I am of course talking about the famous cover for JUSTICE LEAGUE issue 1 which became iconic and was homaged - or copied depending how you see this - by various artists. So it should not surprise anybody that I found more than enough covers for this topic so there may be a follow up post. For this one though I went with the best ones and also those done by Kevin Maguire who varied the theme on more than enough following covers. I mean, if you have a good thing why not stick with it ? As always tips where I can find more of these homage covers are greatly appreciated and I hope I have included some which my readers haven´t seen before.
Originally I didn´t want to include any birthdays but the post looked so boring that I changed my mind. The reason why I initially wanted to forego the whole schtick was I already covered the birthdays in previous post.

Now with Big Barda the melons didn´t fall far from the tree and when she began to develop, especially in certain parts of her anatomy that had to do with procreation Darkseid decided to let her follow in her mother´s footsteps and - like mother like daughter - personally introduce Big Barda to the breeding pens to continue the family tradition. So as soon as she got wind of Darkseid´s perverted plans for her Big Barda decided to ditch Apokolips and hitched the next ride to Earth. According to Big Barda she managed to do that before Darkseid had a chance to break her in but maybe she was so eager to join Mister Miracle because she had tasted the Darkseed.

The second birthday I decided to include is a new one but it´s a doozy. When I tell you that Al Leong turns 66 you probably don´t know whom I´m talking about. But if you see Leong you will instantly recognize him.
The asian american actor / stuntman who picked up a cult fan following based around his numerous appearances in high voltage action flicks from the mid 1980s onwards nearly always turns up as a bad guy with his lean muscled physique, incredible agility, amazing martial arts skills, wispy black hair, and Fu - Manchu style mustache. He appeared in a plethora of classic cult tv series like Heart To Heart, Knight Rider, Magnum P. I. , Simon & Simon, Riptide, Airwolf, T. J. Hooker, A - Team, MacGyver - but most importantly - The Fall Guy, in the episodes Sandcastles ( season 4 episode 8 ) and Trial by Fire ( season 5 episode 12 ). Now longtime readers know that I have to use every chance to mention that show and Markie Post.
But The Fall Guy didn´t just have 80s Power Girl Markie Post they also put blonde bombshell Heather Thomas in the show right from the beginning.
She played stunt body double ( and what a body it was ) Jody and her job was to keep the male viewers hooked by providing eye candy. She was in all episodes except for an episode in the first season. Yes, fan service is not as new as some people might want you to think and Heather Thomas mainly got the part because of her absolutely amazing bikini figure. OMG !
It took a few episodes before she could strut her stuff but once the tv guys got a taste of Heather it happened more often and the famous blue bikini scene was quickly added to the new intro of the second season.
For generations of adolescent young boys the only highlight of the week was the short moment when Heather appeared in her famous blue bikini.
Like most growing teenagers I watched that show religiously but the biggest part of its appeal for me were sexbombs like Heather Thomas and Markie Post who didn´t appear as often in a bikini as I would have liked.
Well, Heather Thomas did since that was her main purpose on the show but Markie Post´s appearances in bikinis on The Fall Guy were very few.

One of the producers must have realized what a waste it is to have somebody like Markie on the cast without letting her " show off what her Mama gave her " like they say Today and the rest is 80s tv history. Markie Post got more involved in the stories where she stole the scene from Heather Thomas as soon as she donned a bikini ( mainly in Season 3 ).
Coming back to Heather Thomas, thanks to her absolutely stunning 37 ( ! ) - 23 - 32 measurements and the exposure in The Fall Guy she became a famous pin up model with posters in every hormone driven boy's bedroom.
She even managed to replace Raquel Welch on the number one spot !
80s Power Girl Markie Post is probably the best known cult siren on the blog because not only have I done many re - posts of her original post .
I also keep mentioning her in other posts and her original post is in the Top Ten Posts widget that appears on every post. Since I have done so many different versions it is not so tragic that I did not do a re - post last year even though I did the last version of her cult siren entry in 2016 .
Because of his martial art skills Al Leong was a natural fit for such shows like Kung Fu : The Legend Continues, Raven and let´s include Renegade.
Speaking of Renegade the only reason to watch that was Lorenzo´s wife Kathleen Kinmont who could have made a fortune as a famous stripper.
But Al Leong not only was a welcome addition to tv shows he also had a part in a slew of famous movies from Lethal Weapon, Lethal Weapon 4 or Action Jackson, Last Action Hero and Black Rain to Die Hard, They Live, Bill & Ted´s Most Excellent Adventure, Hot Shots ! Part Deux, Beverly Hills Cop III and The Shadow. But besides action stars like Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis or Arnold Schwarzenegger he also co starred with a lot of babes like in Double Dragon where Alyssa Milano´s body was booming and she put her firm teenage butt cheeks on display in a pair of cut off jeans.

