Well, FANTASTIC FOUR FRIDAY has not been established yet since I can't access all my original Paul Ryan FANTASTIC FOUR art at the moment but I have already done two spotlight posts for John Byrne's iconic run on the title - one in January 2018 and one in February 2018 in both cases he was inked by Jerry Ordway - so the title of this post is kind of justified.
Now, seeing as this is neither my first John Byrne spotlight post, nor my first FANTASTIC FOUR post or my first John Byrne FANTASTIC FOUR post there is not much to say about either of them I haven't already said.
But as always I want to give a bit of a background why I chose to do this post with so many other posts still unfinished and especially in light of the fact that I usually don't do two Marvel posts in a row. Since I have mentioned it ad nauseum in my last posts I don't have to repeat that I have no access to my picture archive and depend completely on pictures I find while writing my posts. Which in this case has been original John Byrne artwork but not from FANTASTIC FOUR but rather from his run on UNCANNY X - MEN with Chris Claremont. But doing not only two Marvel Comics posts in a row but two X - MEN posts ? That's much even for me.
So I decided to pick another title and since FANTASTIC FOUR is a book that a lot of people avoid I decided to give it a spotlight to get more people interested. Because yes, the initial run by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby as well as the run by John Byrne are well regarded but everything else is up in the ether. I have already done my little rundown of all the great artists who have worked on the title in my latest George Perez tribute but for me FANTASTIC FOUR is one of the best books Marvel Comics has put out period and I can't understand why it is so difficult for Hollywood to make a good Fantastic Four movie. I have had FANTASTIC FOUR on my pull list for the longest time and the reason for that is that when the creative team of a book changes I usually give it a few issues to see if I am going to keep the book on my pull list or if it ends up on the chopping block and for a long period creative team after creative team kept me hooked . That's why when I still had my comic collection I had most of the issues that came out from the initial run to the story line with the Future Foundation and beyond it in one form or another.
The last thing I want to mention before we come to the art I selected for this post is that another reason why I decided to do this book is that volume 21 of the MARVEL MASTERWORKS : FANTASTIC FOUR - which contains the first nine issues of John Byne's run - is one of the few books I managed to keep from my old comicbook collection. I planned to buy the following volume but I just couldn't find it at a good price and now I can't spend any money on comics. I used to have all the issues in trade.
Anyway, as longtime followers know I like to make thematic collections so the biggest part of this post is about their journey into the negative zone so Reed and Sue can have sex. I'm not making this up, they are pretty upfront why they go there and the others even make some jokes about it. Anyway, strap yourself in, keep your flux compensator on the right frequency and be prepared to reverse the polarity on my command.

ARS GRATIA ARTIST EDITION or I GOT THE EARLY CHRISTMAS BLUES
Christmas is not that far away ( I am writing this on the 5th of December ) which means that normally John Byrne's FANTASTIC FOUR Artist Edition would be on my wish list. And when I say " wish list " I mean of course the comicbooks I buy for myself because I never get any good Christmas presents. The usual modus operandi is that I either buy some good swag beforehand if there are some bargains or I wait until after the holidays when I am again frustrated that I didn't get anything good for Christmas and spend at least as much as I spent on presents for others on myself.
And I know what you want to say : Christmas is not about what one gets but more about what you give without expecting a reward. And that is true in some measure. But after always making it about other people there comes a point where you say : No, giving great presents to others is fine and dandy but I am tired of always being the one who loses and gets crappy presents while spending a lot of time, money and effort making sure other people have a nice Christmas. From here on out I am making sure that I also have a nice time even if that means I have to buy my own presents. But all of this may be a moot point keeping in mind we probably won't even celebrate Christmas this year. Neither my brother nor my sister will be visiting us for the holidays, we can't eat any good food like pizza, chocolate, cake, ice cream or hamburgers and the vcr is not connected so we can't watch Little Lord Fauntleroy, Three Hazelnuts For Cinderella or Dinner For One or any of the other movies that are a must this time of the year. And on top of that my budget on comicbooks is zero so I have to be content with perusing the Artist Edition through the video below. On the other side I went to my usual online resources for comicbooks and could not find an adequate replacement. Because I am not just buying an Artist Edition to buy an Artist Edition. These cost an arm and a leg ( it does not have to be YOUR OWN arm and leg ) so if I'm going to spring for that kind of money it has to be something special.
