Because the last time I wrote about The Suicide Squad was in the pop culture trivia / cult siren section of my DC COMICS SHOWCASE WITH MATT WAGNER post in October 2022 where I delved more into the two movies ( so we can skip that part here ) so the last time I actually wrote about THE SUICIDE COMICBOOK was in the bonus section of another post for my favourite living 44D - 25 - 35 cosplay wet sex phantasy Yaya Han .
And my faithful followers probably won't need three guesses as to whom I would have Yaya Han play in a Suicide Squad movie since I mentioned it a few times on the blog even if she would cover up too much of her porn body if she really went with the old school costume although she could incorporate a Power Girl style magic cleavage window for all of her fans.
I am of course talking about Katana who was created by writer Mike W. Anyway, we will leave the obligatory Yaya Han links for later before this post gets derailed too much and it gets slapped with a NSFW restriction.
I don't think I have written too much about the Suicide Squad in previous posts so I should give those who are not very familiar with the series - or those that only know the team from their various iterations in cartoons, tv shows or the two movies - at least the basic background information.
The first iteration of the Suicide Squad appeared in THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD issue 25 published in September 1959 under the name Task Force X and since superhero comicbooks were not as popular as action adventure comicbooks and monster books the team was kind of a monster hunter / investigators of the supernatural squad in the vein of CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN that worked for the american government. But that is not the team about whom this post is all about. We are dealing with the second version of the team that debuted in the third issue of LEGENDS, a six issue mini series plotted by John Ostrander, scripted by Len Wein, penciled by John Byrne and inked by Karl Kesel. We don't need to get into the details of the story but LEGENDS was the first crossover after CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS by Marv Wolfman and George Perez and it served to introduce a lot of the new characters - like the new Suicide Squad - and bring other heroes together to form the new Justice League written by Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis and drawn by Kevin Maguire.
Unlike the first Suicide Squad this team was not made up of volunteers who worked for the army ( except for some of the handlers ) but rather criminals who were pressed into service by Amanda Waller who promised them a reduction in their prison sentence - IF they survived the missions.
Because the whole point of the squad was to use super villains who were expendable to do secret missions the heroes would never agree to and which the USA would never officially acknowledge and if some of them died along the way it would not be a big loss for humanity. Of course you would ask yourself how they would get the super villains to go on this mission and that is where Amanda Waller comes in who bribed, coerced, charmed, blackmailed or frightened them one way or another to agree to do these missions. Another problem is of course how you keep such sometimes very powerful characters under control and in line and the simple answer is by implanting a small bomb at the base of their skull and blow their head off when they try to flee or stray from the mission.
And to show the readers that these missions were dangerous quite a few Suicide Squad members were killed in the line of duty. Now prior to getting all the SUICIDE SQUAD trades for my brother as birthday gifts I had never read that many issues of the series and only read some of the issues my brother had ( which mostly involved women fighting ) but I started reading them more on a regular basis around issue 40 which was a four part story called The Phoenix Gambit that guest starred Batman.
There have been some crossovers between titles before - like the one between THE SUICIDE SQUAD issue 13 and JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA issue 13 with the famous fight between Batman and Rick Flag Jr. - but this is where I came in. A big part of the appeal of those issues for me was the art by Geof Isherwood - with whom I was already familiar from his run on CONAN THE BARBARIAN - and he is also the artist on most of the original pages in this post. By the way, for those who wonder why Harley Quinn doesn't make an appearance here, she was created in 1992 after the SUICIDE SQUAD comicbook was cancelled and did not appear in comicbooks until 1999 thus it was impossible to have her on the team.
Yup, it's difficult to grasp for Today's comicbook readers but there was a time before the huge Harley Quinn hype where they managed to do a Suicide Squad book without her. They did however have the characters of Punch and Jewelee who are clearly based on Punch and Judy and while some say they were stand - ins for the Joker and Harley Quinn I don't think so. The idea here is that they could not put the Joker in the Suicide Squad and have stakes because everybody know DC Comics would not kill off one of their biggest cash cows. So they used Punch who was a third rate Captain Atom villain - at best - because they could kill him off without problem. The reason why this theory doesn't work for me is that they did use the Joker in some of the issues with Barbara Gordon ( who became Oracle in this series ) and at that time Harley Quinn didn't exist so they would not need a stand - in for her. If anything the idea of having a married couple as villains that wore clown themed garb might be what sparked the idea of giving the Joker a female counterpart with Harley.
But I think this is enough of an introduction - if anybody is still reading my ramblings and has not jumped immediately to the part about hasian 44D cosplay blow up sex doll Yaya Han - so let's get to the good stuff !

Not that there is a shortage of Yaya Han posts here. From 2014 to 2017 I´ve written six posts on Yaya - two of them are pretty safe but the other four are absolutely not safe for work - and I keep mentioning her on various JLA casting posts and any other posts involving asian sexbombs like flex appealing Kiana Tom, Ava Cadell, Akira Lane, Miko Lee, korean wrestling knockout Gail Kim a.k.a.