The post also included 80s cult siren Monique Sluyter and the Tutti Frutti girls but that part got too long and I had to give it a post of its own which I re - posted in 2016 in a new and better version . She was a candidate from my JLA movie casting series - as Fire a.k.a. Beatriz da Costa in the Andy Sidaris Special - and before getting her solo post she was regularly in all the annual re - posts of italian mega soccer MILF Simona Ventura . But the living blow up sex doll from the Netherlands was not only in PLAYBOY multiple times she also was a big factor in my obsession on blondes with giant breast like Power Girl with her impersonation of Marilyn Monroe .
When I started to read american comics the DC universe was brand new thanks to the Crisis on Infinite Earths fallout and I grabbed all the series I didn´t know which included the two fisted combo of Justice League by Keith Giffen, J. M. DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire and Justice League Europe also by Giffen and Matteis, art by Bart Sears and inks by Pablo Marcos whom I knew from his work on Defenders. I don´t know if it was fate but the very first issue of Justice League Europe I got was issue 4 in which Power Girl, Flash and Animal Man share a hotel room as they go to Bialya on an undercover mission. I re - read the issue a few times and I always wondered if these more human - and more horny in the case of Flash - heroes didn´t spend the dull waiting time in a more adult way.
For me Bart Sear´s version is still the definite version of Power Girl and now that DC is back - paddling with their Rebirth initiative and restoring many things I am of course curious to find out what that means for Power Girl. As far as I know she has not yet appeared in the all new DC universe continuity so there might be a return to her former glory in store for her.
Speaking about the best Power Girl of all times in Justice League Europe, in 2016 I finally managed to do another post about Darick Robertson in which I mentioned the BREAKDOWNS storyline that introduced Power Girl´s famous coconut bra costume. And Ijust want to say that I still have not given up on a Yaya Han Power Girl coconut bra cosplay ( with the tiniest coconut shells you can find although compared to her huge 40D oppai all coconut shells probably look small no matter how big they are ) as she has already shown that she does a terrific Power Girl cosplay and she certainly has no problem filling out the magical cleavage window.
So far I had written five posts on Yaya - two of them are pretty safe but the other three are absolutely not safe for work - and I keep mentioning her on various JLA casting posts and any other posts involving asian sexbombs like Kiana Tom, Ava Cadell, Akira Lane, Miko Lee, Gail Kim or Minka and I swear the completely NSFW BIG YAYA HAN POST is still in the pipeline. Which is the one by Bruce Timm. With so many exceptionally good episodes it is hard to single out a particular one but luckily I found these videos a while ago.
This was a two parter - and it is not so much an adaption as it is more of a new interpretation of one of the most beloved Superman stories of all time : Captive Of The Red Sun ! from Action Comics 300. With the way DC Comics has lost any connection to what makes their super heroes great it is mind blowing how this show manages to boil each character down to his core and even finds a way to redeem somebody as evil as Vandal Savage.
At this point everybody should know how Airwolf the Justice League cartoon is so I want to include a recommendation. And since the animated films of the Justice League are subpar I am pimping what might not only be the best animated Batman movie but the best Batman movie period.
Which is my litte segueway to the work of Norm Breyfogle. I am not good at writing about creators who passed away ( I still can´t bring myself to write the posts for Herb Trimpe and Bernie Wrightson ) especially if their work has had a big impact on my life but there will be a post on Norm soon. I still have another video lined up for that and until then check out the post I wrote about him last year or any of my previous tribute posts .
It doesn´t have anything to do with the Justice League since Starman was a member of the Justice Society of America but I don´t like to end on a sour note and this is a show I always enjoyed. Maybe a big part of that is nostalgia as I first saw this in Spain but ever since this role is the one I associate with Robert Hays and it has one of my favorite theme songs.
Speaking about songs here is a special treat - especially for my german readers - a rare find. There are only two episodes of Yxilon Show - Die Show mit Ix und Ypsilon on YouTube which was one of the best kids shows on german tv. It was mostly for kids but the humor was something adults could enjoy and after watching the first three minutes I was once again laughing hysterically. Sometimes things are as good as we remember them.