MARVEL COMICS' FIRST FAMILY - IT'S NOT JUST A CLEVER TITLE !
In the intro I couldn't elaborate at length WHY the FANTASTIC FOUR is not only one of the most important comics within the greater Marvel universe but also in the company's publishing history and even moreso in the history of comicbooks itself. I mean, first the Fantastic Four are at the core of the Marvel universe. As scientists and explorers rather than super heroes their goal is scientific knowledge and discovering dangers to earth from outer space or other dimensions. So you know the poop is about to hit the fan when other teams like the Avengers have to consult with Reed Richards. They need to go to the Negative Zone ? Reed has a map. Danger from the microverse ? Reed has a vehicle to get you there.
One of your teammates got hit with some kind of magic mumbo jumbo and you don't know what to do ? Okay, you have to ask Doctor Strange for that last one but apart from that old Reed Richards has all the answers.
Now if we are going a bit more meta with the Fantastic Four, this comic is where the foundation of the Marvel universe was built. Wakanda and the Black Panther, the Inhumans, the Kree and other alien races like the Skrulls, Mole Man and Monster Island, Galaktus and the Silver Surfer, the Negative Zone and Annihilus, the microverse, the Watcher and the blue area of the moon, the Fantastic Four is where Stan Lee and Jack Kirby mapped out the Marvel universe. And if we go from the history of Marvel Comics to the history of comicbooks in general the Fantastic Four is the one comicbook that completely changed how comicbooks were made.
In their first issue - which according to Stan Lee was almost the last one he wrote because he was fed up with the kind of stories he had to write - the world was introduced to four characters who had their flaws. They were human beings who were a family first and superhero team second.

And like all families they didn't always get along - for a time it seemed that a member was quitting the team in every issue - but when things got rough they had each others backs. Unlike most of the heroes of the day they were not all shining examples of virtue but rather seemed more like the protagonists of a horror flick : the guy who stretches his body, the disappearing woman, the burning man and a monster that was so disfigured and ugly that it could only be described as the human thing.
Like all Marvel characters that followed later they had feet of clay but were also human so you could relate to them. When the first issue came out it was such a huge success that other companies tried to emulate the formula which you can see in series like The Mighty Crusaders where the members of the team always are fighting with each other but unlike in the Marvel Comics it seems odd and be coming out of nowhere. I think at this point you have an idea why it is strange that the Fantastic Four don't have more fans and for everything else just watch the following video.
THE FANTASTIC FOUR GO TO HOLLYWOOD or FAILING THE FRANCHISE
Another thing ( no pun intended ) I don't understand is why the Fantastic Four movie from 2005 by fellow german Bernd Eichinger gets so much negative response from fans and the general public. Granted, it's not as faithful to the source material as the Roger Corman movie ( there is a great documentary about the movie - which is in very low quality so I didn't include it here but for those who want to check it out here is the link - and it seems that all the people who worked on it were really enthusiastic about it ) but it is a very entertaining movie that has an updated origin story of the characters. And for me the casting in this movie is spot on. I'm not so sure about Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom ( he's probably best known as Cole / The Source Of Evil on Charmed with repentant 42C - 23 - 36 born for porn actress Alyssa Milano who got busy dicktaming him and co - star Brian Krause as her personal sex slaves ) but Chris Evans is perfect as hothead Johnny Storm, Michael Chiklis is awesome as Ben Grimm and Ioan Gruffudd is fantastic as Reed Richards.
