Once again the bonus section in my latest Joe Staton post has become too long to load properly so I am delving into the endless vault of material I wanted to post last year but didn´t get around to do for various reasons.
Thankfully there is no shortage of that so it only was a matter of choosing something that was quick to post. But as always things were not as easy and in fact this very post was supposed about something else entirely.
Because my first idea was to continue the pulp novel cover series. In April last year I did a post on pulp novel covers I found and since I always like to do special posts it turned into a spotlight post for artist Robert McGinnis .
The general idea was to continue this series since I found a truckload of these covers and I had already pre - sorted them for future posts. But then I did what you should never do before starting a post : go on the internet to see if I could find some of the covers in a better quality.
Which per se was not a bad idea. The only problem was that I found too many new and interesting covers and sorting through them all would take me months. As it so happens I found even more covers of mexican comics.
Now I like to think that my blog offers the best comic art from around the world but so far there has not been a lot of mexican comicbook art. Not because it´s not good but because I didn´t have enough for a full post.
So now I had a huge pile of mexican comicbook art and I was all fired up to do a post with more cowgirls and native american women than you can shake a tomahawk at when I came across some covers from the mexican funny comicbook for adults EL MIL CHISTES ( translated THE 1,000 JOKES ).
Which not only featured the kind of women I like in my comicbook reading but the art also looked hauntingly similar to some of the drawings of my late brother. It was like getting a peek into an alternate universe where he was a successful artist who did a lot of covers for this adult magazine.
Of course I was intrigued and after spending almost a day on facebook on the EL MIL CHISTES page I had more than enough covers for a full post.
And since it has been a very long time since I had the chance to post something about my top comicbook sexual phantasie, Power Girl I decided to do a special post with covers that feature women who look like her.
And that´s the post that almost made it onto the blog. But only almost.
Because - once again - I made the mistake of going on the internet to check out the EL MIL CHISTES blog which not only had a few of the covers I was missing but also a plethora of interior pages. You know where this is heading, right ? There is another pile of interior art I have to sift through before I can do the post. Sometimes I really hate being a perfectionist.
Anyway, since it will take me at least a few days until I have everything sorted out I decided to start from scratch and do a post about the DC Comics horror anthologies of my youth. My last post on that subject was also in April last year and because I did a spotlight on artist Frank Robbins I had to take a lot of the material out again. Some of which is finally seeing the light of day in this post. So you see, it all turns out okay in the end.

It´s back to comics from Victor Ros to Alex Ross who celebrated his 51st birthday on January the 22nd. For the longest time I could only include some scattered Alex Ross artwork here and there but I finally got to do a spotlight post for him in 2018 . Last year I didn´t make one because a. ) lack of time and b. ) lack of good material. I probably could have made one if I did one that was mainly made out of his covers for Geoff John´s run on Justice Society of America ( we will talk more about this in a moment ) or his covers for Astro City but at the moment I don´t want to use up all my good stuff from this great series since I might need it for future posts.
Sexorcist Linda Blair celebrated her 62nd birthday and she got her own cult siren spin - off post in 2019 which also includes a celebrity birthday from January the 20th and another one from January the 22nd. You can find the rest of the birthdays from January the 22nd in the Alex Ross post above and a few more in this post from 2016 about which pages from the original issues of THE INCREDIBLE HULK were left out in the issues of the french GAMMA series I bought when I partook in a student exchange.
Longtime readers know that one of my pet pevees on this blog is celebrating all the brave actresses who turn insufferable dreck into bearable entertainment by taking their clothes off or at least show what their Mama gave them and who don´t get enough recognition for that .

We stay with street gangs in the 90s with comicbook editor and writer Howard Mackie who celebrated his 63rd birthday. He has written a lot of x - titles, including the complete 32 issue run of Mutant X ( initially the series was only to be 12 issues long ), but besides writing one of the few Spider - Man titles in the 90s you could still read - Peter Parker : Spider - Man with art by John Romita Jr. he is still best known for co - creating the new Danny Ketch biker Ghost Rider together with artist Javier Saltares.
Now I haven´t done a post specifically for either of them but I tackled the topic of the 90s rebooted Ghost Rider in my posts about Mark Texeira who practically started his career on that title. I am not going to put up the links for all Mark Texeira posts but here is the latest one that includes links to previous posts where the subject of the Ghost Rider was discussed .
We are turning international on January the 23rd with bulgarian pop folk singer Andrea Teodora who goes by the stage name Andrea or Sahara. Speaking of Russ Meyer movies, one of my favorites is UP ! starring Raven De La Croix. She looks like a real life Wonder Woman and it´s a shame there never was a Wonder Woman movie with Raven in the lead role. Coming back to the topic of Today´s post here is a very long video about the Golden Age of horror comics and how it ended. This would probably be better suited for a post about EC Comics - since they started the whole boom of horror comics and were the ones who suffered the most under the comicbook industry´s self imposed Comics Code Authority censorship - but I don´t know when I can write my next EC Comics post and there are not a lot of videos about DC Comics horror anthologies.
Speaking about horror anthologies since I promised to post as many videos about Germany as I can until I have to leave the country here´s review of Germany´s best horror anthology series Hammerharte Horrrsschocker from Weissblech Comics which I have been pimping forever and a day.
That is one of the parts of my comicbook collection where selling them is not easy especially since I have the entire run. My only hope is that I might get a pretty penny for them since many issues are out of print.
Apropos, Weissblech Comics´ publisher Levin Kurio is one of the few comicbook professionals I contacted about selling original artwork who offered to warehouse some of the original artwork from Kerosin Comics.
Now on one hand I don´t want to take advantage of him on the other hand I probably won´t publish comics anymore ( at least in Germany ) - with the possible exception of Versaute Bettgeschichten 3 if I ever get to finish it - and it would be a real shame to let all the material go to waste.
One of the great things about Germany is its proximity to other countries so you can basically drive to another country with your car. That´s so cool.
Coming back to the topic of horror it has been a while since I posted a video with Resident Evil´s Jill Valentine. Here she is wearing more clothes than in the last one but it looks like she can use the additional support.
There are still a few Halloween themed videos left since I didn´t get to do a Halloween post last year ( which might have been for the best since 2020 was horrific enough ) and here we are celebrating with the Addams family.
Closing things out for Today are Filmation´s original Ghostbusters. You know, the ones from the live action tv show with the talking gorilla.
