The most recent ones are my John Buscema´s Top Ten Avengers Covers posts where I am now down to the top three covers. It seems the further I get to the top the less covers I can include in one post. And in the latest one I only got to do one so maybe I will need two posts for my number three. Nevertheless since I have not gotten any negative comments from readers so far it seems that they rather enjoy or at least appreciate my ramblings. So here are the four posts I have done so far : John Buscema´s Top Ten covers for the german Williams Verlag series Die Ruhmreichen Rächer and John Buscema´s Top Ten Avengers cover from his second run on the book with Roger Stern ( numbers 10 to 6 , number five , number four ). Speaking of that run, I also did a post on Avengers 300 - which only took me three tries - and on one of the best but sadly most underrated stories Assault on Olympus ( which is mainly due to it coming hot on the heels of the brilliant Under Siege Saga, probably the best Avengers story ever written ) with the best original art I could find. To which I could finally do a second part last year. Apart from that I am sure that I will get back to the topic of John Buscema´s Top Ten Avengers covers ( and my usual deviations on it ) although that will happen rather later than sooner.
As for particular storylines, as far as Assault On Olympus is concerned I have already said everything there is to say about that story so I have cleared out the folder where I had the last few pages I haven´t posted.
I still plan to do at least one post about Under Siege but Heavy Metal will become part of my John Buscema Top Ten cover posts. Although I have to re - read them first. I have written these are my most recent ones but I did the last one in 2016 so I first have to see what my last top three top AVENGERS covers are. As for AVENGERS 300 there may still be one more post to do about that issue although it was not written by Roger Stern.
Speaking of which, Roger Stern didn´t finish his run on AVENGERS but I still intend to go through the issues up to issue 300 in chronological order ( at least that´s the plan, but if experience has taught us anything than it´s that here nothing goes according to plan ) especially the last batch where the Avengers team is disbanded and which I like to call AVENGERS : DISASSEMBLED - THE RIGHT WAY. As longtime readers know I have never been a big fan of Brian Michael Bendis continuity - ignoring, half baked but widely celebrated mutilation of Avengers history so I want to highlight this story a little that shows a better way to dissolve the Avengers roster.
Another reason why I want to do a spotlight on these final AVENGERS issues - apart from the fact that we get a lot of Doctor Druid in them who is pivotal in betraying the team - is that this was only the first part of a story. Because writer Walter Simonson ( about whose unsurpassed run on THOR I have written a bit in this recent post ) would later continue this in his run on FANTASTIC FOUR. I still don´t get why Marvel Comics has never done a trade or hardcover that collects the entire story because that would be a hell of a book. First you get those beautiful John Buscema AVENGERS issues and then you continue the fun with Walter Simonson´s brilliant FANTASTIC FOUR issues. But I guess the guys at Disney have an aversion to earn money ( if you can´t tell, that´s what you call sarcasm ).
So there is still enough to talk about Roger Stern on the Avengers, John Buscema on the AVENGERS covers, Walter Simonson on AVENGERS, Walter Simonson on FANTASTIC FOUR, the Avengers on FANTASTIC FOUR, well, the Avengers in general. Continuing with the roll call there are more birthdays from September the 17th in my second post about ASSAULT ON OLYMPUS and from September the 15th until September the 17th in the first part .

Speaking of which, there are still a few anniversaries from September the 17th I have to mention the first one being none other than adult movie star extraordinaire Carolyn Monroe who celebrated her 50th birthday.

I re - read the issue a few times and I always wondered if these more human - and more horny in the case of Flash - heroes didn´t spend the waiting time in a more adult way.
Longtime readers may be already tired of this but it seems that nowadays I can´t write a new post without mentioning hot sexbomb Becky Mullen .

In the old comics artist Wally Wood kept making Power Girl´s breasts bigger and bigger to see how far he could take it. Or at least that is the urban legend. Speaking of Wally Wood´s version of Power Girl, if you want to see for yourself if there´s any truth to the claim that he supersized Power Girl´s boob you can find the original art for the 17 page story from ALL - STAR COMICS 65 at the private collection of James Halperin and you can see them at an even bigger resolution at HERITAGE AUCTIONS . Well, in regards to Power Girl´s breast size ( let´s not loose track of what is really important here ) fact is that the artists after Wally Wood drew her with normal proportions .... or what is considered normal for superheroines.
Until Bart Sears took over the character, buffed her up and returned her signature breast size - at least until the whole NEW 52 fiasko / retcon.
For me Bart Sear´s version is still the definite version of Power Girl and when DC started back - paddling with REBIRTH and restoring many things I was curious what that meant for Power Girl. I had hoped that there might be a return to her former glory in store for her but so far the SJWs have stuck the real Power Girl in limbo and replaced her with a political correct, flat chested black version. I guess Kara is too much woman to for them.
Now while I have not written anything new about the post REBIRTH Power Girl it is not true that I have not written about DC´s Maid of the Massive Mammaries at all. I recently started a new series about one of my favorite artists from my earliest comic reading days and while the first post was all about Joe Staton´s contribution to the GREEN LANTERN ( or DIE GRÜNE LEUCHTE how he was called in Germany and at that time I was reading mostly german comics ) my next ones were all about his version of Power Girl - which I also had to split into two separate posts, the intro and the main post - since Joe Staton not only drew all of the adventures of Power Girl or the Justice Society of America but basically everything on Earth 2.

