 while others say it was 1970. I´m going with 1970 because that was the date that was official when I wrote my first Mariah Carey posts back on the old boob blog.

Another thing that´s hard to get official accuracy on is Mariah Carey´s breastsize. I googled it Today but the " official " size is 38D which is totally bogus. I mean around the time of the Annual Golden Globe Awards in 2010 her breastsize was officially confirmed as 38DD and by 2012 when she did the Christmas video with Justin Bieber her jingle bells had grown another few sizes bigger so they must have been 40DD or at least 39DD. So maybe I am biased but these gigantic gazongas do not look like 38Ds to me, sorry.

Now aside the ever changing unrealistic breastsize, as readers of this blog know I have been a big fan of the cult siren - in every sense of the word - since forever and a day and I bet there was a whole plethora that was relieved when I made the decision to split my blog into a comic book blog and a boob blog because they weren´t inundated by dozens of Mariah Carey posts anymore suffering all those hot pictures of the sex symbol.

Of course this meant I was given free reign to my obsession with Mariah Carey and to give you an idea : on the boob blog there where so many Mariah Carey posts that I had to create one big Über - post with links to all the other posts so I could put it in the links. Mariah Carey was the first cult sexbomb I did this for even before Halle Berry and Janet Jackson.

So it´s even more incredible that I still haven´t done a solo post for the number three of my all time favorite sexual fantasies and only included her in my second alternates post of the Casting the Justice League movie series although I am not sure which role I would give her. In any case I would go so far as to create a completely new character just to have the super stacked songstress giant - sized 39EE jingle bells in my JLA movie.

Speaking of blow up sex dolls whose milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard, while looking for new Mariah Carey videos I chanced upon one that features some massitas in tiny bikinis shaking their huge melons which got me thinking that it´s about time Mariah Carey did one of those again.

With her porn star body she was just made for this kind of music videos.

Even adult comic book artist Kevin J. Taylor ( best known for his THE GIRL series ) modeled the star of many of his stories, oral sex addict Jill a.k.a. the Seventh Blowjob Boobwonder Of The World a.k.a. the Dicktaming Deepthroat Diva after Mariah. And who am I to argue with such a master ?

Also it wouldn´t be the first time Mariah Carey has shown off her two huge talents in a bikini or swimsuit. She really got nothing to hide and with her current overdeveloped chest we can hope the director puts Mariah´s breast side into a micro bikini so we can get some nipple slips.

Which is the only downside of this video. Not that there is a nipple slip but that it was blurred. So far I haven´t found an uncensored version but apart from that the video is top notch. It shows how easy it can be to make a good music video and while the woman in the white bikini from the preview picture is not Mariah Carey she will most definitely make you cream your pants. The singer in the video is one lucky guy because he not only gets his hands all over the body of this exotic dancer who works at the New Yorker stripclub Starlets you know that he spent the next weeks releasing his accumulated sexual energy relentlessly f - ing her brains out.

One of the perks of doing these short birthday inserts is they remind me of all the things I put on the back burner because of all that dull life stuff. It´s my chance to catch up on everything I have missed since my last post.

Apropos, Michael York who celebrates his 77th birthday did the voices of Ares in Justice League Unlimited and Count Vertigo in Batman : The Animated Series. He also was in the movie Der Joker with Peter Maffay and Tahnee Welch which has nothing to do with the Batman´s archvillain. Michael also appeared in Tek War : Tek Lab, Sliders, Babylon 5 and the Three Musketeer movies with Tahnee Welch´s Mom, cult siren Raquel.

But most importantly Michael York also appeared in one of my favorite science fiction movies Logan´s Run which readers might have guessed from the various posts I have written about it : a pop culture icon post that covers the movie as well as the various adaptions as a tv series and in comics and speaking of comics I also posted the complete movie adaption by Marvel ( issue 1 / issue 2 / issue 3 / issue 4 / issue 5 / issue 6 / issue 7 ) and for any further information you might need just consult this website .

On March the 30th Greg Capullo turned 57 and I still haven´t gotten around to do a proper post for him. I did however write a spotlight post on the very underrated Fabian Nicieza with a lot of art from Greg´s issues of X - FORCE and QUASAR. I have almost enough material for a post on Greg Capullo´s issues of SPAWN and I am still hoping to do a DEATH IN COMICS : THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION AND DEATH OF QUASAR about one of my favorite storylines by the great late Mark Gruenwald during Greg Capullo´s tenure on the book. Also any chance to post more pictures of mutated massita Boom Boom, Marvel´s version of Power Girl is always appreciated.

Speaking of blow up sex doll with a big rack, retired 32E porn superstar Jenna Presley who performed in over 275 x - rated films celebrated her 32nd birthday on April the 1st and the fact that she is retired is sadly no April Fool prank. Going over her biography I found out that her real name is Brittini Ruiz so we might actually be related. I would still do her, I mean who wouldn´t love to be a kissing ( or f - word - ing ) cousin with Jenna ?

The buxom beauty started her career in the adult entertainment industry as a topless dancer in Mexico at the age of 15 after getting drunk for the first time. Ah, the many wonders of alcohol, once again the right dosage of beverage has changed the course of history for the better. Jenna is one of the few adult movie stars who always elevates any movie she´s in and her christian beliefs have never stopped her from going all the way in front of the camera although it also might have been a factor for leaving the porn business. As were her bouts with anorexia, drugs and several suicide attempt. I hope it all works out in the end. Until then we have her movies and while I haven´t seen all of them from the ones I did her best ones are the Doctor Adventures series. I could use a doctor like that.

