Since I couldn't fit all the asian sexbombs I would've liked in Yesterday's spotlight post you might think I would continue with the subject Today.
But as longtime followers of the blog know I like to switch things up from time to time and while writing Yesterday's post I came across my CONAN folder which had way too many original art for my taste so I decided to put some of them in a post to share them with all my loyal oyeescuchas.
Now regular blog visitors know that this is not my first post that pays homage to either the CONAN THE BARBARIAN series written by Roy " The Boy " Thomas nor my favourite inker on the book Ernie Chan. In fact I just did three new posts for Ernie Chan this year, two for his forgotten contributions to the BATMAN titles - with the first one focusing on his work on BATMAN while the second one incorporated mainly material from DETECTIVE COMICS - and one with his covers for JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA for JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA MONTH here on the blog.
As frequent post readers are probably already sick of hearing Ernie Chan is one of my favourite inkers as he not only embellished the late John Buscema on my favourite period of CONAN THE BARBARIAN ( of which he also pencilled quite a few issues ) but also John's brother Sal Buscema on THE INCREDIBLE HULK and I just last year managed to get a pristine copy of volume 13 of the MARVEL MASTERWORKS that collects all those issues.
Maybe it's because it's the unlucky number 13 or because these are the best of the best of Hulk stories but it was not easy to get. I don't know about you but there are certain issues I will buy again and again if they are re - released in a nice edition and Sal Buscema and Ernie Chan's run on INCREDIBLE HULK ( which I first read as back up stories in the Condor Verlag's german Spider - Man comics DIE SPINNE ) definitely fits the bill.
Coming back to CONAN THE BARBARIAN I did a post with the complete original art for issue 6 by Barry Windsor Smith and this sword and sorcery themed spotlight post for Gil Kane features various covers for the book.
With the obligatory links to previous posts out of the way it's time to talk about the contents of this post. Which focuses on peak Marvel Comics CONAN goodness namely the period when Conan becomes involved with Belit and Zula and the whole Amra business. There may be a page I have featured before so I hope I may be forgiven for that by my loyal readers and also for including more than the usual 23 pictures per post. But I just had to include a few more pages with Red Sonja - who for me has one of the breast costumes in comicbook history and at the same time one of the worst origin stories - and we are starting off with a bang as the ex meets the missus on the final page of CONAN THE BARBARIAN issue 66.
