Speaking of putting a bow on it, the main part of this post are from the NEW MUTANTS ANNUAL that was a part of the ASGARDIAN WARS crossover which we already featured in two previous Arthur Adams birthday posts.
One of the things that makes it so difficult to read the X - Men is that over the decades dozens of writers have worked on Marvel´s merry mutants, building layer upon layer of history sometimes contradicting each other. So it is understandable that sometimes storylines are written to streamline the complicated history, fill in gaps or explain continuity errors.
There are however changes that are just made because different movie companies have the rights to specific characters like in the case of the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver where their parentage was changed from Magneto to the High Evolutionary, a character almost nobody outside of comics ever heard of. When Disney bought up Marvel Comics ( which for some reason happened AFTER it was really necessary - namely Marvel´s bancrupcy ) a lot of people said that it was no cause for alarm because Disney would have no influence on how their comicbooks were made.
I was in the other camp and I really hate to be proven right by history.
Which is one of the reasons why I don´t read any of the new Marvel Comics except for the current run of Spider - Man. It´s not that great and sometimes feels a bit like going through the motions to relive past glories - especially in the recent Kraven story that only served to remind us how brilliant the original was - but aside from that it delivers what you expect from the book and it´s fun to read. Anyway, after this long intro we have a video about 9 additional needless origin changes and I don´t want to interpret too much into a video title but I have to wonder why it´s called 10 Comic Book Origin Changes Fans Hated instead of just 10 Comic Book Origin Changes People Hated. I mean, it seems to me that the producers of the video are downlow dissing comicbook fans while they are the only ones who COULD hate this changes. Because if you are not a comicbook fan you don´t know the original origins so you don´t know that something was changed. Ergo : ONLY comicbook fans CAN like or hate these changes.
We continue the celebrity birthdays from the first part where we had the 48th birthday of Krista Allen who is best known for her role of Jenna Avid on BAYWATCH HAWAII and playing EMANUELLE, the french sex machine with the high moan factor who merciless milks men dry until they can´t remember on which side the doorknob is in eight made for tv movies .

Coming back to Roger Corman he did get to dip his toe into the super hero world with the BLACK SCORPION series and earlier with the first infamous and now legendary FANTASTIC FOUR movie. I have to say I am not quite sure if I have seen the movie because at that time there were a lot of cheap sword and sorcery films that wanted to cash in on the success of Dino De Laurentiis Conan and after a few decades they all blend together. I only remember that the Deathstalker movies were among the films that had the movie posters painted by Boris Vallejo who was one of the favorite fantasy artists of my late brother.
To complicate matters there were a lot of sequels to Deathstalker and while I am not sure if Deathstalker II was also produced by Roger Corman it does feature Monique Gabrielle whom I already mentioned in this post.
Usually I don´t have a lot of movie producers in this section but I just had to pay homage to the late Albert R. Broccoli who has not only entertained the whole world with adventure and excitement from the first Bond movie DR. NO to GOLDENEYE but thrilled us with dozens of Bond girls.
Teri played the BEST Lois Lane on tv so far and was the first actress who made it believable that Superman would choose her over the ultimate sex bombs in the Justice League of America like Big Barda or Wonder Woman.

I put her in the finale of the Hollywood Edition of Casting The JLA Movie series as Wonder Woman but now I´m tending more towards Big Barda.
In the original FOURTH WORLD comics by Jack Kirby - and this definitely changed in the NEW 52 - Big Barda was built like a brick shithouse with the personality of a lady trucker, the muscles of a female bodybuilder, the hot measurements of a playmate of the year and the cupsize of a porn star.
She got that from her mother Big Breeda, the fiercest female warrior on Apokolips who - nomen est omen - was therefore selected by Darkseid himself to breed the next race of warriors. While doing the research for this post I came across some episodes of Hercule Poirot one of my mother´s favorite series. I watched a few episodes but I have to say I´m not such a big fan because I think Hercule is a bit of a snob, the story progress is very slow and it often suffers from the parachute under the seatbelt where a lot of Agatha Christie stories are resolved at the last minute thanks to facts that were not revealed before. It´s one of the reasons why I love Case Closed : you are presented with all the important facts and right before the famous sleeping Kogoro Mouri reveals the identity of the culprit all the clues are reviewed again so you have one final chance to solve the case. Initially I wanted to post an episode of Hercule Poirot I had seen with my Mom that features Tom Baker but apparently that was just somebody who resembled him. In any case, I did find Wasp´s Nest with an incredibly young Peter Capaldi.
Speaking of the world´s greatest detectives, Warner Brothers is releasing a lot of lengthy documentaries during the lockdown and here is one about what is not only one of the best animated superhero cartoons of all times but one that changed cartoons forever. This is the reason why a lot of shows afterwards had blocky, cubistic animation - without understanding the reason why Bruce Timm used it in Batman - The Animated Series.
During this crisis comic shops are affected especially hard so I wanted to include this video from Comic Tropes. Speaking of tropes, it is typical of our modern society that somebody coins a phrase and everybody starts using this phrase without thinking about if this phrase is correct or not.
So Today I want to start the movement STOP SOCIAL DISTANCING ! Now I´m not saying that you should ignore all safety and health advice BUT when you are keeping your distance from other people to avoid getting infected that is NOT social distancing. It is SPACIAL or GEOGRAPHICAL distancing. Social distancing is what you SHOULD NOT do. In these difficult times it´s more important than ever to stay connected with other people through the internet and the unsocial media. So STOP SOCIAL DISTANCING, START SPACIAL DISTANCING ! and please, STAY CONNECTED TO HUMANITY !
It´s no secret that I have never been a big fan of the X - Men´s raging cajun Gambit but one thing that is still on my bucket list is to visit New Orleans - once the travel ban because of Corona has been lifted - to sample the famous jazz music as well as the cajun cuisine. Until then I have to be content with second hand experience through YouTube videos.