Now with the celebrity birthdays it is always the question if I should include somebody who has already been in a previous post - especially when the posts get as long as this one - but I think in the case of Jenna Presley it is warranted because I can now confirm that she not only left the porn industry but she married and became a preacher. She seems quite happy with herself and looks really great - as you can see in the video below - and if you still believe I am making this whole stuff up you can go on YouTube where you can find a lot of interviews with Jenna.

Something I don´t get to write about as much as I would like is wrestling and I could do an entire blog on that alone. But this is still a blog about comic books so the fun section is the only part where I can mention Diamond Dallas Page who turned 53 on April the 5th. I did a special  spin - off post for him last year although the biggest part of that is about his ex - wife wrestling 36D sexbomb Kimberly Page and the Nitro Girls. Since then I came across RING THE DAMN BELL where you can go to find out Whatever Happened to Kimberly Page ?  and Whatever Happened to the Nitro Girls ?

There are a few videos with complete big wrestling events I found but I wanted to include one from the time when Diamond Dallas Page - and Kimberly - were at the top of their game. Man, this really was the high water mark for the wrestling industry. Everything that came after that - with the exclusion of the knockouts over at TNA Wrestling - was downhill.

Now this was waaay back ( god, I´m dating myself here ) when Eric Bischoff was the boss of the WCW the competition to Vince McMahon´s WWE. They were competing on all levels and to get more viewers Eric Bischoff came up with the idea of the Nitro Girls a dancing group of hot girls ( like on most spanish tv shows I know there are dancers ) some of them even became wrestlers afterwards. It should be no surprise that my favorite was asian dancer Chae An who was notorious for her nippleslips.

At least on german tv, I don´t know if it was scrambled in Amerika.

I could not find a video with one of Chae´s nippleslips but here is a Nitro Girls segment from YouTube with my future wife shaking her moneymakers.

Speaking of big breasts in general and shaking your moneymakers, I don´t want to imply that somebody like the wardrobe malfunction prone Mariah Carey with her big bingo bongos that are already constantly popping out of her clothes whenever she takes a deep breath needs something like the upbra but I am sure that it also would not hurt to wear one in her next music video ( especially if it is a steamy bikini video like the one I posted earlier - hint, hint ) it would not exactly hurt her sales. And if she even did a review video like the one below ( which is a constant request by most of the readers of this blog ) she would break the internet.

It´s back to comic books and the beginning of the post where I mentioned Mark Waid´s DAREDEVIL run and the story that had the Legion of Monsters as guest stars which includes the Frankenstein Monster. Marvel Comics did a series on him - or it ? - way back when the Williams Verlag published the Marvel Comics in Germany but I must confess that I never read much of it.

On one side I was more interested in DIE SPINNE, DIE FANTASTISCHEN VIER or DIE RUHMREICHEN RÄCHER and while I could manage to smuggle these into my room past the watchful eyes of my parents I don´t think they would have been as lenient with Dracula or the Frankenstein Monster.

On the other side distribution was spotty at best and because it was cheaper we mostly had to rely on the Sammelbände where those issues rarely appeared. In any case, the series has been reprinted recently and the first paperback pops up from time to time in amazon´s bargain book section but so far not at a price that makes it a real bargain. It still is one of Marvel Comic´s most popular monster books so it should be no surprise that the first issue was covered by the famous POWER RECORDS company.

The post started with a DC Comics series so it is only fitting that the animated video with which it ends is also from that side of the street.

WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STARBOY or THE GRAVITY OF BEING A HERO

I didn´t expect much of The Justice League VS The Fatal Five - especially since I knew going in that Superman would not a part of the history of the Legion of Super - Heroes but I was pleasantly surprised how good it was despite that. I thought this was another movie of the New52 - ized DC Universe that have come out lately and which constantly managed to ruin the best stories like The Death of Superman or Reign of the Supermen but apparently this is part of the animated DC universe that incorporates such great shows like Batman Animated, Superman Animated, The Justice League, Justice League Unlimited and even Batman Beyond. Bruce Timm is once again at the helm of this and unlike in Gods and Monsters he is back to his old form. I don´t want to spoil too much but one of the things that blew me away was how well written Thomas Kallor a.k.a. Starboy was.

Longtime readers may remember him from Geoff Johns brilliant JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA story Thy Kingdom Come where he was an integral part of the plot and they even incorporated his mental health issues.

Although in the original story it was a result of the time travel. I also found the way how Bruce incorporated Jessica Cruz very interesting. In the JUSTICE LEAGUE comics she never was a character I cared much about because you were just constantly hit over the head with the fact that she suffers from ptsd. Not that I think that is a subject which you should not cover in comics but back when I started reading comic books that would not have been the first thing you learn about her character. When there were real writers in comics they would make a character interesting and engaging before they revealed something like this and it would have a much bigger impact because it would be a person you care about. But like always Bruce Timm has managed to keep what makes her interesting and throw away anything that might not be necessary for the story. As I said I don´t want to spoil too much about the movie but another reason why it is so fantastic is that Bruce Timm really gets what makes a real hero. The guys who make the DC movies really need to start taking notes from him.