A lot of reviews criticize him for being very subdued but those who think that have obviously never read a FANTASTIC FOUR comicbook in their life because Reed Richard is not a charismatic leader like Captain America or a witty billionaire like Tony Stark. He is a very reserved, introvert person who let's his actions speak for him. Well, when he's not giving one of his longwinded discourses that makes Ben's head hurt. As for 38B - 24 - 33 sex kitten Jessica Alba as Sue Storm, I have no idea why people think she is not the right choice for Sue Storm. I mean, Sue Storm is supposed to be mega hot - which is why every villain or fish man took her hostage - and Jessica Alba most definitely is hot. Is it because of her multi racial ethnicity ? Come on, can we stop with the whole aryan big, white and blonde stereotype here ? I have lived in Germany long enough to know even they didn't mind. And I mean they changed Alicia Masters from a white woman to a black woman and nobody cared. Or is it because people say she can't act ? That's open to debate and at least it's not like in Sin City where Jessica Alba played a stripper but refused to get naked.
In this sense the Invisible Woman was the perfect role for Jessica Alba because even when she gets naked the audience doesn't see anything.
So for me there is no question that the 2005 Fantastic Four movie is the best adaption of Marvel's First Family to the big screen. There are some fan made movies however that might make you wonder what they could do with a big budget because they are very faithful to the comicbooks.
Something I just came across while writing this post - so I haven't had a chance to watch it - is the web series Fantastic Four : Remutations. I have included the video with the complete series plus english subtitles but my german speaking followers can of course watch the episodes in the original german version ( Folge 1 / Folge 2 / Folge 3 / Folge 4 ).
We are switching gears - although only a bit since THE FANTASTIC FOUR have deep roots in Atlas Comics horror titles ( which included a lot of sci fi elements ) - with the return of the horror anthology movie Body Bags.
I have already posted this movie but if it has not been deleted from YouTube since I posted it this one is at least of much higher quality.
IF I HAD A ( MIKE ) HAMMERETTE I'D HAMMER HER IN THE MORNING
Besides such horror movie icons like John Carpenter , Tobe Hooper, Wes Craven, Sam Raimi or Roger Corman the film stars Mark Hamill, fashion icon Twiggy, singers Debbie Harry a.k.a. Blondie and Sheena Easton and last but not least Stacy Keach who is best known for his role of manly Mike Hammer in the Mike Hammer tv shows from the late 80s and early 90s which were famous for its abundancy of big - breasted sexbombs.

Coming back to the terrific blow up sex dolls on Mike Hammer one episode I still vividly remember was episode 2 from season six called Bonecrush in which a 22 year old Janine Turner played a nymphomanic ( aren´t all women in this series nymphomanic, especially the so - called Hammerettes ? ) horny sexbomb which she had no problem pulling off thanks to young Janine´s bonerinducing 40C - 22 - 37 measurements.

As he seems to have an unlimited supply of female acquaintances willing to do whatever Mike Hammer needs them to do in the hopes of getting a big taste of ye olde patented 150 percent satisfucktion guaranteed Mike Hammer meatpole.
Coming back to Janine Turner´s character, after Mike Hammer spurns her proposition to assume the position ( or more likely the positions since she intends to have sexual intercourse with Mike many positions in all night long ) Mike Hammer´s only remaining - male - friend in the police departement walks in and she blatantly asks him if his old friend Mike has some performance problems with his little Mike. Which is the only reasonable explanation for not slambanging Janine Turner´s brains out.
Coming back to The Fantastic Four, while the next video is titled as from comicbook to animated series it does spend a lot of time on the creation and history of the comicbook and does not include all of the animated versions of the fab foursome like the very underrated french cartoon.
The 1967 Fantastic Four cartoon was produced by Hannah Barbera and not Grantray - Lawrence animation like I thought which is why it does not use the original Jack Kirby artwork from the comicbooks like the Sub - Mariner, Iron Man, Captain America, Incredible Hulk or Thor cartoon.
We come to one of the most bizarre backdoor pilots in tv history with a failed spin - off for CHiPs - involving a special ninja police task force.
Speaking of episodes that make a tingle go down your spine - but this time in a good way - did you know that none other than buxom 42E - 21 - 37 horror hostess with the mostess Cassandra Peterson a.k.a. Elvira, the Mistress Of The Dark guest starred not in one but two CHiPs episodes ?
What an impressive rack ! And I'm not talking about Elvira's big pumpkins for a change but about the comic spinner rack in the second episode.