Speaking about the best Power Girl of all times in Justice League Europe, in 2016 I finally managed to do another post about Darick Robertson in which I mentioned the BREAKDOWNS storyline that introduced Power Girl´s famous coconut bra costume. I still have enough material do do at least one full post on the Mistress of the Dark but like with Roger Stern the problem is not a lack of material ( I have dozens of original AVENGERS art pages by John Buscema and Tom Palmer ) but a question of finding the time to write another Elvira post.
There are more celebrity birthdays from September the 16th and the 17th in my more comicbook centric Elvira post from 2016 so our next stop is the 18th which is the anniversary of the birth of the late great Joe Kubert.
I wrote about my personal meeting with him in a post back in 2016 which naturally includes a lot of his great art. I should not have to mention this but besides working on such classic super hero books like Hawkman or Ragman ( whom some of my readers may know from his appearance on the Arrow tv show ) he excelled in depicting real life war stories which he did in such series like G. I. Combat, Our Army At War, Weird War Tales, The Unknown Soldier, The Losers and Sgt. Rock, the book he´s known for.
My second Joe Kubert tribute went online in 2018 and while it didn´t have any personal stories ( Hey, what do you want ? I only met him once and I am already milking that for all it´s worth. ) it does have a lot of original Joe Kubert art which I think we all can appreciate. Speaking of which, my first Joe Kubert post has the rest of the birthdays for the 18th of September and there are a few more select birthdays from the 18th to the 22nd split up between my tribute post to Will Elder´s work on MAD Magazine and my spotlight post on Will Elder´s sexy LITTLE ANNIE FANNY .
We continue the Dearly Departed section of this post´s extras on September the 20th with another comicbook related birthday that I previously covered in 2016 : Steve Gerber. He wrote a lot of series I read with much gusto like the three issue Phantom Zone mini series which was drawn by the late Gene Colan and inked by the late Tony DeZuniga or the A. Bizarro mini series but besides Omega The Unknown ( of which I have only read the first issue as part of my Marvel Firsts : The 1980s - Volume 3 trade ) and reviving the Guardians of the Galaxy team he is of course best known for his runs on Defenders and Howard The Duck - also in great parts illustrated by Gene Colan ( which gave us a movie that could have been better but gave us Lea Thompson in underwear so it all balances out ).
I have enough material for a Defenders OR Howard The Duck post but while I favor the second option - since that would give me an excuse to post art by Gene Colan - I have to postpone it like so many posts lately.
Steve Gerber´s post also has the celebrity birthdays from September the 19th and September the 20th so that finally takes care of all the birthdays up until Today. Whew ! That was a lot of work so let´s have a bit of fun.
As a big fan of the late Jim Varney I have already posted all the Ernest movies I could find ( which have without any doubt all been deleted since then ) so here is my last video : Your World As I See It where Jim showed that his acting range contained much more than earnest Ernest P. Worrell.
We continue with one of the few highlights from Stefan Raab´s show TV Total. In this competition they were looking for a female hairdresser for the base player of the studio band. Reading these ridiculously long posts ( and writing them even more so ) is not exactly good for the health especially when you are watching all the videos I have included. It helps to do some exercises now and then and since a big part of this post was about DC´s Maid of the Mighty Mammaries it´s time for another sweaty workout with fitness Power Girl Zuska Light.

But thanks to the Marvel cinematic universe series like WARLOCK or GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY are part of the Avenger´s expanded cosmos.
The only problem is that movie fans who want to check out the comics with their favorite characters find them very different from the version they fell in love in. Now some people say the only solution is to change the heroes in the comicbooks so they resemble the big screen version.
The obvious and much easier solution would be to stay true to the comics because they also have the better stories but in any case here are some facts about the REAL spaceway security sentries of the 30th century.

We are staying in the saddle with Django Does Not Pray which is not a real Django movie. They just put Django in the title because it´s more familiar.
And the original title Quel Caldo Maledetto Giorno Di Fuoco ( That Damn Hot Day Of Gunfight ) probably didn´t sound exciting enough for the translators. In english the film is called Gattling Gun which has more to do with the actual story of the movie. Which does not involve Django at all.
I´m not even trying to make a smooth segueway from riding to K - Pop band Miss A because I can´t win that one. I just wanted to include a live performance of their smash hit Hush. Naturally I chose the one where you get to see the most of my personal favorite of the group Min Lee Young !

We are staying with the asian sensation and another video with Jenny Babas. Which is kind of different - because it is funny - but also kind of the same - because Jenny is hot as hell. Which she just can´t help.
We´re back in the saddle again with Today´s cartoon video which is from the classic french BD Lucky Luke by Rene Goscinny and Morris. I chose my favorite story The Stagecoach which is basically a road movie. One of the things that always bugged me about Lucky Luke is that he has as much personality as a doorknob and he also never evolves as a character. In this story it doesn´t come into play that much because the main focus is on the ragtag band of engaging characters that travel with the stagecoach.
I know that I included the link to the video of Yaya Han´s terrific Power Girl cosplay above but I just wanted to make sure nobody misses this.
