As my laptop reminds me constantly that my OneDrive is full and " will start synching soon " it's time to put more original art out there. And since my last post was a Marvel Comics post I have decided to continue my recent FLASH FRIDAY revival with the Carmine Infantino tribute post I promised my readers in my last FLASH FRIDAY : CHAIN LIGHTNING post .
Now seeing as this is not my first post about DC's THE FLASH nor my first tribute post to the great late Carmine Infantino you might think that we could get right in medias res but seasoned blog veterans probably won't be surprised that there are still a few things I have to mention. First off we are starting at the back end of Carmine Infantino's run on THE FLASH since that is the period I read the most issues from. Naturally I did read some of the more iconic issues that introduced a lot of the things that people are now more familiar with from the CW tv show then from the comicbooks like Kid Flash Wally West or the concept of parallel earths.
But it is his later art style that had become more cartoony - ish that I am more familiar with and it's the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the name of Carmine Infantino. So we will safe his earlier FLASH work for our next post. The second thing I have to address is that it was quite difficult to match the covers of the german edition of DER ROTE BLITZ by EhapaVerlag because sometimes they did not use the original cover and instead used the splash page from inside of the comicbook.
By the way you can find the original cover for THE FLASH issue 317 at the top of the post. Now I don't know why the german publisher decided to turn the splash page into the cover in this case - maybe they thought Barry Allen pulling a prank on a black disabled kid ( what a monster, offending two minorities at the same time ) was just a bit too much for the german readers to swallow or maybe it was because the cover does not feature the villain of the issue - but with issue 310 of THE FLASH it might have been done because on the original cover theJusticeSocietyOfAmerica's Doctor Fate is featured more prominently than the Flash.
There is also the case of THE FLASH issue 333 where I found an unused cover where DC Comics decided to go with a completely different one.
Is it just me or is the slogan of " The new DC there's no stopping us now. " at the bottom of a cover depicting a bunch of people dismantling the Flash's statue creepy and unsettling ? Apropos my own impressions of the series, I always found it strange that they added Goldface to the Flash's Rogues gallery as it made more sense to have him as an antagonist for Green Lantern. Back then the Green Lantern ring still had its weakness to yellow so fighting a villain who was clothed in yellow - or gold - from head to toe made things always especially tricky for Hal Jordan. As a foil for the fastest man alive on the other hand gold does not give you much of an advantage. The only thing gold does is it makes you slower since it weighs a ton and I'm not exactly sure how that helps fighting the Flash.

Now I don't know if the old JAMES BOND comics is as good as it is going to get and if it makes sense buying any future James Bond releases since they effectually character assassinated James Bond better than Austin Powers ever could leaving him to the ridicule of lesser capable female agents and inexperienced little girls with No Patience To Deal With Men I mean No Time To Die. Coming back to Daniel Craig in a film superior to No Time To Die we have a James Bond / Star Wars crossover as 007 and Han Solo team up in the old west against alien invaders in the criminally underrated sci fi flick Cowboys & Aliens. Which surprise, surprise is based on a comicbook.
But as I have said before unless it is with superheroes - and superheroes people already know - movies based on comicbooks don't do so well at the box office Men In Black being one of the few exceptions to that rule.
We are staying with cowboys with Last Stage To Salt Flats from The Big Valley or Passion Valley how it was called in Spain which was not only the first major ( pun intended ) role for Lee Majors but also for classy 42C - 25 - 38 boob tube queen Linda Evans who would reach even higher fame with Dynasty - which for some reason was called Denver Clan in Germany - the big rival to Dallas which according to some ( I'm not sure since I never saw many episodes ) tried to beat out the competition with more risky outfits for the female cast members and especially more sex.