The camera pans away too quickly to make out all the comics but there's Ghost Rider 80 and Thor 331. Plus the plot actually is about comicbooks.
Because we are already on the subject of police tv shows I am including the episode of Police Woman where blonde 40D - 24 - 35 bikini body Angie Dickinson ( and that's a pornstar name if I have ever heard one ) goes undercover as a hooker I mentioned in my Paul Smith X - MEN post .
SHE - HULK ATTORNEY AT LAW : IN DEFENSE OF JOHN BYRNE vs SJWs
Since this is a John Byrne post and I don't know when or even if I get to do a post on his groundbreaking SHE - HULK run I want to address the Mandela Effect in regards to this book in light of there being a She - Hulk, Attorney At Law tv series being out. Which usually makes people - and with people I mean the non - comicbook reading muggels out there - more interested to anything in connection with Shulkie Jennifer Walters.
Okay, for those who have never heard of it The Mandela Effect is when everybody is convinced that things are or happened a certain way when in reality that is not true. But the fake fact is so ingrained in pop culture or general culture that it is hard to convince people even after showing them proof. This effect was named after Nelson Mandela of which pretty much everybody thought he had already died in prison when he was in fact still alive. Now the Mandela Effect I am talking about - and which is explained at length in the video above - is that while a lot of people give John Byrne credit for his really brilliant run on SHE - HULK and making her the first comicbook character who knew that she was in a comicbook and who frequently broke the fourth wall - and decades before Deadpool did it I might add - and basically writing the best interpretation of She - Hulk and setting the gold standard for all the other writers who came after him there are also a lot of people who call him a macho, chauvinist and other things. Mainly because of what happens in issue 40 of his run on SHE - HULK where he has everybody's favorite jade giantess skipping the rope in the nude. And this is when the Mandela Effect occurs with most people. Because they only remember the first four pages of this.
Now John Byrne always wrote She - Hulk as a strong, emancipated and capable character but she was also fun loving and very active sexually and very non - apologetic about it. She didn't sleep her way through the male super hero ( and super villain ) community like with other writers but you knew what was up when she had her dates with Johnny's Storm's best friend from the five minutes he spent in college Wyatt Wingfoot. On top of that John Byrne always drew She - Hulk as a stunning, voluptuous woman. I mean his blueprint for She - Hulk was all natural 42HH - 24 - 36 Busenwunder Petra Verkaik , Playmate Of The Month December in 1989 , who was in fact the most published woman in PLAYBOY's entire history .
And if the fact that John Byrne based his version of She - Hulk on the playmate with the biggest boobs at that time was not enough of a hint in which direction he was going with her there was Fantastic Four 275 in which a sleezebag papparazzi shot pictures of She - Hulk sunbathing nude and printed them in his adult magazine. As a bonus for us fanboys at the end of the issue Johnny Storm has one of the issues and reveals to Jennifer's big relief that the guy couldn't wait to get the film to print and in his haste forgot to tell the printer that it was She - Hulk. So when the pictures turned out with green skin the printer corrected it so that the pictures in the magazine showed a woman with normal skin color and brown hair. Of course Johnny Storm being Johnny Storm he immediately negates any points he might have scored with She - Hulk by commenting that all you need to see the pictures how they should look is a pair of green glasses and then goes to look for his green sunglasses. Which I am only mentioning because it means that if you want to see the naked version of John Byrne's She - Hulk all you need is an issue of PLAYBOY - or a video will also do - with Petra Verkaik and a pair of green sunglasses.
But that was not the only instance in which She - Hulk's bonerinducing pornstar body was an integral part of the story like when he put the graphic in novel and She - Hulk first had to strip completely naked in front of a bunch of horny S.H.I.E.L.D. field agents and later had to undergo a battery of physical exams - of course naked. It's pretty clear that they took turns tag - teaming Jen with their huge horsecocks, using her like a blow up sex doll and trying their best to dicktame her after several full cavity searches. Which they naturally all caught on film.
