I really thought I could continue this series sooner but with all the stuff going on now it´s been a year since my first Matt Wagner quarantine post . So I think it´s about time to put more of his gorgeous art on the blog.
In my first post I collected all my favorite pieces but since I like to switch things up this will be an all DC Comics post with the usual suspects and personal favorites. And if you like his art check out his facebook page.
We start the DC Comics bonus section with another callback to the start of my comicbook reading years in Germany. The earliest Superman stories I read were through the translation by Ehapa Verlag which published the DC Comics in regular issues like the Superman / Batman comics, special issues like the Batman Sonderheft ( which among other Batman stories included Batman And The Outsiders ), pocket books and magazine - sized albums.
Because the first albums were published for the Superman line they were called Superband and Ehapa kept the name for the Batman albums. I guess Batman Superband sounded better than Batman Batband. Anyway, later there were also the Superman Album and the Superman Jubiläumsband one shot to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Superman. Good memories.
For me there has been only one actress who believably portrayed Wonder Woman. I thought about adding a video from one of Arnold´s Miss Fitness competitions hosted by Lynda Carter where she is wearing a dress with an incredible cleavage. But it is too similar to the bikini competition we have further down the line so I guess I will save it for Lynda´s next birthday.
From the best Wonder Woman tv show ( there is a reason why there has been no Wonder Woman tv show since and that the first super heroine from DC Comics who got her own tv show was Supergirl ) we come to the best Batman tv show. Yes, I said it, this is not only the best animated Batman tv show but the best Batman tv show period. I know that the campy Batman tv show with Adam West has a lot of fans - and who can deny Yvonne Craig´s sex appeal that forced DC Comics to introduce Batgirl in the comicbooks ? - but for me this is the best adaption of the Batman.
I am trying to include at least one video that is longer since the Covid 19 thing started for those who might be reading this during quarantine.
Coming back to Lynda Carter, in this trailer they substituted Gal Gadot´s scenes with Xena instead of the Wonder Woman tv series because that is basically where they took the inspiration for the Wonder Woman costume from. Speaking of Wonder Woman movies, I still haven´t seen Wonder Woman 1984 but so far all the critiques have been negative. Which would discourage me from watching the movie if it wasn´t for the fact that a lot of movies I love are absolutely hated by movie goers and critics alike. Also since I like to make up my own opinion I will probably watch it anyway.
The Nostalgia Critic has made an entire video about the reasons why the opinions of film critics and movie goers can differ but one important point he left out is that unlike the general audience movie critics don´t have to pay for their movie tickets. Unless they are bloggers who do this on a non profit basis. But all other critics don´t have to pay to see a movie so it is a different experience for them than for somebody who has to pay for it.
Because you go into it with a different mindset when you pay 10 or 20 bucks ( depending on how much you pay for foods and drinks ). You expect to get an entertainment value that justifies the price while a critic just may be satisfied with not having to sit through another boring movie.
Closing out the DC Comics section is another top 5 countdown, this time with the weirdest DC villains. Not that there´s a shortage of those guys.
In the last few posts I have only sporadically included some celebrity birthdays - at best - and since I don´t think that will change in the next few weeks I am including a video with mega MILF Marlène Mourreau in advance. The blonde bra buster who obviously didn´t choose her stage name at random celebrates her 52nd birthday on the 19th of this month.

Coming back to the breast episode of El Semaforo this dress covers up more although because the fabric is very thin it doesn´t leave anything to the imagination as you can clearly see every inch of her spectacular body and her hard nipples are poking through. Carl had just finished Predator and besides being an incredible actor he was totally jacked. He had bigger muscles than a comicbook superhero and it´s a shame that they never made a Luke Cage movie with him because he would have crushed it. In any case, even if he never reached the movie super star status he deserved you definitely need to check out this film.

In all the videos about Stan Lee´s movie cameos they only show his appearances in the Marvel movies - and sometimes Mallrats - but they always ignore Ambulance. And Stan Lee did not have a cameo in that movie, he played Eric Robert´s boss and had a lot of dialogue. On top of that Eric Roberts plays a comic artist in the film and the scenes where he is at work were filmed at Marvel Comics and you can see a lot of artwork with Marvel characters everywhere. So I have no idea why this movie never gets mentioned when they talk about Stan Lee´s cinematic work.

I wasn´t quite sure if I should include this video because while the original Captain Marvel is nowadays mostly associated with the Justice Society of America or the Justice League of America he wasn´t a member of either team at first. In fact, he wasn´t even a DC character and was published by Fawcett Comics where he was so successful that he outsold Superman.
Well, you can read all about how DC Comics sued Fawcett Comics and later bought their comicbook characters in a plethora of videos so I won´t go into detail about that ( you can click here for a closer look at Captain Marvel´s history at DC Comics, here for a look at Peter Krause´s terrific art for Jerry Ordway´s fantastic THE POWER OF SHAZAM series and here for my reasons why the Captain Marvel / SHAZAM movie doesn´t work ).
In any case, in the end I decided to include the video because you don´t find that many videos with Captain Marvel on YouTube. There was a tv show in the 70s but there are only videos with the intro on YouTube.
To my knowledge there has never been a Justice Society of America cartoon and the closest we have come to a tv series have been Legends of Tomorrow and Stargirl . But there have been a few Justice League of America cartoons. Seeing as most clips from Bruce Timm´s Justice League get deleted and Justice League Action is a joke - and not in a good way - here is an episode from the very first Justice League of America cartoon.
We are continuing our our series on german cult tv shows with episode 8 of the second season of Derrick called Signs Of Violence guest starring none other than austrian 80s b - movie queen Sybil Danning who upgraded one of the earliest Andy Sidaris movies - Malibu Express - with her 36C - 24 - 36 measurements ( click here for Sybil Danning´s full cult siren entry ).