Now with all that said and keeping his history of strange sex - centered stories like when Big Barda shot a porn tape with Superman ( remind me to tell you about the first sex tape she made which everybody always forgets about some time ) in the case of She - Hulk issue 40 John Byrne is innocent of any claims of sexism or such because most people either just rely on what they read on the internet or take one look at the cover.
And they make their judgement based on that. I even daresay that even if there are some who get the actual issue they never make it past page four. Because here is what happens on the pages five to seven which is the part everybody either forgets or chooses to ignore in the whole discussion - and when I say discussion I mean of course the witch hunt.
Well, what do you know ? It was all just a prank and She - Hulk was not really naked, John Byrne just made it look like she was and she was really wearing a white bikini the whole time. It was another graphic pun where he tried out how far he could go like in the famous Alpha Flight issue where he did the classic superhero fight in a snowstorm so all you can see is a blank sheet of paper gag but unlike most of his peers he not only did it but he pulled it off in a way that your mind could envision the whole thing. Coming back to She - Hulk skipping rope in the buff, that was something that started as a one off remark in the letter columns where She - Hulk herself answered the reader's mail and said that when the sales of her book went any lower she would have to do something drastic like skip rope in the nude and the whole thing got picked up by the fans and got a life of its own. And to make it appear like She - Hulk was really going to do it they hinted it in the letter column for issue 39.
So far I have avoided watching the She - Hulk tv show ( especially after how they handled the integrated Hulk from the Peter David / Dale Keown run in Avengers : Endgame ) but british 42D - 27 - 35 brabuster Jameela Jamil provides the two breast reasons to check those out.
Coming back to the subject of science fiction, since I know how much my readers like Top Ten lists here are 10 Hidden Sci Fi B - Movie Gems That People Neglect Just Because They Had Low Budgets which is a long title.
The list includes Nemesis from 1992 - and I will do a little Oliver Gruner spotlight in an upcoming post - classics like 1980s Saturn 3 with Kirk Douglas, Farrah Fawcett and Harvey Keitel and 1983s Brainstorm with Christopher Walken but also video store hits like 1984s Trancers and 1992s Split Second. Since I already posted Brandon Tenold's cult movie review of Trancers in my MIKE DEODATO WONDER WOMAN post ( yep, that's the one with Wonder Woman in her black leather hooker outfit ) here is his take on Split Second with Kim Catrall and Rutger Hauer. We will definitely talk more about him in connection to his cult classic The Hitcher - or like it is called in Germany Hitcher, The Highway Killer - in an upcoming post that will include an episode of the Hitchhiker tv show.

Apropos watershed moments with female leads with a big personality ( what did you think I was going to say ? ) I finally got around to watch the last Doctor Who special with Jodie Whittaker The Power Of The Doctor and of course I was not only the last one to the party but on top of that I got spoiled who appears at the finale of the episode as the next Doctor.
And I'm not going to say anything about it because I don't like to spoil things for other people - unlike some other individuals I know about - but it's not what you expect and it's something that never happened before.
Anyway, even with knowing what was coming up it was totally worth it because besides a truckload of easter eggs for old Doctor Who fans the episode includes the best moment from the entire Jodie Whittaker run.
This may be the most epic moment in the history of television and for the younger ones who unlike me didn't grow up with Boney M here is the original. Man, this was how we learned about history : Boney M with Rasputin and Ma Baker, Dschinghis Khan with ( duh ! ) Dschinghis Khan.
Maybe the public's reception of a female Doctor Who would have been different if they chose somebody who is actually hot for the role. And speaking of hot women auditioning there is a video about the Twin Peaks breastaurant I - naturally - found after I had written about it.
Since the video I originally wanted to post from Le Crazy Horse can't be watched on other websites and the one I planned to post instead from the Moulin Rouge has gotten an age restriction since I bookmarked it the only one I can post is the one from Le Lido. We are dipping our toes into the profound depths of the world of pirates and cutthroats with THE best opener for One Piece. No kidding, I have checked out a few from other countries and compared to the german intro they are all lacking. They are not even in the same league. The german version gets you pumped up to watch the episode and I doubt that without the superb opener I would have become a fan of this show.
